today i saw a post about how people using replacement words for died like ‘unalived’ or whatever is swagless which i agree with but also i feel like adding that even like in normal people lexicon its fucking stupid. like why would you say someone ‘passed away’ if they died in a crash or of an illness or something like it only makes sense if you die of natural causes peacefully and even then it still feels kind of weird and like minimise-y. why would you say someone coded to mean they went into cardiac arrest IF YOURE NOT IN WORK i understand that the replacements are neccessary in an actual er for speed and stuff but outside of that context it makes it seem almost in-jokey like haha i work in an er and you dont so you dont know what i am talking about. why would you say someone is no longer with us especially if its to a smaller child which it normally is like the kid isnt gonna fucking understand that that means they’re dead they’ll keep holding out hope that theyll come back it seems almost cruel. there is no scenario when saying someone died is inappropriate they;re fucking dead everyone dies even children deserve to know that someone is dead straight up you dont have to skirt around it its so annoying
#i wont even touch on how disrespectful online replacements for the word suicide are cause stuff like the actual post just irritates me but#stuff like that makes me gen angry#originals#they dont really have words like that irl tho thankfully except for maybe 'took their own life'#oh people use that in reference to murders too which is also disrespectful as fuck#like oh this guy shot you through the chest and left you to bleed to death but he didnt murder you teehee he Took Your Life#like its like theyre trying to sound. almost cool about it idk i cant put my head-description for it for some reason#anyway i dont think there is any reason to not be able to say at least the basics of how someone died without skirting around it#OH wait before i go i just remembered that earlier i saw someone say that you shouldnt be allowed to grieve th elderly#someone was like yeah some kids had to watch live-in grandparents die of covid in front of them thats sort of traumatising#and they were like Well they were gonna die anyway it's not like they were their parents.#which like first of all thats absolutely heartless. secondly are you unfamiliar with the concept of legal guardians#third even if theyre not their legal guardians how did you think the kids parents came into existence ??#so even if the kids somehow dont care that their grandparents are dead the parents will be devastated and that will also reflect onto the#actual kids like you just cant be around someone thats mourning all the time and not also be upset even if you dont care about the actual#death#which like i wouldnt call that traumatising neccessarily but the kid would come out worse
