Slow and Steady, Will Eskridge
With each deliberate step, there is a purpose. Slowness is a means to think before you speak. To assess the situation before you act. You don’t have to be swift to survive. Shyness is a defense. Yet, wallflowers bloom just as beautiful as tulips. Slow and steady, like the sloth.

Nurture of the Beast, Will Eskridge
"Nurture of the Beast" is one from my series "Environmental Habits". The series puts animals in modernized environments with square shaped obstacles. The expressive, impressionistic depiction of the animals represent the vigor and tenacity of nature. The animals are juxtaposed with the crisp-edges and high texture of the shapes which represent the organized chaos of an over-industrialized world. Overall the series provokes questions about the relationship between these two forces.

Birth Ritual, Will Eskridge
It Runs In the Family is a continuation of my minimalist silhouette work themed around wildlife animals. This work examines the vigor of nature through bold colors and expressive drips which is balanced with the stark, flat black of the background panel. Doing so individualizes the animal as a martyr for their species and their represents their survival in the modern world. Using a bandsaw, I hand-cut the silhouette from FSC certified wood. It is then mounted to a small block to allow a floating affect off of the main panel. Painted with spray paint and latex acrylic. Signed and wired for hanging.

To the Moon and Back, Will Eskridge
There are secrets to other animals that we, as humans, can not comprehend. These mysteries are not unlike those of the universe. The more that is explored, the more secrets are revealed to be decrypted. Layers cover layers that cover more layers. Science and technology can crack parts of the code and unveil some of the nuances of the unfathomable, but it is only the universe as a whole that understands. We can speculate with scientific knowledge, but no one knows exactly what an animal is thinking, except for the animal. In my work, the multi-colored drips are layered on top of each other to create visual and actual texture evoking the mysteries behind the animal kingdom. The pyramid shape beckons the beginning of humans' understanding of the world. All of these secrets are surrounded by more mysteries of the universe covered by the solid matte, waiting to be discovered.

Thicker Than Water, Will Eskridge
I have long been fascinated by the idiosyncrasies and behavior of animals. Deep Blue Limulus - Limited Edition 1 of 1, Will Eskridge
The Deep Blue Waves series celebrates the stunning and often misunderstood creatures of the sea. With this series, I harness the power of the sun to create large cyanotype solargrams of sea creatures. Using only plant life from my backyard, I arrange leaves, twigs and vines to resemble various sea creatures. This piece is a cyanotype photogram on Stonehenge watercolor paper mounted on a handmade cradled wood panel. A thin layer of renaissance wax is applied for protection. Signed, wired and ready to hang!

Tireless Traveler, Will Eskridge
"Tireless Traveler" is a piece from my "Prairie and River series. Taken from E.C. Babbitt's folk tale, "The Otters and the Wolf" this series focuses on otters and wolves as the subject matter. The tale is a short study in trust and sharing. I thought this relevant to my overall theme of animals' attempt at survival in a technologically advanced world.
