just thinking more about the Ascendent Lord being an ex-adventurer and that being the basis for his character, and the man literally could have been Lady Arabelle’s counterpart.

The character who sees his past decisions and beliefs as mistakes vs the woman who still believes in her ideals and principles. Both being right and wrong, and the Vestige being somewhere between them, having to decide how they feel about their own actions and choices and figuring out how to distinguish themself from both of them.

I think, narratively, it woulda been cool if Dovewing used her powers to check in on ShadowClan so often that it felt like a second home to her. Like, throughout OOTS, she could always have been seeing what was going on whenever she was stuck at camp bored. Stressed about the prophecy and her strained friendship with her sister, she visits other clans with her powers as a way to escape for a little while and finds great comfort in it. So, when she loses her powers, she realizes ShadowClan feels more like home to her than ThunderClan. With no prophecy to fulfill or role she's been forced into tethering her to ThunderClan, she just wants to be surrounded by that comfort again. Which is why she ultimately switches clans! 

There could even be a novella where she's settling into life in a new clan! She struggles at first because she realizes that she's a stranger to this clan. They don't know her the way she knows them. It takes a while for most of them to warm up to her, and she must gain their trust. She considers going home, where at least she'd be surrounded by family and cats who know her, but ultimately she stays and eventually earns her place in the clan, finally getting to live in the comfort she had always escaped to
