The people whose work is caring for this mountain are pretty darn awesome.
From the paid employees, to concession employees, to volunteers and interns, these folks make everything happen at this national park.
From plowing open roads for the summer, to checking on the backcountry toilets (maybe that should be “toilets”), there’s a lot of work that has to be done so we can recreate and relax.
Whether helping to open a visitor center or clean up a trail, volunteers and interns have gone that extra step to provide a positive experience for the visiting public.
To one and all of our caring workforce, thank you!

There’s No Better Career Than One in Oil and Gas

The oil and gas industry offers the most rewarding careers out there. They provide good pay, job satisfaction and the reward of doing important things.
The U.S. Shale Revolution and its abundant production (in Pennsylvania and nationally) has and will continue to advance the journey toward energy independence, to save households thousands of dollars in energy prices, reduce emissions, and provide jobs to a growing workforce. All of these factors help facilitate a healthy economy and a secure future, which most Americans can get behind.
According to a 2018 report done by American Petroleum Insitute (API), the natural gas and oil industry is a major source of job opportunities in the United States. API explains that the industry currently supports more than 10.3 million U.S. jobs and an IHS report projects 1.9 million direct job opportunities will be available through 2035. Of those, nearly one million jobs can are characterized as semi-skilled and skilled craft trade positions.
Building off of that, the Ohio Oil & Gas Energy Education Program’s (OOGEEP) and the API, via their Oil & Gas Workforce website, teamed up to highlight career opportunities available in the industry using an in-depth video campaign.
OOGEEP compiled a list of 75+ oil and gas related career opportunities along with descriptions, minimum education requirements, and available educational / training programs. This multi-year video project provides insight into the day-to-day work that can be expected for each position. You can expect to see a video highlighted each Wednesday on our Twitter and LinkedIn, dubbing it #WorkforceWednesday.
Here’s an overview of all of the careers portrayed in the video series:
‘Career Guides’ are available both from OOGEEP & API.
For additional resources in finding a career in the industry, read more at www.oilgasworkforce.org
