जनता दल (युनाइटेड) में आंतरिक संकट बुधवार को मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार और पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता उपेंद्र कुशवाहा द्वारा एक-दूसरे पर निशाना साधने के बाद गहराने के संकेत मिले, कुछ दिनों बाद कुशवाहा ने आरोप लगाया था कि पार्टी कमजोर हो गई है और कई भीतर के नेता भाजपा के संपर्क में थे।
पटना में एक समारोह से इतर मुख्यमंत्री कुमार ने कहा, 'जो बोलते रहते हैं, वही बोलते हैं. . . बीजेपी में जाओ जो जितनी जल्दी जाना चाहता है, उतना ही कहता रहता है। '

महागठबंधन, जद (यू), राजद और कांग्रेस द्वारा वामपंथी समर्थन के साथ बनाए गए गठबंधन ने कहा कि उन्होंने किसी को जाने से नहीं रोका था, और नेता अपनी मर्जी से 'आ और जा सकते हैं'। 'हमारी पार्टी कमजोर नहीं हुई है। ये झूठे आरोप हैं, लोगों को जो कुछ कहना है कहने दो। पार्टी पहले से ज्यादा मजबूत हुई है।
सदस्यता पहले की तुलना में 45 लाख से बढ़कर 75 लाख हो गई है।
इससे पहले, मुख्यमंत्री कुमार ने कहा था कि कुशवाहा का पार्टी से 'आने और जाने' का इतिहास रहा है, और वह अपनी मर्जी से निर्णय लेने के लिए स्वतंत्र थे। कुशवाहा, वर्तमान में पार्टी के संसदीय बोर्ड के अध्यक्ष और एक एमएलसी ने 2021 में अपनी राष्ट्रीय लोक समता पार्टी (आरएलएसपी) का जद (यू) में विलय कर दिया था।
