River Where The Moon Rises:
Starring Na In-Woo as On Dal, Kim So-Hyun as Princess Pyeong/Yeom Ga-Jin, Heo Jung-Eun as the younger Princess, and others.
I was instantly captivated by the story. And it didn’t take long for that sweet innocent princess to become one of the best assassins around. In-Woo is so darn adorable! He plays the fool superbly and the transition into a fighter is seamless. He and Go-Hyun have great chemistry and fit well together. The storyline is progressing perfectly - not too slow to bore you and not too fast where details are left out.
09/19/2021: The premise of the series is that the Queen is killed but the young Princess was able to escape with the help from the chief’s son, On Dal. Later it shows an older Princess as one of the best assassins around using the name Yeom Ga-Jin and she has no memory of her past. It was happenstance that she ran into On Dal and she viewed him as a fool. Her mission was to kill the King but when she came face-to-face with him memories began to flood back. On Dal was able to save her life and brought her to the Ghost Village.
These people were the survivors of the massacre when the Queen was killed. On Dal’s father, the tribal chief, was killed as a traitor. For On Dal, seeing Ga-Jin was love at first sight. As Ga-Jin learned he was no fool, she fell in love with him. Eventually Ga-Jin had to admit she was the missing Princess and was taken into the castle.
Ga-Jin’s martial arts instructor, Go Geon, had been in love with her even before she went missing. Geon was good and faithful to the King. His father, Go Won-Pyo, was the cause of the Queen’s murder. When the Queen and Princess went on the Royal Tour of the Tribes, he told the King that the Queen was going to one tribe to see the monk. (It makes it seem that this monk might be Ga-Jin’s actual father. I am on episode 12 and that story hasn’t come to light yet). In a fit of anger and jealousy the King orders the death of the Queen and Won-Pyo carries out the order himself. While running away Ga-Jin saw the uncontrollable rage of her father as he was cutting down the villagers.
She was found and given a potion that her memories and then she was given to a man to be raised as his daughter. Later the King discovers that the monk was on a month-long sabbatical and was not even in the village. He then realizes that he had had her killed for no reason. Won-Pyo has a herbalist giving the King medicine that made him drunk and woozy to the point that Won-Pyo was taking over the kingdom.
With the return of his daughter, the King stopped taking the medication and started realizing Won-Pyo’s intentions. Go even suggested that the Princess be married to his son, Geon, who was Captain of the Guard. Being in love with her all this time he was overjoyed, but to keep from being forced to marry, Ga-Jin announced that On Dal was her husband. Being humiliated the King banished her. Geon was devastated and tried to kill On Dal. Even after Ga-Jin tells him she is sorry but her heart belongs to another, Geon is still making plans as to how to get her for himself. (I am so devastated that Geon is becoming like his father. He had promised his devotion to the Princess, but his jealousy was getting the best of him).
She and On-Dal decided to carry on the fake marriage and were forced to live together in the village. She began to train On Dal in martial arts and swordsmanship and was convincing the villagers that they needed to get an army together to fight and reclaim what they had lost. Ga-Jin takes On Dal to the monk for training. This monk had been a high ranking General in the King’s army.
