the stolls and Will must have so much shit on each other. like i imagine Will stops by the camp store for a kit kat and it’s just back and forth “i’ll tell the camp this” until one of them gives up (highly unlikely scenario) or someone else comes in and they immediately clam up to not reveal their secrets (much more likely scenario)

Chapter 9 - Rules
Fic series: The Final Straw (HP/PJO Crossover)
Premise: Nova has a a nightmare and the teams are chosen.
Masterlist
taglist: @ilvermornymascot, @lukecastellandeservedbetter, @eva-blog-p
word count: 2,100
A/N: This break from the fic was longer than intended but I've been fixated on Hunters (Amazon Prime) and started a blog for it because there's barely any fanfiction for Hunters and that's a travesty. To make up for it being nearly a month since I last updated (I think?) I made the chapter way longer than normal, but I think I'm going to stick to chapters being around this length. Definitely reduces the amount of chapters I originally planned while keeping the timeline in check XD Hope you enjoy this very late installment!
Nightmares were a common occurrence for demigods, being nearly unavoidable. Some were stronger than others, leaving the demigod remembering every vivid detail when they woke up. Others were weaker, causing the demigod to wake up with a few details forgotten. Nova was unlucky, her latest nightmare leaving her confused in the morning.
The demigoddess stood in the corner of a dimly lit room, watching as a house-elf brought a letter over to their master, who was lounging on a plush leather couch. "Great. A letter from that wretched school. Now scram, I want dinner in an hour."
"Yes, mistress." The house-elf squeaked and scampered off.
Unable to help her curiosity, Nova moved closer to the girl and peered over her shoulder. The name addressed in the letter was blurry, but the contents spoke of the transfer program. The witch tossed it aside in annoyance and got up from her spot on the couch. Nova followed her as she stormed out of the home and into the adjacent forest.
Nova had to jog to follow her pace but stopped when the air chilled. It was dusk, but the sky darkened quicker than usual. The atmosphere changed to one that was all too familiar, and yet brand new at the same time. The demigoddess's breath shook as she couldn't contain her fear. "You've come back sooner than expected."
"That transfer program that has been rumoured is official," the girl said, clearly annoyed. "I can't just play nice and be chummy with all of them! This is complete rubbish."
"Listen, child," the voice said. It sounded like it was coming from all around them, and the voice belonged to no one in particular. Gaea was what immediately came to Nova's mind, but the voice was male. It was Ouranos, it had to be. "You said you wanted to fulfill your former Master's plans and kill that boy you keep talking about, didn’t you?"
"Yes."
"Seeing as you follow me now, you will abide by my rules," Ouranos commanded. "Go to this transfer program. Make friends with them or don't, it makes no difference to me. Follow the program, and update me monthly on what is going on. We cannot be hasty, patience is a must. When the time comes, you will help me regain my physical form, so I can destroy those wretched demigods and you can kill your enemy."
Nova watched the girl, knowing very well what Ouranos was doing. He made it seem like they were allies and working together when in reality, the Titan was in complete control. He was just going to kill her when he was done with her, and she didn’t stand a chance. "Thank you, Master Ouranos."
The sky lightened back to dusk, and the atmosphere changed back to normal. Nova found herself following the traitor back to the manor, but as she walked the scene began to melt away.
She couldn’t make sense of what she had just seen. The Sky Titan's voice was clear in her mind, but everything else was fuzzy when she woke up. Nova sat up, and placed her head in her hands, trying to process what had just happened. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah," Nova answered Payton, who had pulled back the curtains to sit on the edge of Nova's bed. Her arm was outstretched, holding Nova's water bottle out to her. "Thanks."
"Wanna talk about it?" Payton asked, a worried look in her eyes. Nova shook her head after taking a giant swig of water and took a deep breath.
"Not really, no," she sighed. "I'd rather process everything first."
"Maybe breakfast will help," she said.
"Ah, yes," Nova had a small amused smile on her face. "Eating. What a concept."
"Just get dressed so we can go," Payton laughed. After taking another minute trying to rack her brain for a clearer image of the nightmare, Nova got up and changed before grabbing a book and heading out.
The girls were silent as they made their way to The Great Hall, but the silence wasn't filled with as much tension as it had on the first night. While it was still heavy, Nova found herself feeling less apprehensive around her old enemy. Payton really did seem to want to be her friend, and even if last night's comment was a little odd, Nova knew in her heart that it was well-intended.
When they got to The Great Hall, the girls separated and Nova made a beeline for her usual group. She sat in between Cree and Percy, the table already in deep discussion about the teams being chosen tonight. She didn’t add much to the conversation, feeling drained. "Nova, is everything okay?"
"Nightmare," she shook her head, looking at Cree. "I'll be fine."
"What about?" Percy interjected, the group's attention shifting to The Head Girl.
"It was unclear, but I believe that one of the people in the dream was the traitor," she said. "I never saw their face, but they were talking to Ouranos. It felt more like I was in a Pensieve."
"Pensieve?"
"It stores memories," Harry explained. "Depending on the memory, it can feel like you're in a nightmare."
"And it felt like I was intruding on someone else's memory," Nova sighed. "But we shouldn't worry about that right now, there's still another eight hours for people to enter."
Nova took to people watching on the stairs again, paying more attention to the book in her hands than she was yesterday. "Didn’t realize this year would reopen old wounds."
"Neither did I," Nova said, turning to Harry. "How are you feeling?"
"Angry," he admitted. "But who isn’t?"
"You and Percy have the worst luck," she stated. "Once everything's calm, something else pops up."
"My scar hasn’t hurt, which is a bright side," Harry reached up and touched his forehead instinctively. "But it feels like it will any minute. As if I hadn’t actually killed him."
"Voldemort is dead, Harry," the witch reassured her friend. "We don’t have to worry about him."
"Just need to worry about something completely out of my range."
"Isn't that the point of this competition?" Nova chuckled darkly. "To ensure it won’t be?"
"Sound about right." Harry shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. The two of them ended up chatting for most of the day. Cree joined in later, stating that Nova's Head Girl duties have deprived him of time spent with her.
After dinner, the school settled into the balconies as if they were going through a sorting ceremony, waiting for the names to appear. Instead of Professor Tahamente making the speech, he left the floor to McGonagall. The woman managed to quiet the entire student body with one stern look, before beginning her speech. "In a moment, the fountain will reveal the teams. If your name is called, please make your way back into The Great Hall, and sit with your chosen partner. I will announce the names as they appear, and while this happens I expect there to be silence until the end."
The headmistress stepped back, and everyone watched as the fountain began to glow. The teams came up in four groups each time, and there were mixed reactions. "Harry Potter and Percy Jackson."
The two boys high fived, and happily descended down the stairs. No one was surprised at that pairing, many students finding it unfair. "Clarisse La Rue and Draco Malfoy."
Clarisse shoved past the Slytherin, making him stumble as he followed her. Draco didn't seem pleased either, his signature scowl on his face. "Jason Grace and Luna Lovegood."
A few classmates snickered, and Jason seemed a little worried. Luna was often in her own world, and to Jason, she didn’t seem like much of a fighter. "Leo Valdez and Hermione Granger."
Leo immediately tried to charm his new partner, and Hermione rolled her eyes at his attempt.  "Annabeth Chase and Seamus Finnigan."
The two walked in silence, Nova noticing the gears in Annabeth's head-turning. She never stops thinking about a strategy, even when she doesn't know the challenge at hand. "Hazel Levesque and Blaise Zabini."
Hazel glanced at her partner as they walked together, and Blaise was completely stone-faced. It was always hard to tell what he was thinking, but he had fought in the war against Voldemort with most of the Slytherins. "Nico di Angelo and Ginny Weasley."
Nova thought their dynamic would be interesting. Both were smart, but polar opposites as far as she was concerned. "Travis Stoll and Ronald Weasley."
It was almost like Ron was partnering up with one of his brothers, which screamed utter chaos. The next four teams came up quicker than the first two times, the air growing tenser as everyone anticipated who would be next. "Meg McCaffery and Neville Longbottom."
Everyone tried to hold back a snicker while watching Neville glance at the short and temperamental thirteen-year-old. Meg had given Neville a once over, before nodding once in approval and bounding down the stairs. "Piper McLean and Dean Thomas."
Dean smiled at Piper, and they started chatting in low voices. The demigoddess could tell they'd make a great team and smiled to herself. "Frank Zhang and Pansy Parkinson."
Murmurs started, and Frank was clearly nervous. He stopped at Nova and whispered to her. "Should I be worried?"
"A little bit, yeah," Nova told him. "I'm sure if you sit with Hazel it'll be fine. Blaise can keep Pansy in her lane."
"Thanks," Frank audibly gulped and made his way down to an annoyed Slytherin, who glared at the Praetor. McGonagall cleared her throat to tell the school to be quiet and continued.
"Kayla Knowles and Cree Fletcher."
Cree looked at Nova for guidance, and she assured him that Kayla would be a fantastic partner. Relieved, he left her side and met the archer a the bottom of the stairs. From where Nova stood, she could see that those two were already getting along, and it made her relax significantly. Cree was her best friend and if anyone would make sure he made it through this alive, she was glad Kayla was that person.
The rest of the teams were called out, and by the end of it, everyone was either bored or fidgety. "Would our Head Boy and Girl please join us in The Great Hall, as well as Will Solace. As for the rest of you, you may go to the lodges, and get ready for the campfire."
"Why are they asking for me?" Will asked as the three students made their way in.
"I'm guessing it's because they want the healers to be in the loop," Nova told him. "Chiron likely mentioned that you'd be an important asset."
Nova often aided the Apollo kids, and especially Will, when they needed an extra medic. The two of them had taught each other different healing techniques, and Nova supplied the camp with healing potions. It benefited them in the wars they fought within a year of each other.
"Congratulations to all of you that were chosen for the championship," Professor Tahamente smiled at the group. "There will be many trials and tribulations ahead of us, but please remember that this is about building teamwork and developing a bond that may assist us all in the future. Our first task at hand will take place on Saturday, November 21. In the Quad next week, we will set up stations for each of your teams to build a chariot together. Lucas and Nova will oversee it in shifts to ensure there is fair play. We will have Pukwudgie guarding the area during the night so that we can make sure there won’t be any sabotage.
"Will Solace will act as one of the healers on sight during the competition. The others will be Nurse Hawkins, Madame Pomphrey, and Nova Sterling. There will be no additions to the chariots that can potentially ruin another team's chariot during the race, and we will be checking for any extra charms on the chariots that could allow anyone to cheat. As for specific rules of the games, that will be revealed on game day. Are we clear?"
"Yes, sir," Everyone chorused.
"If you have any questions in between now and the day of the competition, please don’t hesitate to ask," Tahamente smiled. He dismissed the group and stepped away from the podium. As soon as they all made it to the campfire, the teams were greeted by applause.
Some students basked in the attention, others seemed nervous. The only thing certain at the moment was that the dynamics were about to change.

Grease Spot, Birthday Cake and Musicals
John Bender x reader
Author’s note: 1. I know this universe is like 80’s to mid 80’s but like I reference play rehearsals for Phantom of The Opera, it’s my favorite so we’re using it. 2. Queen in the early years had some really rock/ thrash rock hits like Stone Cold Crazy, I think John would have liked Queen so that’s that. 3, I know the request said small gift but come on.
Warning: Sex is mentioned. *It’s John Bender, come on*
Tumblr media
Y/n is the top of her class at Shermer High, and the leading lady in most of the school plays. This makes her one of the cool nerds. No one would ever guess that she frequently slept with John, and neither of them got much sleep on those nights. Brian, one of Y/n’s friends knew the tell tale signs of those nights.
Brian scrunches his nose smelling the remnants of strongly brewed tea, as Y/n stops by her locker beside him.
Closing his locker he asks “ Why with him?”
“I like sleeping with him.” She whispers.” Besides you said he wasn’t that bad after your stint in detention.”
“He’s not. Just be careful.” Brian pats her on the shoulder and walking with her to English class, the last class of the day.
Y/n starts writing notes about the naturalistic literary movement and then pulls out another sheet writes ‘You comin’ over?’, crumbles it up and tosses it behind her to John when the teacher isn’t looking.
The paper ball hits her on the back of the head and drops to the floor. Y/n picks it up and uncrumples it under her desk. In John’s chicken-scratch of handwriting reads ‘If you want me tonight sure.’ Y/n rolls her eyes and writes a response of : ‘Got a surprise for you, birthday boy.’ As she writes this the teacher calls on her to explain the main theme of naturalism.
“The main theme of naturalism in literature is that nature doesn’t care if you’re a man you’ll die.” Y/n answers much to the teacher’s surprise.
“You’re correct, Ms.L/N, but do pay attention.” The teacher says turning her back to the class and writing on the board.
“Yes, ma’m.” Y/n says tossing back the paper ball.
The bell rings and Y/n and John leave at the same time.
“You don’t have to anything special, not like you’re my girl or nothin.” He whispers passing her.
‘He’s right, I’m not his girl’ Y/n thinks. She’d like to be his girl, even if everyone she talks to is against him. Most annoyingly Claire. For a girl who kissed him, you’d think she’d think better of him. Y/n runs to the auditorium for Phantom of the Opera rehearsal. Honestly she thinks the theater teacher is crazy for trying to even put this on. Michael and herself are the only ones who can sing. Claire was put in the role of Carlotta, the prima donna, which seemed fitting since her attitude during rehearsals.
The darkened auditorium was easy to sneak into. John snuck into the back but then saw Brian go upstairs to rehearse the lighting gues. He follows Brian up the stairs.
“Hey Jimmy, it’s my turn with the..” Brian stops when he turns and sees John, “ You’re not allowed up here.”
John balls up his fist.
“Take a seat.” Brian pulls out a second stoll.
John sits and looks over the railing. “ You can see everything from up here.”
“Yup. So is Y/n your girl or something?” Brian asks turning on the light and moving it to the side as to not blind the actors on stage.
“Nope, just a friend.” John answers telling the half-truth.
“That you have sex with.” Brian points out.
“Let’s not get vulgar.” John smirks.
The theater teacher looks up and shouts at Brian,” Look ready, start of Think of me.”
Brian grabs the light and tilts it towards the stage getting Y/n in the center of it as the surrounding lights fade. John watches Y/n as she begins singing.
‘Think of all the things
We’ve shared and seen
Don’t think about the things
Which might have been’
John thinks about a few things, one Y/n is the one girl who he always comes back to, she doesn’t ask questions about the burns on his wrists, just nurses any new ones. Y/n keeps her bedroom window unlocked so he can sneak in after a bad night of getting hit. She keeps a first aid kit in her room for this reason. The one time she slept over at his house, well that went about as well as he expected. His dad called her a whore, then his mom said “ She’s not a whore, he’s not paying her, that’s a stupid whore.”
“She’s the best singer in the whole school.” Brian says drawing John out of his thoughts.
“She’s good, it’s not really rock.” John shrugs his jacket partially covering his Queen shirt.
“You know, that you can actually talk to girls you like right.” Brian says.
“Shut up, what do you know about girls.” John snaps.
“I know that you like her, and I’m one of her friends.” Brian cuts off the light as rehearsals begin to end
“You tell her I like her, I will knock you into next week.” John threatens.
“So you do like her, since you threatened me.” Brian smiles.
John shoves Brian out of the chair and leaves the auditorium.
------At Y/n’s house------
John sits on the back porch swing waiting for Y/n to stop talking to her parents and for them to leave for the long weekend. Y/n told him they were going to Nevada for a Dentist convention, which sounds just as boring as to him as it did to Y/n when they told her. The parents leave out of the front door and he comes in the back.
“So what’s the surprise.” John makes himself comfortable in a chair leaning his arms on the back of the chair.
Y/n opens the fridge then shuts it quickly “ Close your eyes, no peeking.”
John smirks but closes his eyes trying not to laugh at her being this secretive about his birthday surprise.
“Okay, you can open.” Y/n says.
When John opens his eyes, he sees a big homemade chocolate cake in front of him with a candle lit and his lighter sitting beside it. On the other side of the table is a black mechanics tool case, and a helmet. He’s shocked. He kind of thought the surprise was sex but this is more than he thought she’d do.
“John, are you gonna say something.” Y/n is convinced he hates this.
“Why the tools, and the helmet, I don’t have a bike.”
“Remember when we hopped the fence to my uncle’s junk yard if though the gate was unlocked, and you saw a cherry red bike that you said needs some tlc and parts.”
“Yeah.” John says still a little in shock.
“Well he won’t be needing it in prison so, I took it. It’s in the garage with some parts” Once Y/n told John where the bike was he was out the door to the garage and down the stairs.
Y/n follows him laughing. He looks like a kid on Christmas morning, or at least a normal kid on Christmas. Not like the Christmases John experienced.
She finds him sitting by the bike just looking at it and the parts Y/n thought to take as well.
John then looks up at her, a little suspiciously.
“Why?” He asks. “Why all this for me?”
“Dunno,” Y/n shrugs, “ I like seeing you, around. That’s all”
John face changes into a smile.
“You like seeing me around. Just like or like like.” He teases.
Y/n’s face feels hot.
“This is why I didn’t want to tell you.” She leans against the box of parts.  “I know you don’t do one girl one guy stuff.”
“Who says I don’t.” John says
“You.” Y/n pokes him the chest
“Well maybe I’ve changed my mind.” John gently pulls Y/n onto his lap.
“Maybe?” She questions looking up at him from his lap.
“Yeah on one condition.” John nods.
“What?” Y/n is a little confused as to where this is going, and to who he wants to be his girl.
“You say yes to being my girl.” John kisses her.
Y/n pulls away “ John, the answers yes.”
“Then why’d you pull away.” He asks.
“I’m sitting in a puddle of grease, and my ass is wet.” Y/n answers getting up, slipping on the grease.
John catches her, slings her over his shoulder, and runs inside for one long weekend of fixing a bike and birthday sex.

Breaking Ice and Locks
Connor needs some medical attention whilst he makes a new friend, Lina.
Connor woke up in the infirmary. He hadn’t expected to get so hurt on his arrival, but he was happy that there were at least nurses around to help him out. The last face he saw was Percy’s, damn had he got old. Well actually, they were all getting old. He looked around him, taking in the surroundings. With a groggy groan, he called out to the girl who sat on the bed next to her. “You seem grand.” He said with a laugh, flinching as his body hurt. “Better than I’m going anyway.”
Lina looks over at the man who called over to her. She was getting her wound checked out, the nurse clicking her tongue at her. She seemed to need stitches to make sure that it would stay closed. “Got stabbed with a spear during a cave in. What about you?” She said casually. She wasn’t sure who he was but he was definitely new. “You’re not from New Rome.”
“A cave in sounds horrible.” He shuddered, remembering the brief time of the Labyrinth. “Also, stab wounds suck.” Connor hadn’t really been stabbed before, just scratches and gashes. “No, not from New Rome. I’m actually here visiting.” He said, wincing as he moved to make himself more comfortable. “Who stabbed you?”
“We got out after a few hours, but it wasn’t great. It was kind of eye opening in a way,” Lina replied not overly bothered by the whole cave in situation. She hated how it happened but she couldn’t change anything. “Why would you visit in the middle of a war?” She couldn’t fathom the idea that he would pop in at a time like this. “Don’t know. Happened while the cave was collapsing.”
Connor returned to the center of his bed and looked up at the ceiling. “I didn’t know there was a war going on. Nobody knows I guess.” He shrugged. He was becoming restless and with a sigh he tried to sit up. A few moans later, he was sitting upright on the side of the Infirmary bed. “Sounds terrible to be honest. Accidental stabs. Gross.” He slid off his bed onto his feet and his knees almost buckled beneath him, but he refused to give in. “As for me, I’m brand new.” He life through the pain, wanting to be released from hospital and go find Percy.
“Well, someone better tell them. Maybe we’ll even get reinforcements if we do,” Lina said lightly, even though she did want the reinforcements, she knew that a good amount of those from Half Blood were younger than those who lived in New Rome. They didn’t need more kids fighting this war. “It was even grosser when we had to burn the wound closed using gunpowder. Fun fact, flesh doesn’t smell good when it’s burnt.” She looked at him with her eyebrows raised. “Get back into bed. They’ll make you stay here longer if you don’t.”
Connor shrugged. “If the Greeks come here, who’s going to protect Camp?” It was a simple reason, and he knew that way too many of the kids there had already been in one war too many. He remembered the losses from previous wars, he didn’t want people to go through that. “I’m here now, so I may as well help.” He took the others advice and sat back down into the bed, but refusing to lay back down, swinging his legs off the edge of the bed. “As for flesh being burnt, I know.” He winced, remembering the smell too clearly for his liking. “What were you doing in the cave in the first place?”
“Better them there anyway. Children shouldn’t be near here until things are safe again. They’re younger there, aren’t they?” Lina asked, curiously. She had never been there, she never planned to go. “What happened to you that had you burning flesh?” She was oddly curious about the whole situation. “We took the imperial gold mine from the Romans for a moment.”
“Yeah,” He pursed his lips, “They pretty much are. I’m one of the eldest there now,and I’m not that old anyway.” Connor said with a shrug. It had always been that way, bringing in young kids to safety, and finding it hard to leave as the years pass. Although it had become rather loney, being older meant you found it harder to relate to this kids. “Oh, I’ve never had to burn my own flesh, but I’m smelt it before on the battlefield, defending Olympus, the attack on Camp Half-Blood, nasty stuff.” His eyes lit up, actually, if you looked into them, you’d probably see a small twinkle in them. “A whole Imperial gold mine? Here?” His imagination ran wild with the things he’d be able to buy by selling that gold. “Where?”
“Yeah, well I’m considered pretty young here, at twenty six. So we sincerely don’t need anymore kids on the battlefield. Got enough teenagers getting hurt out there.” Lina had seen so many teenagers laying down their lives for this. She knew she had done the same at their age, but now it made her feel ill. “I had smelt it before too, battlefields, but knowing it’s your own flesh makes it kind of worse.” She said, thinking back to how she had thrown up right after she had gotten it done. Her eyes narrowed at him,”No. The cave in has taken out a main entrance, the entire system could be unstable, not to mention swarming with Romans.”
“Oh, no. Not that I wanted to go, I was just wondering. We don’t have a mine back at camp, so I’m interested, that’s all.” Connor lied with a weak smile. “Hm, so you’re from New Rome then? A Roman on the Greeks side? That’s pretty interesting. Aren’t you afraid of what would happen after the war?” As much as she has helped the Greek forces, he doubted she could go back to her old life and still be accepted wholesomely. “Do you come from a position of power?” He asked, there was something about her that made him think she was a leader of some sort. Damn, he really should have done some more research before coming over. “I’m Connor by the way, Connor Stoll.”
Lina’s eyes were narrowed on him,”Okay. If your curiosity takes you there, know you’re probably going to get arrested by the Romans.” She didn’t need anyone near that cave, not when they had lost so many people just a little while ago. “Yeah, I was in the Legion for eleven years before defecting. I was the centurion of the fourth.” She shrugged, her face emotionless, but her shoulders tense. “I won’t get my job back, my career in politics and the Legion is over, I’m not trusted anymore with them. I’ll have to figure something else out. I’m sure the potion shop needs someone to work there.” She didn’t want to give up teaching, she wanted to keep helping, but at this point it was looking rather unlikely. “Kolina Valla. Call me Lina.”
“I’ve been arrested once already. Connor sighed, “Not even a minute in a new city and I already have a criminal record.” He couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m sure I can take care of myself, unless they devise a new way to keep me in prison that doesn’t include locks.” Hopefully they wouldn’t realize he couldn’t unlock cursed locks. Or perhaps they already knew due to their own children of Mercury. “Ah, a Centurion. You’re speaking to a camp counselor, same thing.” He shrugged. It was in a way but it also wasn’t the same at all. “A potion shop doesn’t sound terrible, I guess that means you’re a child of the goddess of magic?” He asked curiously. “Nice to meet you Lina.”
“Everyone on this side has a record, I mean even Blossom’s been arrested before and she pets chipmunks for fun. So you’re not in bad company.” Lina said lightly. “You know how to pick locks? Always wanted to learn how to do that. Probably would have come in handy when they had me in cuffs.” Honestly, things would have gone so differently, if she had been out of the power cuffs. “I mean, in the way we take care of younger people, but I was also in charge of a large amount of the army New Rome had.” Camp counselor didn’t really match up to centurion in Lina’s mind. “Trivia, yes. Things could be worse than working in a potion shop. Might work on breaking cursed objects too, who knows?”
Connor grinned at that, petting chipmunks for fun. “Yes, I do know how, but that’s not what I did.” He shrugged. He had learnt to pick locks a long time ago, second nature now, but luckily his father had granted him with a gift. “I can unlock them without even touching them, just need a little concentration, that’s all.” He listened to her explain Centurion, he, along with Travis, had led their cabin in the battle of manhattan and the attack of camp half-blood. They just didn’t have official war armour or heavy military training. Connor furrowed his eyebrows, he hated having to know the different counterparts for the gods, now it sounded like he was going to have to remember who was who again. “Hey, maybe I could help you with the cursed objects part. I can uncurse cursed locks, but it’s pretty difficult.”
“Well, Blossom lead a rally about Greek Pride and peace. So of course, the backward government that New Rome is decided to punish her for it. The chipmunk petting wasn’t why she got arrested” Lina was still rather annoyed about Blossom getting arrested. She was annoyed about how Blossom was treated in general. “Want to teach me how to? They always put me in power inhibitors so I can’t even use my magic to get them off.” She tilted her head at him, now that was interesting. “I haven’t heard of that before, I’d love to see what extent that goes to. I wonder how powerful the curses can be and you still open them.”
“I could probably pick locks in my sleep, teaching someone how to do it though, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to.” Connor paused, “but I’ll definitely try. Power inhibitors sounds like a pain in the ass.” He didn’t have many powers like children of Hecate or Trivia, but if he did, he’d hate to have them stolen from him. “We can try, although we could probably only do one cursed lock a day.” It took so much from him, with Travis around, it was easier. But right now, he’d have to do it on his own, which, he was capable of doing.
“I’m pretty good at picking things up,” Lina assured him, even though she had the vague feeling that picking a lock was going to be harder than she expected. She’d always used her magic for that type of thing. At least while she was on bed rest, she’d have something to do. “It’s like someone taking away a limb, a part of me was missing when I had them on. It lasts for a little while too. You don’t get it back right away.” She subconsciously rubbed her wrists, thinking over the feeling again. “I enjoy working with curses and cursed objects, so that is quite an interesting power you have.”
“Thank you.” Connor said with a grin and a nod, just as he did so, a nurse walked in and scolded him for sitting up. He groaned and lay back down into the bed as the nurse did a few checks. “I guess the lock picking skills workshop is going to have to wait until I’m released from here.” He rolled his eyes as the nurse said that his medication might make him feel drowsy. “They always say that, but I honestly never feel any difference.” He said to his new friend. As the words came out his mouth, his eyelids felt heavy. “Aw shit, this stuff is like edibles, they doesn’t do anything until they hears you talking shit about them.” He said, finding it harder and harder to stay awake. “I -- It was nice meeting you though, I’ll see you around.” And with that, he fell into medical induced sleep, which was probably better for his health, he wouldn’t have been able to keep himself in bed if they hadn’t knocked him out.
