Bijna 2.000 Nederlandse scouts vertrekken in 2023 naar Zuid-Korea om deel te nemen aan de World Scout Jamboree, het grootste internationale Scoutingkamp ter wereld dat eens in de vier jaar wordt georganiseerd. Hier komen ruim 50.000 scouts uit meer dan 150 verschillende landen samen voor een onvergetelijke ervaring. Uit Noord-Holland vertrekken 127 jonge scouts in de zomer van 2023 naar Zuid-Korea. De 1250 jeugddeelnemers vormen samen met 700 vrijwilligers de Nederlandse afvaardiging voor de World Scout Jamboree in Zuid-Korea. Alle jeugddeelnemers zijn ingedeeld in 35 troepen. Elke troep heeft een eigen naam en logo en bestaat uit 36 jonge scouts en 4 begeleidende stafleden. In het komende jaar staan er een aantal kennismakingsweekenden op de planning om de scouts voor te bereiden op deze bijzondere reis. In de voorbereidingsweekenden is eerst het kennismaken belangrijk, maar ook het leren van elkaar, het samen voorbereiden, de normen en waarden en het samenleven met andere culturen staan op het programma. Ook maken ze in de voorbereiding al kennis met de Zuid-Koreaanse cultuur en gebruiken, zodat ze zich tijdens de reis door Zuid-Korea ook prima weten te redden. Uiteraard is er genoeg gelegenheid om elkaar goed te leren kennen, zodat ze als hechte vriendengroep op reis gaan. In 1937 en 1995 werd de World Scout Jamboree in Nederland georganiseerd. In 2023 organiseert Zuid-Korea de World Scout Jamboree van 1 t/m 12 augustus 2023. Tijdens een World Scout Jamboree kamperen scouts uit de hele wereld op hetzelfde terrein, leren ze elkaar kennen en maken ze kennis met elkaars culturen, gewoontes en gebruiken. Samen met een reis door Zuid-Korea maakt dit alles het tot een onvergetelijke ervaring voor jeugddeelnemers.

I’ve been back from World Scout Jamboree for over a week now and I finally have some time to reflect on what an amazing experience it was. We once again broke new ground as New World Live! brought the stories of the jamboree to an international audience.
