The Kidnapping of Patty Hearst
The kidnapping of Patty Heart by the Symbionese Liberation Army was dubbed a classic case of Stockholm Syndrome - but was it? Tony McMahon reports.
There were plenty of weird events in the 1970s but the kidnapping of Patty Hearst has to be one of the strangest. On February 4, 1974, a terrorist group calling itself the Symbionese Liberation Army (SLA) kidnapped Hearst from her apartment in Berkeley, California. The terrorists thought they’d hit the jackpot. Because Patty was the granddaughter of the American media magnate William Randolph…

I wanted to make a little fic about it, but I know im not going to so I will instead share this little thought that just occurred to me
How quiet is the underground? How long would it take Frisk notice? Right away? Probably not, they could probably still hear the rush of air and birds above them after falling into the mountain. And then there were others almost consistently throughout the ruins, and Toriel moving around and baking in her house.
Maybe in Snowdin Forest? A long, mostly desolate stretch of trees, without a single sound to reassure them. No birdsong, no rustling in the underbrush, no wind whistling through the trees.
Or in Waterfall. Rushing water the solitary soundtrack in the dimly lit caverns, broken up only by the occasional voices of passing monsters or drips of condensation mimicking rain.
Probably not Hotland, full of loud machinery, brighter, it might feel too alive to really notice.
Maybe they'd get all the way to New Home, and only then, on that long, quiet walk, would they notice exactly what had been bothering them in the back of their head for the whole journey. The unnatural absence of life.

When you recognize that Mann’s whole schtick is just like, Chicago/LA Alexanderplatz for octogenarian American hippies, everything really comes together.
