Sigyn had been trying her best to stay calm as she stood tall in Vanaheim’s throne room. Today was the day tensions between her realm and Asgard would end, and it was also the day she would see her betrothed for the first time in years. Once upon a time, before tensions rose and minute battles started, she and the princes of Asgard had been playmates in their childhood due to their mothers friendship. However, she and Loki had always been much closer than she had been with Thor.
As a young goddess, she had even sent several letters to both Loki and Thor, but never heard anything back. However, she knew now it was highly likely that they’d had never even received them. Hell, Loki probably didn’t even remember her, especially since the last she heard he’d gone off and had children. She did however feel sorry for the mother, as this situation was likely breaking her heard if they were still together. Her lady’s in waiting never seemed to give her the same story twice, so she was unsure of the details.
Her thoughts were shaken however as the guards announced the arrival of the Asgardian Family before opening the doors. The goddess curtsied politely and stood with a smile on her face, ready to play the role of the diplomat as her mother suggested. Yet, she was stunned as her eyes met green and the emotions of her girlhood crush came flooding back. This was going to be a difficult meeting indeed.

I SPEND MY NIGHT DANCING WITH MY OWN SHADOW ( v : pre-mcu ).
eldest daughter of the queen of vanaheim , sigyn was raised to place her duties as future queen before her own interest. passed from tutor to tutor , lesson to lesson , she learned everything she needed to know to be queen. even so , sigyn found time to bury her head in books on places far away , to roam the garden for hours on end , & to practice magic with a certain dark-haired prince. but as time went on , sigyn must learn she cannot skirt her duties any longer when her mother arranges sigyn to be married to the nobleman & crimson hawk theoric.
( verse is set prior to the marvel cinematic universe & continues through to right before thor. sigyn is the daughter of freya , queen of vanaheim. at one point , she is engaged to theoric , a crimson hawk working for odin. this engagement lass a while given that asgardians & vanir age & have different relationship with time than humans. when theoric is killed during a mission , loki steps in & requests sigyn’s hand in marriage. the two are married before the all-father ——— although not without a few mishaps along the way. being married to the god of mischief & lies is never an easy life , but sigyn’s not sure she would want it any other way. ).

after her husband’s death on svartalfheim , sigyn has followed her brother-in-law’s lead & returned to migard in an attempt to mourn her husband without trying to navigate the politics of the realms. she moves into a small apartment in london , takes up a job as a barista , plants a garden , & frequents museums. on occasion , she has run-ins with the avengers , most notably during avengers: age of ultron , but for the most part , she keeps to herself & tries to enjoy life without a crown on her head.
( verse is set during the rest of the events of phase two , including captain america: winter soldier , guardians of the galaxy , & avengers: age of ultron. sigyn is living on migard under the name GRACE VANCE. ).
