What is a Deckhand? ⚓️ YachtieWorld

A deckhand is an entry-level position aboard luxury yachts with primary duties, including cleaning and maintaining the vessel's exterior. Deckhands report to the first mate or Bosun onboard larger yachts. It is essential that the deckhand performs assigned tasks efficiently with a positive attitude and must be able to interact with owners and guests professionally. A deckhand must be very meticulous and careful. Attention to detail and an ability and willingness to work hard is essential. Responsibilities: *  The cleanliness and maintenance of the exterior, including everything outside above the waterline, and underneath the vessel. * Assisting Bosun and mate in maintenance projects; sanding and taping up for varnishing or painting, caulking, filling, fiberglass repair, maintaining the various toys onboard (Jet Ski's, tenders, Jacuzzi * Continued learning of yacht maintenance, operations, and systems; line handling, tender driving, navigation, safety, water sports Required Skills * Good work ethic ✅ * Positive attitude ✅ * Teamwork ✅ * Ability to learn on the job ✅ * Ability to take direction ✅ * Professional appearance ✅ .
