#ohhh my god i thought i was angy at lmenburg before#when i was thinking about parallels to colonialism + the whole ham.lton thing#but. bring the opium war parallels. and suddenly i am vividly furious all over again#i know it grows past that. i know it becomes something more#something worth mourning when it inevitably fell#something not better or worse but different at least#but dear FUCKING lord do i seethe at the way it rose to begin with#it makes for a damn good story and narrative and i love that#but i dont love the way it's... looked at. i don't love the deliberate erasure of the other side.#hm.#general thoughts
