If you watched the first season of Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out! then you’ll know exactly what to expect in the second season. The awkward situations between Uzaki and Sakurai ramp up, only escalating the idea that the pair are already a couple. Tsuki’s mind continues to run wild with scenarios for Sakurai, making for plenty of entertainment. The rest of the Uzaki family comes into the fold, bringing their own craziness. Oh, and Shinichi has parents!
While Uzaki can be easy to criticize due to the Hana’s proportions, they are hard not to notice, the show itself is genuinely entertaining. Hana purposefully gets on Shinichi’s nerves because it’s fun, but it’s all the different ways that plays out that shows how good of friends they are. They do plenty of things together, enjoy each other’s company (generally), and provide plenty of humor to those around them watching the spectacle. The romance that builds this season kinda suits them, at moments to weird extremes, but typically balanced out with the awkwardness each of them hold at their core. And, hey, it helps that the pair don’t really objectify each other, it’s more that others cause that problem *glares at Ami*.
Recommended? Yes, if you’re in the mood for a friendship with plenty of antics running amok. You’ll have to go back to the original season to understand what is happening, but if you find yourself entertained by all the madness Hana introduces to Shinichi’s life then it’s worth the ride. Their quirky friendship, and all the people around them that feed into the chaos, make for a good show that’s memorable for just how annoying one girl can be.
