me: i think that crucial lyric 'everyone's convinced it's a government drone or an alien spaceship - either way we're not alone' is so melancholy and bittersweet there's something about it that really gets to me it's my favourite part of the whole song and makes me honest to god emotional it's the part i belt when im home alone because i just think it's such a telling of humanity, you know? like 'at least we're together' type thing-

me: like the first instance of civilisation was a healed femur type of thing because one thing about us that we need to love, need to be together, like when people played music from their windows during lockdown. yes something terrible is happening it's either a government drone or an alien spaceship, two incredibly disturbing thoughts, but either way we're not alone. that's the thing that gets focused on, and it shouldn't be comforting because it's an objectively lesser thought compared to such a large threat but it just is comforting it's so comforting in an almost delusional 'we're all gonna die' way and-
