Rare images of a leafcutter bee sharing its nest with a wolfspider:

These photographs were taken in Queensland, Australia, by an amateur photographer named Laurence Sanders.

The leafcutter bee (Megachile macularis) can be seen fetching freshly-cut leaves, which she uses to line the inner walls of her nest. The wolfspider moves aside, allowing the bee to enter the nest, and then simply watches as the leaf is positioned along the inner wall.

After inspecting the nest together, they return to their resting positions -- sitting side-by-side in the entryway to the nest.

The bee seems completely at ease in the presence of the wolfspider, which is normally a voracious predator, and the spider seems equally unfazed by the fact that it shares its burrow with an enormous bee.

This arrangement is completely unheard of, and the images are a fascinating sight to behold.

Forced myself to finally finish this. Very unhappy with the last panel, but it would be stuck in wip hell forever, if I just didn't ignore it.

This fucking section. A character isn't even on screen, and we still get a sense of how deep her sorrow and betrayal runs in the most dramatic way possible. A hundred dogs crying out, because one human throat couldn't express the sheer size of the hurt. And it interrupts Taylor mid-speech on live television! Millions of homes watching one of the most important news broadcasts of their lives are witnesses as the speech has to be paused, as so many televisions around the world play the sound of howling dogs, because nothing else can express what's being felt! Fuck!

Every part of this book expressly about Rachel and Taylor's relationship to each other is a high point. This is how you write melodrama.

I think it's really interesting how early in worm, Lisa tells Taylor how Rachel's mind was altered to understand dogs and she lost her ability to do the same for humans, and that if they told Rachel then she'd probably break down. Wish that was explored sometime in the text, with Rachel realizing that the the dogs she loves are the reason she feels so alien and alone, and breaking down crying and howling and punching and not knowing how to deal with this until Taylor sits by her without speaking and pulls her into a hug and Rachel doesn't know how to interpret the hug but knows enough to figure out that Taylor is trying to make her feel better and she tries to hug back and it's awkward but she's sobbing on Taylor's shoulder while Taylor runs her fingers through her hair, and even if she lost her ability to understand people, Taylor understands her and she means so much to her and they're gay if this wasn't clear
