#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Moon Knight vol. 9#Moon Knight 2021#Moon Knight comics#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#tbh you could go full heckin’ Hobbesian analysis here if you wanted to#Does man’s nature destine him for a life that is “solitary poor nasty brutish and short”?#without societal constraints would we be as violent as Zodiac here?#Furthermore putting aside the bigger picture what about MARC?#As has been frequently alluded to is Marc of a nature that is /particularly/ inclined to Hobbesian ills?#I would argue that BECAUSE Marc is fully cognizant of his capability to commit violence and pointedly restrains himself#that that is more reflective of who he is as a person than anything else#it would have been easy to keep living “freely” as a self-serving mercenary but he made the choice to stand up to Bushman#and he’s been actively making the choice to protect others ever since at great personal cost#THAT takes great strength of character; that he even had the inclination to start down that path#let alone stick with it#and then we come back to the question of what’s “real”#which setting aside the joke (and postmodern observation) that one could argue that everything including societal norms is “made up”#to a certain degree#Mr. Lemire already made the wonderful point that something only needs to be “real enough” to Marc in order to be valid#Marc’s got enough on his plate without having to justify his morals/way of living to a villain#anyway don’t mind my usual rambling in the tags hahaha
