She does! As often as she can. She’s always had a solid relationship with her family back home, so she generally misses them very much and is in constant contact. Reggie tends to go back mostly on holidays, but there are definitely trips in between as well.

Bailey was more nervous then she cared to admit. Standing around a room full of veterans who were working on the reintegration process was definitely nerve wracking. Nevertheless she was determined to help.

She had poked around ahead of the doors opening to kind of get a lay of the land. Taking in things like the counseling resources and job fair. Still she sat at her table ready to help. She was there to explore alternative therapeutic techniques like working with music and dance to help relax the mind and body.

While it wasn’t your traditional approach she had seem some great progress with a few of the people she worked with.

A particular Vet came her way and mentioned his biggest concern was finding a job on the path back to civilian life and Bailey knew just the place to take him. The job fair.

So as they approached the handsome man at the job fair table she put on her best smile. “Hello. My name is Bailey and this is my new friend Keith. He’s looking for resources on finding a job.”

Dear Ki, Are your people able to breath fresh or ocean water,..what about processed water used in towns or cities?

This question was so interesting that I had to think about it for a while, so I apologize for the late response.

A fish can typically only live in one or the other- saltwater or fresh water. The bodies of saltwater fish are highly concentrated of salt solution. If they were to be placed in a freshwater stream, their cells accumulate with water through osmosis. The fish will essentially bloat and die. Freshwater fish on the other hand can’t survive in the ocean because it is too salty. The opposite occurs where the water inside their bodies flows out of the cells and they die of dehydration. However, there are fish that have adapted to live in both environments like salmon and trout for example. They are known as euryhaline fish. These fish seem to have a preference about which environment they live in. For example, sockeye salmon remain in freshwater for one or two years before they migrate downstream to mate in saltwater environments. For more information, you can read about it here.

Because nautolans are able to live on-land without any issues, I am going to assume they have a skin-like organ rather than scales, which can help protect them from dehydration in salt water or bloating in freshwater. Ultimately, I am going to say nautolans are an euryhaline species and can survive in any type of water. I would assume there are nautolans who are born in freshwater and others who are born in saltwater, so they probably have a preference for which water they reside in. In conclusion, nautolans can survive submerged under both types of water, but they have a preference for which environment they choose to live in.

Ki Vez is a coastal nautolan, which means she is more akin to saltwater environments. I don’t think she would be able to stay submerged too long under processed water and prefers to hold her breath in that scenario.
