i was about to post "if you think about it, Quantum Leap was asking "is it gay if it's with a technically genderless person?" even before Neilman" but like honestly it's not even the same because Quantum Leap fully comes out on the side of yes, it's still gay, but it's 1989 and gay people aren't real yet so don't even worry about it
