Upton House parkrun for a change this morning, I believe their 200th event. First for a fortnight, back been okay-ish for second half of week & felt I needed to give it a go. Was a little tight on the short gentle warm up, but a good stretch helped. Took it easy, & given the undulating nature of the course happy with the time, even managed a little up hill sprint finish. A great way to start the month. Not sure about mid week runs until I know how my back is in a couple of days, but hopefully I’ll be okay. If not this week then next I’m going to find time to get in the pool & do a few lengths see how I feel & see if I can incorporate it weekly. Thinking over a dry month, not been drinking much recently, but might help drop a little timber. Might just cut back on the choco-snacks. I was doing really well over the summer, but falling back in to old habits now there is a chill in the air. At rugby tomorrow so won’t we watching the London marathon tomorrow. Last Saturday was my first bit of parkrun tourism for 2019. We were visiting Stuart’s parents who live near to Bournemouth, so we had several options. We’ve run at Brockenhurst, Bournemouth and Poole parkruns, but hadn’t tried Moors Valley or Upton House parkrun. I thought that we should save Moors Valley for another day as it’s nearer to where we live.

Three #parkrun on the bounce is a bit of a rarity for me. With #pooleparkrun cancelled for the week, I made the short trip to #uptonhouseparkrun it reminded me why I started making Upton my favourite a couple of years ago. An undulating course, compared to Poole, but so enjoyable. Always seem no pressure to run fast, Ito a definitely a get out & run for the love of it course. That said I can’t help & be competitive with myself, so happy with sub 35 mins. It was very warm, struggled in the last mile, luckily bumped in to Ray & we chatted & came home together. Now off to eat waffles & ice cream for middle child’s birthday treat & then football take centre stage this evening. With Bournemouth 10 cancelled tomorrow I made the effort to get up for parkrun this morning. Upton house for a change rather than Poole Park. Bumped in to a few familiar & friendly faces as to be expected. Special thanks to @icanrunthis for the encouragement about half way & allowing me to sit on the shoulder for a while as I struggled to keep the pace. Slow start as always as a little narrow, tough middle mile, but pushed the last one. Not enough to go sub 30, but it is hard course & fairly close so happy with that. Busy day ahead, kids parties, shopping etc.! Trail shoes are still not the most comfortable, but need to couple more runs in them before larmer in a couple of weeks, last year I broke at nine miles, this year planning to be smiling at the finish. Consecutive #parkrun for the first time in ages (about 18months). Quicker than last week & felt much easier. HR peaked at over 200 for the first time in a while, but did have a cup of green tea with breakfast for a change. Weather was great too, the sun came out! nice to finally bump in to Ray from #runhappydorset with time for a chat. Looking forward to spring training. Still no spring marathon, however thinking about concentrating on half’s & weight-loss. Seriously considering throwing in a sprint tri in the mix too. I’ll have FFC Bournemouth as well, only a couple of games but I’ll until I have dates. I don’t want to commit to marathon training. Going to be attempting to complete RED January, pack came this morning. I’ve managed a couple of streaks in the past, a July one, & a February one. January could be a though ask.
