I think the issue more than the simple editing is a) the inability to produce a non edited photo and b) blaming it on Catherine herself. Both of these things are only going to fuel conspiracies - I say this as someone who firmly believes that she is simply recovering from abdominal surgery. But it’s not a stretch to say KP have completely messed up the PR and invited the speculation and continue to do so by not setting it straight properly. So no the blurry steps won’t topple an institution, but the image of said institution as being dishonest and throwing its own Princess of wales under the bus sure doesn’t help

I honestly do not think it’s a big deal. The cheating bullshit has died down and resurfaces every few months with almost no traction. The photo is edited as is literally every single photo released by every single royal in the world. I remember Charlotte’s first Christmas, there was a bunch of discourse about her little shoe on the ground and the shadows associated with the way she was sitting on Kate’s lap. Is Kate a graphic designer? No. The insinuation that she meant something harmful by editing her photo more poorly than usual? That’s batshit, and that will die down. In a week, nobody sane is going to say “we can’t trust our next Queen because she photoshopped a sweater cuff.”

And the team very much did not throw Kate under the bus. The team NEVER would have never signed the statement “-C” without her knowing. They’d be fired so fast they wouldn’t know what hit them. Kate did that herself - like I said the other day, the apology came from Kate, not HRH The Princess of Wales. The conspiracies are nothing. The palace has already reiterated their original information about Kate’s return and the stupid shit will all but disappear once she’s back. Sure, it’ll come back up (the conspiracies and the photo) every once in a while, especially when she inevitably takes a long break in August and while the kids are in school, but after her recovery and return after Easter, this will all be a meme. It’s already a meme - two different people sent me a photoshopped pic of Kate the day after her wedding walking out of BP hand in hand with Pete Davidson. A few weeks of making fun of Kate online is not going to hurt her image. It will die down, as it always does with Kate.

I won’t even say that KP invited the speculation. They said Kate would be back after Easter and reiterated that remained the same after the speculation and #WhereIsKate really took off. There’s nothing left for them to do other than live stream Kate’s recovery and post-surgery treatment and have the doctors give a press conference from the throne room once a week. KP did what they could do. The answer is to let #WhereIsKate roll off their backs until she returns.

They can’t combat the internet. We saw this with Harry and Meghan - they can’t combat the stupid shit every time it arises. The logic we have been trying to apply to the Sussexes all this time holds in this current situation with Kate/KP. Address it once maximum and move on. You cannot stop people from talking, all you can do is move past it.

This is so unserious. It is not a big deal. It reflects mildly on Kate right now in the media and she cannot get out there to directly combat the conspiracy bullshit, but that will end in a few weeks and we’ll go to business as usual in a few weeks after that max. The media forgets quickly and the general population on internet forgets even faster. We’re the ones who will remember because we’re active watchers. We can all collectively come to the rational conclusion that this is not a big deal and will not affect Kate’s reputation long-term if we take ourselves out of our bubble and think about this broadly. Wait until she busts out a tiara or hugs a child or wears a beautiful gown or makes a cheeky comment to William - it’ll all go back to business as usual. Pretty princess who is good with kids. She’s far more than that, as we know, but that’s what the media presents her as, and that’s what it’ll go back to, and that’s what the general public will go back to as well, for the most part.

This has literally no effect on the institution or Kate long term. Currently? Yes, it’s a headline and the talk of the town. But if Kate’s image can weather topless photos, her husband’s alleged cheating, the Sussex bullshit, racism accusations, etc. then it can definitely handle #WhereIsKate and the photoshopped picture. Give it a month or two. It’ll all be water under the bridge.

It is so unserious it’s actually funny.

Do you think that some of this animosity against C&C is the result of ageism? The fans who are the most rabid supporters of W&K also seem to be the ones who comment constantly on how hot William is, how beautiful Catherine is. While all of these comments are, indeed, true--you've met them and can attest to the veracity of these statements--any comments about how work-shy these two are are met with screams of denial. They have a family! They also have a job, which they are not doing. If Camilla is out there pressing hands, it's in service of her own ego. Yet, if Prince Philip were doing the SAME things that Queen Camilla is doing now, he would be praised as a supporter of his wife, and not an evil man basking in the PR. Queen Camilla appears in the same jewels the Queen wore and Queen Elizabeth was oohed and aahed over, but what nerve Queen Camilla has to wear the SAME EXACT jewelry. The last time I looked, Camilla was Queen. Why shouldn't she wear these jewels? They weren't Elizabeth's. They belong to the Crown. But let's hand out tiaras to Catherine like they're Smarties because she's so perfect. More tiaras for Kate. I mean, it's unhinged.

Two elderly people in their 70s aren't the clickbait that W&C are. Acknowledged. But being fandom means that we have this ridiculous ship war because that is what this is even if people don't want to acknowledge it. Charles is King for as long as he wants to be. That's a fact, and royal watchers who are obsessed with tiaras and the length of Catherine's hair and William's abs really need to take a few breaths and step back. I like both couples. I think Charles is weak regarding his youngest son, and I think that William and Catherine are abusing their privilege. That doesn't mean that I don't appreciate both couples' efforts on behalf of the UK.

i think it's more prejudice of the adulter/mistress combined with the fact that neither of them are conventionally attractive. william isn't either, really, but he has a natural presence that adds to it. that's where my own feelings about them come in, but i maintain that their beauty goes far beyond their looks - they are genuinely warm, fuzzy, cosy people. their auras are so comforting

i think for many royal watchers it's easy to support those in your generation - millenials especially have a connection with W&K because we "grew up" with them. even us baby millenials watched their romance in real time. our kids will have more of a connection with George/Charlotte/Louis because they're 'their' royals, you know?

I think Charles is weak regarding his youngest son, and I think that William and Catherine are abusing their privilege

The hypocrisy when it comes to how the press and royal watchers treat William and Kate vs everyone else is frustrating. If it weren't for the hypocrisy it would be fine but it really irritates my sense of fair play.

The Camilla on vacation thing only bugs me because of the she's so hard working William needs to step up more... Such a devoted wife... But if William worked all the time he'd be a bad husband for not taking care of his wife... If he went on vacation people would be crying for him to not be the next in line...

The hypocrisy is astounding, and it's gotten significantly worse in the last couple of months.

It's hard to blame just the press, this fandom is just as guilty. The so called fans have spent years manufacturing expectations that have no basis in either precedence or common sense. People have always wanted William and Catherine to their perfect dancing monkeys.

Where did William being abusive towards Catherine come from?? The squad always say this🙄

There are a few groups of royal watchers that believe William has a terrible temper and that Kate is a battered wife.

Their evidence is, in my opinion, shaky:

A few stories over the years that the Waleses fight and argue (like every normal couple...)

Kate’s submissive/deferential behavior when she’s around William (as the protocol expects of a consort…)

Kate shrugging off William’s hand in the Mary Berry Christmas baking special (because PDA isn’t workplace appropriate…)

William wearing his anger on his face in certain events, like after the nude pics were published - he had a face like thunder (as wouldn’t anyone be when their privacy was egregiously violated…)

William yelling at the one pap that he caught recording the family (as would anyone do when a strange person is recording minor/underaged children…)

William’s obsession with privacy means dirty skeletons in his closet (but it’s okay for Meghan to keep her children private…)

The way Louis acted towards Kate at the jubilee parade/pageant - misbehaving, putting his hand in her face, taunting her, not listening - is learned behavior from William (and not, you know, typical 4 year old behavior…)

Kate’s unexpected absences and pulling out of events last-minute “for the children” are coverups (because kids never get sick and nannies never deserve time off…)

The dog bowl incident with Harry

Allegations about William’s temper has been around for a little while before Meghan came into the scene but they really picked up steam once she started dripping info/rumors and Sussex Squad picked them up and made them a bit more mainstream on social media.

Something to remember about Meghan is that she’s big into projecting and deflecting. A lot of the rumors we’ve heard about William, particularly regarding his temper and hotheadedness, don’t fully match up to what we see of him/his character in public…but does match up to what we know of Harry:

As a child, Harry held pets too tightly and had to be told off by Charles and Diana to let them go

Harry engaged in classic bullying behavior while at school (he describes this in Spare)

Harry rides his polo ponies so hard they’ve bled, and one died shortly after being ridden by Harry

He shot a polo ball at a gaggle of press photographers

His temper/frustrations have been witnessed publicly - telling off Meghan, telling off reporters, fighting with paparazzi

Harry calls his anger “seeing red” and he writes frequently/often of it in Spare

In these cases it is a classic Meghan move to hide or debase these stories about Harry/herself by creating, and spreading, identical rumors about William and Kate, many of which are so random they come up out of the blue. There’s been a few of these over the years.

The caveat to all this is that yes, we don’t know everything about William so yes, it’s entirely possible that he does have a hot temper and he could take it out behind closed doors. But I don’t think it’s likely: after 30+ years being in the public eye constantly followed by press and cameras and 20+ years with his wife, it absolutely would’ve come out already/by now if he had a dangerous, physical temper. This isn’t a matter of the Crown protecting him and sacrificing Harry instead. This alleged version of William truly does not exist. I guarantee you, if there was even a sniff of a hint that William was anything less than Prince Charming, the rabid press of the 90s and 00s would’ve been all over it.

But is she putting in as much effort as she used to? I’ve never seen so many illfitted trousers on her as I’ve seen the past few weeks (today and the beige ones are the worst). And wearing Burberry today was a weird choice given the content of the engagements, considering their clothes isn’t even made in the UK. Her team would’ve been much more on top of that in the past. I think she wants to portray a certain look but whether she likes it or not what she wears is important too.

But I will say, William is worse. He shows up in wrinkly clothes almost every day, and he seems to have forgotten where his ties are most days. Receiving guests in Windsor Castle not even wearing an business suit was a real low point for him. The media and royal watchers just forget the men and don’t have the same kind of expectations on them.

I don’t know if you’ve seen their staff but some of them dress so bad even on official engagements, like I’ll never forget one of their engagements during the coronation week when one of their staff showed up in cargo pants. I think their office in general became too casual during the pandemic and they haven’t regained what they had before that (the pandemic overall was really detrimental to their office, I think they lost too many staff members at the same time so there’s too many newish ones there, see how awful their social media has been the past few years (the last few weeks have been much better though)).

Umm... what?? Sorry anon but I do not agree with much of this.

Catherine has worn a wrinkly outfit probably one time that I can remember in recent years. It was Wimbledon and when I saw it on tv, you couldn't even tell. Even if I haven't liked an outfit, every single outfit she has practically EVER worn has been completely appropriate. Yes she's had a few wardrobe snafus here and there but as one of the most photographed women in the world under an intense microscope, she is of course going to have a few of those.

What she wears is important, you're right. Which is why she is always beautifully turned out with well-fitting clothes appropriate for the occasion. She looks completely professional. There's nothing "not princess-like" about wearing trousers, unless we're still stuck in the 1950s. I think what it is is people got used to her dresses and when she's been changing it up, people don't know what to do with themselves... lol. She goes out and does these engagements in nice clothes and then when it comes to the big royal events, she wears very "princessy" clothes and tiaras and jewels. She's been at this for 12 years, she is going to go through lots of different clothing eras. She's experimenting, she's trying a new look, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I am incredibly confused how somehow putting on a dress = effort but putting on a three piece suit does not... there is nothing ill-fitting about this look at all to me 🤷🏼‍♀️ And one quick google search tells me that Burberry is made in multiple locations including the UK.

I also... don't care what their aids or staff are wearing lol. And I don't think their social media is awful, either. In fact, I think it's been pretty great these past few months.

my fave argument is they asking what Amalia has actually done to deserve an honour, as if William (since they’re W fans) did anything to deserve the garter except being grandson of the one who decides and that it was cool that he’d be the 1000th knight

like get a grip, they’re given for diplomatic purposes and/or gifts and nothing else. I don’t mind new royal watchers, but when they just act so ignorant about things just because their fave isn’t part of it…. just be quiet

it's funny af to me like 1. most of them probably didn't know this order existed until 2 seconds ago 2. this is not the most important order in Spain so William (and most likely Amalia) will receive the most important one when they are monarchs 3. last I checked you didn't have to work at an embassy or resolve wars to receive foreign orders, you literally show up to a state visit and if you give one back to the host country you get one.......blame it on Liz for being stingy with hers so the BRF wouldn't get them back.

I’m kinda bored by the Sussexes. I used to get some entertainment out of them because they really surprised me time and time again how out of touch, delusional and entitled they are. But now nothing they do surprises me anymore.

Harry making his fathers CANCER all about himself didn’t even surprise me. Snarking on H&M used to be atleast fun but now it’s just sad and frankly uncomfortable. In the beginning you had leaks and that kind of stuff giving insight behind the palace doors but now it’s just watching two middle aged and out of touché people whose only job is emotionally terrorising the royal family.

I’m not even a monarchist, I’m a staunch republican (I’m not British but I am European who has a king as a HoS). I just liked Kate but it’s not like I like the whole institution. But it’s making me sympathise with William having to grow up with a mother who was paranoid and used him as an emotional crutch and a father who kept throwing his own kids under the bus for publicity stunts and was not present during a large part of their life. Like shit, he grew up as one of the most privileged men on the planet and yet I sympathise with him because he seems to have turned out normal and decent despite the odds being stacked against him. I just need to look at Harry, andrew and even Charles for the way William could have turned out.

But I’m a royal watcher for Kate and only Kate. I was in elementary school when she and William married and I remember coming from school and watching the wedding. So I have always liked her.

Yeah that is why I have taken some breaks from here and royal watching.

I still skim articles and take mental notes but Harry and Meghan have become obsolete in so many ways.

I have been a royal watcher for over 20 years now but I really focused on them after Catherine had George. Even stopped work to turn on the TV to watch them on the Lindo Wing steps.

So I kept track of Harry due to royal articles. I think what really attracted me to the Harry & Meghan mess was the massive amounts of articles they were producing on a daily basis. I had never seen anything like it before and all of a sudden we were getting private details of a family the previously was extremely silent on their daily lives.

I do feel badly for William. Harry has turned Diana into a Saint and has made it seem as if she only had one son and it was Harry who was there for her emotionally. He has completely written William off as being Diana's son. William sees a lot of Diana's issues in Harry and I think that it why he was so concerned for so long but you can only care for so long before you have to give up for your own mental well being.

He really can't believe that people just don't like him and his wife. I heard my mother talking to a friend and she was like "They did the doco, the podcast and now this? I mean, they can't keep doing this, it's getting very boring" and later on, she said she thought Harry needed proper help. She's not been brainwashed or paid by the palace (I wish!) to say these things to a friend, it is how she feels from what she's seen!

I have been an AVID royal watcher since William and Catherine were dating. I was a HUGE Harry fan. When he started dating Meghan I thought it was the most amazing news EVER for the monarchy. The Cambridge + Sussex "Fab Four" was the most insanely perfect wonderful thing I could have hoped for.

And Harry and Meghan have simply let me down. They've done everything wrong both together and individually. They're mean. They're vindictive. They're manipulative. They lie, cheat, and steal.

They're just not nice people.

He so deserve that and more. I cant wait for the divorce simply because he need to suffer for every freaking thing that hurts his brother and catherine.

Hopefully we will get divorce annoucement soon. My money on harkles separation announcement on same day as earthshot award. That will be nutmeg big FU to William & Catherine.

William and Catherine are grown adults. Are people able to understand that simple fact? Must everything be about "Oh noes, how will Will & Kate survive _____?"

There are people in the world who are suffering ACTUAL terrible things these days. Actual terrible things. War. Rape. Starvation. Bodily impairment. Homelessness. Et cetera.

Will & Kate are dealing with a crazy sister-in-law filing pr missives routinely in the press. They know what her bullshit is. As many famous celebrities have said about tabloid coverage before, "It only hurts when it's true." So, seeing as Meg's pr bullshit isn't true, there isn't much of a reason to get worked up over it continually.

I would think that royal watchers would have that last part figured out by now.

Kate is neither the King nor the Queen Consort. Why is there an expectation to solve "more things happening" around the UK?

When Charles was still POW and Camilla was essentially PsOW there were no such expectations. It is the same job/office so to speak, so the job description has not changed. Yet the new holder of the job is expected to do and be so much more.

Why is that?

Charles and Camilla are King and Queen themselves have said they will take care of meeting the people who are helping British citizens during this difficult economic time.

I will not develop more here because I have to keep my energy.

Only one thing the journalists try to make understand to William and Catherine to make plans like this (like Charles, it's very good) but to see people now in need is even better. I understand and agree that the first 5 years are the most important in a human's life. But currently, Catherine and William could create initiatives like eating well even during the economic crisis, we know that meat and fish are overpriced but it is important to keep a healthy life and balance and eat variety here is how we can help you . They could do that until September 2023 and September 2023 launch the early childhood program.

I think ordinary people would appreciate, the BRF is not there to please the royal watchers but the ordinary person

You'd think that Jacintha Saldanha would be enough to shut the mouths of anyone going around claiming that there are no problems with the royal family and the media attention it attracts.

But nope, Jacintha Saldanha died almost ten years ago, dumb-ass royal watchers will pretend she never existed (unless they want to claim that Kate was the real victim in the incident), and people will never think about how her death was a direct consequence of the press harassment and exploitation that William and Catherine now directly benefit from.

I lost all respect to Anne as today she allowed Andrew to lead Windsors to the church while grinning like cheshire cat. She was just behind him. I can’t erase that picture from my head.

I am sorry. It’s why I only keep my focus on William and Catherine. Who knows maybe they will let me down one day too, but for now I am still here.

As a longtime royal watcher (decades and decades), it is gratifying to see people understand the Charleses and Camillas and Annes as they always were: self-centered, arrogant, narcissistic. Anne's comes across differently than Charles' does. Charles is male and heir, so his is far more blatant. But Anne as also only ever been about Anne. She was far more protective of and real with her mother than Charles ever was, but she is just as petulant as Charles is. I never liked her and have kept second-guessing myself as so many others seemed to hold her in high esteem. Just like I fell for Camilla's act a little bit (which is a LOT for me :) ), I thought from time to time that maybe I was wrong about Anne. But time always tells. They were assholes back in the day and they are assholes today.

Good Lord, pray that WK don't disappoint! That would slay. I don't even want to consider the possibility. Let's just keep our focus on them and if we are proven wrong about them, we can just take it when it comes and become Swifties or something.

I hope they don’t disappoint either. I have never cared for celeb culture so I might have to pick up a real hobby like underwater basket weaving.

Big wedding tomorrow! I just took a peek at royal confessions and Rajwa is apparently the new favorite married in royal. Makes a lot of sense. She’s new, foreign (to me) and we don’t know anything about her. There aren’t any scandals, she’s in the 20, early 30s age group, college graduate, comes from wealth, an equestrian, great fashion and will eventually be queen. No one knows her opinion on things and I’m guessing from the region/family the narrative will be tight. There may be new trips, a cause she supports, kiddos to look forward to etc. it’s all so new!

I know this page is new and I came into to royal watching fandom around lockdown. The blogs I mainly follow are geared towards the BRF. A lot of those ladies and gents?have been a watcher long before William and Catherine and some like me started up with Megxit or even just as they (MM) joined the firm. Quarantine solidified it all and brought in more people with the drama (even just loosely), the Harkles relentlessly throwing “shade” to say the least back at the firm and the press playing into it all. I think allot of new watchers might flock to Jordan watching especially if they do more public appearances despite the language barrier. It’s new royal escapism. I read on another blog that a new wedding seems to do that for a royal house. Like a big reset and all the royal ladies will wear tiaras…. Yeah gonna bring a lot of attention.

I wished a read Arabic, in general I’d like to learn. & so I could also read what’s going on over there. I’m in the states.

About Rajwa apparently yeees she's the new favorite married in royal. She's somehow special, I mean her personality she's so extrovert and friendly!

And we got to see royal ladies in tiaras I liked that ( I was thrilled specially to see Iman and Salma with tiaras!)

The wedding was a royal escapism and a beautiful fairytale! I think the coverage on Hussein and Rajwa in the future may sometimes be translated in English! I encourage you to learn Arabic it's not that difficult trust me !

Also, I won’t provide links to where these rumors came from as I do not wish to send any abuse towards those bloggers/forums/social media accounts, but:

Most of the rumors that are very specific and detailed, particularly those involving specific dates, tend to come from tarot readers, astrology blogs, and gossip vlogs from YouTube.

Ones that sound wildly far-fetched and over-the-top (or tinhatty) tend to come from very vocal “anti” or “hater” royal watchers on all sides.
