Nothing better than a good ol’ sickfic, lads. Seeing one partner suffer while the other does their best to care for them? Such a great subgenre to Hurt/Comfort. And as a longtime connoisseur of H/C, I always appreciate it.

Adam is such a precious bean of a character, it’s very easy to find myself on his side. I find him relatable in many ways, but maybe especially when he’s sick. Makes me wish I had a Nigel of my own to look after me, you know? Speaking of Nigel, he is so SOFT when it comes to Adam. Like, seriously. If you saw the character (or the movie he’s from, I think? Never seen it myself), you wouldn’t think he could be so adorable. And loving. But he is, man.

I love established relationship Spacedogs so much. First meetings are great too, but there’s just something about seeing them already together that makes my heart sing. Also the fact that these two guys ended up together at all. From the outside, it might seem silly, to put these two characters from completely different movies (not even in a shared universe!) together. And it kind of is, but at the same time… it’s perfect. They work well together. Plus, it’s really fucking cute.

In any fic like this, the main draw (for me at least) is the comfort. Even if a story is 90% Hurt and only 10% Comfort, if that comfort is strong enough, it still evens out. And the comfort in this one is excellent. Almost nothing warms my heart more than Nigel gently helping Adam to the bathroom, then bringing in some pillows and a blanket so they can both be comfortable spending the night there while Adam’s sick. Keyword: Both. He’s not going to leave Adam to suffer alone. Ugh. So cute.

I adore this fic. Hate to see my baby hurt, but love to watch him get that sweet, sweet comfort.
