The Rules of Dragon Age 2021 Holiday Exchange

Give a gift, get a gift!
Gifts must be Dragon Age related.
20+ people or more must sign up. There’s not enough people to match, otherwise.
Important note: I’m not going judge ships. However, I think everyone is aware something like Sera/Dorian would be very offensive to other fans. Be respectful! This is meant to be fun. Don’t hurt or offend anyone. Please keep the really controversial ships to yourself for this event. (Don’t yell at me. I don’t ship Sera/Dorian, either. It was the most extreme example I could think of.)
This year I’m running the event until the end of January to give everyone extra time. The Holiday season can be very busy and this gives everyone almost 2 months to create or find their perfect gift.
How will this work?
- Fill out this form.
- I’ll match people the best I can according to your favorites. Please keep in mind I can’t 100% guarantee you’ll be matched with someone who loves and hates everything you do. You may love Solas and hate Cullen. Your match could also love Solas but love Cullen as well. I’ll put everyone together with at least something you have in common. Keep in mind if you ship only rare pairs, this is more difficult.
- Give your gift to the recipient by posting it here or shipping it by land mail.
- When you receive a physical gift, post it to the Dragon Age Gift Exchange blog to share it with everyone!
- Remember to use the tag #lemons if it’s not for the eyes of young people or those who don’t want to see / read adult material.
There will be check ins. You’ll be warned here on Tumblr, Discord, and in email. Failure to check in will get you dropped from the program.
Will check ins take long?
Not at all. They’ll be simple 2 or 3 questions to make sure you’re still doing the event.
What if my recipient gets dropped?
You don’t have to send a gift if you don’t want to.
Can I pinch hit?
Yes please! I’ll be including a check box on the fill out form for those who are willing to help for creators who vanish. (Don’t feel pressured if you can’t or don’t have time.)
What kind of physical gifts are okay?
Paintings (the Bob Ross way with physical paint), markers, any other kind of physical art. Pottery, jewelry, knitting, candles, dolls, sculpture and anything else you can dream up!
Can I buy a gift and send it?
Yes you can!
What information is shared?
If you want a physical gift, you must share your address with the person creating your gift. I’ll also see it on the form, but I’ll forget it in 2 seconds. You don’t have to worry about me turning into a dragon and peeping in your windows.
I’ll also share your favorite characters/ships.
What about NOTPs and characters I hate?
Creators are going to look at what you love. If there’s a pairing which really bothers you, feel free to share it in “Other” and I’ll pass it along to your Santa.
Santas/Creators – please don’t take ships for granted. Your recipient may love the characters but not necessarily ship them. This includes canon ships.

This is a new thing I am trying where I scan a few pages of a sketchbook and explain it, expand upon it. A lot my praxis in designing delivery pipelines is in illustration but up to now I have never shared this aspect of how I solve problems! So it is exciting to show this: the first ever post showing how I draw out my problem spaces!!!!
These are the two root level nodes that exist when a new strategy is to be contemplated:
Daily Cadence
Daily cadence is entirely overlooked by management analysts. Only since Dekker and co. Began focusing on sharp end event situational awareness has daily cadence become of interest to risk managers.
What Does It Mean To Be Sufficiently In Sync With Master?
Some thoughts on what "in sync with master" could mean in terms of build semantics.
C.A.T.: Continuous Automated Testing!
This represents @stanks' observation that answering the question of what CI does or what does Jenkins deliver in terms of value and ROI can be answered by saying "continuous automated testing " and then leading the querent down the semantic tree that descends from asking why "continuous automated testing " would be important.
Also it is abbreviated as C.A.T. so as a tentacular devops your value add can be TLA communicated as CAT.
CAT is a token with intrinsic positive internet whuffie
This is deeply useful in terms of naming tentacular devops things which is the hardest problem in tentacular devops computer science!

Some new ideas here. Do see though @bigballofmud paper "The Selfish Class" which makes the association between Dawkins "selfish meme" and memes as atomic components of the semantics of software systems. Or "software architecture" if you prefer.

Ohuhu alcohol markers on XPressit Blending card. Background is cheap acrylic paint because I didn’t want to waste marker ink on something which was for me and practice.
Loved how this came out in my growing practice with alcohol markers on my art journey.

For Cullen Week!
Prompt: Scars
I tried to convey Cullen’s inner scars in the form of nightmares. I used a stock photo for reference and loved the deep shadows. This is watercolor and Prisma colors. Please be kind. This is literally the first time I’ve done a human being in these mediums and the 2nd time to ever use them at all. (The first one was a portrait of a dog.)

This is a colored version of a piece I did in October for Cozy Autumn Prompts. I wanted to try it in color and it fit Cullen Week too well not to change it up a little.

A little about this one...
Don’t color with alcohol makers over Micron pens unless you’re careful and test it first. Mine smeared everywhere.
I wanted to try something different and took a stab at Disney style. I have even more respect for Disney and people who pull off the style now. (Also Anime.) They can make these huge eyed people look like adults. I feel like mine looks a bit like a creepy kid... But anyway, out of 3 projects this was my least favorite. 2 more to follow which I loved. Hopefully a 4th before the week is over!

Prompt: Howling Winds
One of the Brecilian Forest werewolves celebrates cooler weather with a howl - or maybe he’s challenging the wind itself.
DA werewolves have a very distinctive head shape I don’t feel like I really captured here. Their noses are just plain odd and they have a very angular / toothy look that got lost trying to change the expression to a howl.
On the other hand, I’m really pleased with how my blending is coming along. I’m starting to learn more about alcohol markers. Done with a combination of Spectrum Noir, Ohuhu and Copic markers. Traditional.
This is my final entry and I’d like to thank Cozy Autumn for these prompts and doing this. It’s been really fun!

I can finally share these. We’ve been playing Werewolf: the Apocalypse 2nd Ed. for years. Around Halloween it’s become tradition to have a special session or group of sessions. The entire game is horror themed and you play monsters so it’s not a huge change. Because this is 2020, it was a player’s birthday, and there’s so much stress and things going on, I did something different this year. Instead of the usual serious arc, I made use of a somewhat obscure place in the Umbra - the TV Realm.
The pack found themselves flung into an old style Warner Brothers and Merry Melodies cartoon world. I drew all their characters for them so they could have a visual of how they looked now. The Bone Gnawer has a running joke about how she has layers upon layers of clothes. The “Pack Mom” changed her tribe to White Howler. With 5 years of real time play behind them, they’re gradually trying to bring the Tribe back.
Top left is the NPC Get of Fenris. Center was born Silver Fang but before her Rite of Passage decided she was better off as a Glasswalker. Bottom right is a Silent Strider theurge interacting with a spirit.
.... and I’m new to alcohol markers. These were also done quickly, so don’t be too hard on my art.

Goes with @aurianavaloria ‘s fanfic The Red Lion
where Cullen is turned into a werelion. It’s a great read and it inspired me to do some art.
The larger version shows better detail.
No critiques, please. I have a long, long way to go as I’m learning Photoshop. This is only the 2nd time I’ve painted anything digitally with PS. I know there’s a lot of mistakes and room for growth. Part of the reason I did this was to learn the keyboard shortcuts. Mission accomplished. I now can space, tab, z, alt, and alt click as second nature.
Transformation Cullen’s scar had a reference used by @fontofnothing because I couldn’t zoom into the scar anywhere near as well. Photo references used for the lion. My screenshot used for Cullen’s profile. Inspiration from memory emerged from Elfquest (Cutter’s sideburns) and Teenwolf (all the pointy teeth and fluffy eyebrows.)
