I completely agree with the Cad situation. I actually wanted him to just leave with his family because at this point the things he has done for the nein far outweigh what they’ve done for him. This shit just pisses me off. Also, while he was having a literal panic attack when the statues were destroyed (deservedly so) the rest of the nein treated it like a joke until Beau was paralyzed. Like, sorry Cad’s literal family isn’t a priority right now.
not to continue to be salty on main but like. I can count SO many times where the nein would’ve been if not outright fucked, but in a real tight spot if it weren’t for cad and his clutch moves, and out of game, the cast appreciate tal and his moves, but in-game? they say jack shit to caduceus.
tbh i was. really hoping that maybe caduceus was feeling conflicted about staying with the nein or going with his family, and maybe he would do the impossible and actually open up to the nein and ask their advice and we would finally get a moment where the nein could be like “but we love you a lot!!! we don’t want you to go, cad, we’d rather you stay with us at least a while longer, but we understand if you don’t want to”. but alas. it’s not meant to be.
i MEAN. I wouldn’t go so far as them treating the statues being pulverized as a joke, considering the first time it happened, a serious hush fell over them and they were not looking happy, and they were clearly stressed the fuck out. I wouldn’t hold them making jokes against them during combat bc like, they were cracking jokes even during the fights against the laughing hand, it’s just what you do when you’re stressed. but role-playing-wise, it just ended up that it felt like the only ones who were treating this fight the emotionally-fraught moment it was, was Caduceus and Caleb. (ngl, my standards are so fucking low at this point, and my appreciation for Caleb shot through the roof, seeing Liam’s rp choices during that combat. Mentioning that he noticed that Caduceus recognized some of the statues, trying to cast slow, was going to try and prevent the gorgon from running one down before Matt was like ‘actually im gonna do this’, positioning himself in such a way that he was kind of separate from the statues, even seeming to place himself in such a way that he’d be a more appealing target, going for big spells like disintegrate and widogast’s web of fire, esp instead of his usual signature fireball, probably bc he didn’t want to risk accidentally blowing a statue up.)
anyway, im still. really confused about their rp choices post-combat. like. you have caduceus’ family with you. he’s been separated from them for years. you know they’re important to him. and the nein have mentioned time and time again that Caduceus is weird. Caduceus mentioned last episode that he was kind of a prankster. And no follow-up questions? no inquiries as to what he was like as a kid? zero curiosity, especially when faced with Calliope, and Colton, and Constance who seem pretty normal all things considered? Like, I understand wanting to give them their space but also like.... this was such a great opportunity for the Nein to learn more about Cad and they didn’t take it? Bruh, not even Fjord, who’s a paladin of the Wildmother now and should at least have SOME questions about what he’s supposed to do or how it works, didn’t want to ask them anything?? they just wanted to fuck around in a holy space that’s actually really important to their friend? ok
