It is a quiet and warm summer night, especially with the campfire crackling in front of them.  Snufkin sits a bit away from it so that the smoke will not bother him.  In his paws, he holds a small tin cup of green tea, and a kettle rests off to the side in the event that either him or his current companion would like some more.

It is the kind of night that he does not mind sharing with somebody else.

The two of them have slipped into a comfortable silence, and it almost feels wrong to break it.  Giving her a soft smile, he speaks quietly, so as not to disrupt the night too much.  “You seem more at ease than you were when we sat down.  What are you thinking about?”  Of course, she is free to not answer if she does not want to, to let the silence overtake them once more.

i’ve officially made kaede’s pokemon au a real thing on this blog! to go into more detail on the verse:

kaede is a pokemon coordinator, training her team to perform in pokemon contests rather than battles. as such, her pokemon are more focused on being stylish and cute than they are on being a team meant for battle. she can battle if she really needs to, but she's not the best at it.

her partner pokemon is a primarina she received when it was still a popplio. all of her pokemon see usage in contests pretty frequently, but primarina is her favorite one to partner up with.

the only times she really tries to battle is when she sees the members of team despair causing trouble, as even if she isn’t really keen on using her pokemon for battles, she refuses to stand idly by if there’s even a remote possibility she can help.

           “NYEEEEEEEEEH!” --- Panic, fear, & pain shot through Himiko’s body, “S-Stop it! Y-Y-You’re hurting me...!” There were fun kinds of pain & then there were bad kinds; This was the really, really, REALLY BAD KIND. Cuz this was the type that hurt both on the inside & on the outside. Heart had suddenly seized up within her chest. Breathing...Was she breathing? Oh Handsome Atua...She prayed that he’d remind her how to breathe...She’d forgot again... “Nnnnn....Yeeeeeh...” Oh no... The tears were welling & slipping free against her will. There were few things she HATED MORE than crying in front of other people. (She cried a lot when she was alone...) “Y-You c-can’t m-make me stay!” STUTTERY SOBS --- “D-Don’t m-make me use my magic...I don’t w-wanna hurt you...”

          Body went stiff & the mage’s struggling ceased. All she could do was stare up at the nurse with wide, watery & confused, crimsons. Besides her mom, no one had EVER said those words to her. Panicked yelps, formed from being surprised and manhandled so suddenly, quickly turned into girlish squeals as Hina’s hands began roaming up and down her torso. Every time fingers brushed along her ribcage, it elicited a stronger reaction. Toko struggling that much harder to escape as her most sensitive and ticklish region was exploited. But escaping was easier said than done when most of Hina’s body weight laid right over her waist, pressing Toko into the mattress and leaving her little wriggle room. 

“N-N-No-o-o!! S-Stop-!” Toko tried to beg over gasps and giggles, her face turning red at the stimulation. Biting her lip hard to quell some of her laughter, hands tried to grab onto Hina’s wrists, halting the torture for just a moment but there was no contest as to who the stronger of the two was. Yet...maybe some mercy would be given? If just for a short while..

Well.

This is a new development.

As close as she and Asahina are, Sakura had never expected her to actually end up in her lap. Snuggled against her.

She’s never been put in such a situation before. Her heart races in her chest, though the only show of her inward feelings is a surprised expression on her face.

It’s a surprise just how touch-starved she really is.

She hadn’t even noticed until now.

And yet, with the swimmer huddled against her like this, it surprisingly doesn’t feel... wrong. In fact, it’s warm. It’s... comforting.

//it was ok!  i did have to go into work, but afterwards, i got some sushi and a dollar scratch off ticket.  didn’t win anything on the scratch off ticket.  then i came home and slept for a couple hours.  didn’t get as much writing done as i wanted (F @ the onceler’s blog 😔) but that’s fine.  i might try to make up for it tomorrow, but i’m not fussed about it.

now i am probably about to go to bed again lol

i don’t sleep well during the week, living by running an IV drip of coffee right into my bloodstream, so i make up for the lost sleep on the weekend usually.

//honestly, not many, and mostly with the same people, haha!

i have two with @bystcrdust (maggie & ekko) and two with @bornchaos (brit & mamie).  @spiriitum​ and i have just started on the jack frost/snufkin ship, but it may be too early to count that one.

bornchaos and i were supposed to have 3, as we were talking about shipping ekko with their oc as well, but he and cora kind of fell through somewhere during the plot, which is actually fine!  i love the angst and drama of “failed” ships.

then i have cindy & timmy who i ship together lol...  i don’t ship often, but when i do, it’s with myself! ;D  i will reference cindy & timmy’s relationship quite a bit in threads, but i’m always willing to have them be platonic if someone else wants to ship with them instead.

i actually ship cindy a lot easier than i ship timmy, though.  cindy is a lot more receptive to it.  timmy doesn’t have enough softness to spend on anyone other than cindy, which is why i have his sexuality listed as “demi” and his shipping availability listed as “plotting only.”

Kaede knew Momiji always thought so much more highly of her, which she honestly didn’t like: especially if Momiji felt she wasn’t even worthy of celebrating her birthday together with Kaede. That’s why she made sure to make it clear right from the get go that she wasn’t trying to hear any of that: that Momiji also deserves to celebrate her birthday with her sister, and that she deserves a nice one...

“Thank you, Momiji~!” She beams, happy and relieved that Momiji seemed to love her presents... and when she shows Kaede that cute little card- “!” She gives a delighted gasp. “Aww, you made this for me? It is cute, Momo! I love the little cupcake, heheh.” She giggles, excitedly taking a look at it. “I love it so much! Especially because you made it. Imma put it on my shelf, so I can always look at it and smile: my precious sister’s the best, I love you!” She chimes, pulling Momiji into a big hug. “Thank you so much! You made today even better, and I hope I was able to do the same for you~!”

A beat of silence followed that declaration, Miles refusing to turn and look at her as he struggled to collect his thoughts. Normally, that wasn’t so difficult for him, his occupation required him to keep a level head under intense conditions but.... This place. Whatever it was, it forced him to think out of the box and make sense out of fiction. 

Except it wasn’t fiction and he wasn’t asleep. He’d pinch himself to find out but his instincts never tricked him. This was real. Right?

And this.... creature, whatever she was, whatever purpose she served, was the first being that paid any sort of mind to him that wasn’t outright confusion or arrogance. But it was hard not to get irritated. He just wanted a straight answer and.. maybe he blew it. Maybe he went about it the wrong way. 

Miles sighed, weariness dragging his shoulders down.

“Yeah.... Okay, I’ll give you that,” The journalist admitted, finally turning to face her. “I don’t know. And I’m....well, I’m sorry. Alright? Listen, I-I just want some sort of answer. An explanation.... whatever. Where am I s’pposed to go and.... how’d I end up here in the first place?”
