favorite rwrb quotes or moments???
this is such an unfair question because i love all of rwrb so much. so i’ll just name a few, i guess? whatever i think of first:
the first part of the first chapter. “rule #1: don’t get caught” is SO underrated because it really does set up alex’s character and the setting in moments AND connect to the story itself and is overall a masterful and underappreciated beginning
the turkeys. and the late night phone calls.
henry kissing alex in the garden at new year’s and then running off
“he’s your match, dumbass”??? nora being all like, “duh”???
all of their emails. i mean all of them. but especially the “history, huh” and “your body comes back to me in dreams” and the whole waterloo vase bit and the map bit in alex’s last email and “have i told you lately that you’re brave” and both of their comparisons of love to fairytales.
alex flying to london to tell henry he loves him, yelling at his window in the middle of the night, and calling him an asshole. see: “what do you want?” “i want you.” “then fucking have me.” and “when have i ever, since the first time i touched you, pretended to be anything less than in love with you?” because i go feral for those lines
“a thousand percent” and “two homes side by side” and “i feel forever about him” and “america: he is my choice” and “love is indomitable” and “i’ll never love anyone like i love you” and the WHOLE “it would set me on fire” part and i could go on forever, i really could
the whole raphael luna subplot was excellently written. the kind of satisfying plot twist you were so close to seeing coming, and yet.
when they’re at the palace meeting with the queen and they throw open the curtain and there’s a whole crowd just cheering for them...people everywhere in support of them...”never tell me the odds”...getting to love each other in plain sight...
literally all the little details. liam and spencer at election night. the hints at june/nora/pez. the white house trio dynamic. all the backstories and character depth.
i could basically sit here and quote the whole book if i kept going. i just love all of it.
