I think one of the things that hurts most about Darien and Isla in Summerset is just how much it parallels Valsirenn and Leythen.

Thought You Died (achievement unlocked)

Involved with daedric princes and afraid of losing the other (again) in all this daedric madness

A lot has changed between us in these last few years but we still care for each other and want to make this work

Coming to terms with all the shit we didn’t talk about before we were separated and finally meeting in the middle

Sacrificing yourself to save the world

And leaving behind the other who already mourned you once before

Like, Valsirenn absolutely understands exactly how Isla is feeling after returning to Artaeum after defeating Nocturnal. But while Valsirenn is capable of understanding that they all need to put aside their emotions and their grief until things are slightly more stabilized, Isla is still so young and emotional and literally watched her brand new husband die AGAIN in front of her.

She’s mad, upset, frustrated, borderline hysterical, and has never felt more alone in this world because she’s in an unfamiliar place and only a handful of people even know what happened. She thinks Valsirenn is cold and heartless for being able to keep working after learning her husband is truly gone this time, and refuses to be comforted by the one person probably most capable of understanding.
