Also while I am here -- my main problem with people being fucking nasty to Tumblr staff is that I don't want to see excessive vitriol. It's why I don't follow many discourse blogs, it's why I try to avoid engaging in discourse myself. Even things I agree with are not worth defending through vitriol to me.

You're free to talk about however you want on this site to anyone you like. But I am free to move to the other room and not be around you because I am tired of listening to you.

#van stuff #And for the most part -- vitriol is not a thing people tag #my only option really is to just... unfollow and block people #who persistently put messages that amount to 'fuck yourself' in my feed #no matter who they're aimed at #because in my experience if you're willing to say that shit to your enemies #it's only a matter of making a reason for me to be an enemy before you do it at me too #Like #we recognise this as bad #when people do it in a targeted way #we recognise marinading in aggressive rhetoric as bad for you #when it's reactionaries doing it #but for some reason people struggle to realise that certain patterns of behaviour and action are bad for you #EVEN WHEN YOU'RE DOING THEM FOR THE RIGHT REASONS #exercising your god-given right to be a fucking dickhead to randos is a bad pattern of behaviour #please find more productive ways to deal with your anger #I'm not saying you're dong something 'objectively wrong'#I'm just saying I do not like the thing you're doing #and I want no part in it
