Naughty and Nice
Pairing: Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel
Prompt(s):  “Please tell me you aren’t searching my room for where I’ve hidden the presents” and “You look like this ginger bread man” and “You made gingerbread zombies?”
Warnings: suggestive stuff
A/N: Thanks to whoever requested these prompts! Love a bit of dumb fluff, especially when it’s with these boys. Fin is a little shit but what else is new, huh?
Word Count: 1518
*
Tyler smiled as he put the finishing touches on what was practically an army of gingerbread men he'd spent the morning baking. Setting the tube of icing down at last, he admired his handiwork, smile soon slipping into a grimace at the mess he'd managed to create. Yeah, baking clearly wasn't his strong suit. He'd tried though, and that was what counted.
Several limbs had broken off and out of curiosity Tyler picked one up and popped it in his mouth. And maybe they didn't look great but they sure tasted amazing. He couldn't wait to see what Fin thought. After all, it was mostly for him that he'd bothered making them.
Thinking of Fin, where was he? Tyler couldn't help wondering. He hadn't seen him since breakfast and the peace and quiet that came with a lack of his presence was starting to get disconcerting.
Licking icing off his fingers, Tyler left the kitchen and went to look for his strangely elusive boyfriend. He wasn't in the living room or his bedroom but there were clear signs everywhere that he was around, where though?
A thud and a muffled curse had Tyler's head whipping in the direction of his bedroom door which had been left slightly ajar. He walked towards it and pushed gently, taking in the scene before him in increments as the door slowly swung open. It took a moment to process what he was seeing and locate Fin amidst the chaos inside. Apparently he’d decided that with Tyler busy, it was the perfect time to go snooping for his Christmas presents. An exasperated sigh slipped out as Tyler leaned in the doorway and watched for a few moments.
"Please tell me you aren't searching my room for where I've hidden the presents." Fin looked up at him, stared for a moment, before letting his eyes wander around the mess he'd created, clearly stalling and trying to figure out an excuse. He looked back to Tyler again who was waiting patiently with a raised brow.
"No," he said slowly but simply, not offering any explanation for what he was doing. It was such an obvious lie but the audacity of it forced a chuckle out of Tyler.
"So what are you doing then?" He asked, playing along.
"None of your business." Fin went back to his searching.
"Fin!"
"What?" He looked back over his shoulder briefly but didn't stop going through Tyler's things.
"Get out!" Fin paused, looked at him, and considered.
"What's in it for me?"
"I'll let you have a gingerbread man?" He was on his feet in an instant. The recipe Tyler had got ahold of was an old family one that Fin had fallen in love with last year and had been looking forward to trying again since Tyler had mentioned it. There was no way he was going to pass that up after Tyler had told him he wasn't allowed any until everyone else arrived that evening.
“I want two.”
“Fine. But you’re clearing this mess up too.”
“You need to sweeten the deal a bit for that.” Rolling his eyes, Tyler took a couple of steps into the room and pulled Fin towards him, capturing his lips as the boy was caught off-guard. It was the easiest and most effective way of getting Fin to agree and be quiet. Coincidentally, it was also Tyler’s favourite way.
"That sweet enough for you?" He asked after pulling away.
"Yep." He popped the p, grinning smugly.
"Come on then." Taking his hand, Tyler tugged Fin from the room and down the hall to the kitchen.
The smell of Christmas spice permeated the air and Fin breathed it in greedily, mouth practically watering. He frowned, however, when he saw the source of it.
“You made gingerbread zombies?” He shot Tyler a questioning look, unsure if the strangely shaped cookies were deliberate or if Tyler was just terrible at baking. A light blush adorned the boy's cheeks and he smiled sheepishly.
“It wasn’t exactly intentional.”
“So you just suck at baking then?” He nodded. “Wow. We’ve finally found something you can’t do.”
“At least I didn’t burn them.”
“That is something at least. Let’s hope they don’t taste as bad as they look.” He popped a broken-off arm into his mouth and immediately had to eat his words. They might look a mess but maker, they tasted divine.
“They’re good right?” Tyler asked, smile turning self-satisfied now. Fin nodded, mouth full and unable to do anything but moan softly at the taste. “Want to take back your insults now?” Fin shook his head and swallowed.
“I both love and hate you right now, you smug bastard."
"Yeah, that sounds about right." He chuckled fondly before gesturing to the tray of still-warm treats. "Go ahead and pick your gingerbread men."
Fin looked back down at the cooling rack, inspecting its offering and deciding which to choose. Finally he found one that looked a little more human than the rest. Not by much though. It was still the most attractive of the men on offer however and Tyler had given it yellow icing hair which gave Fin the perfect opportunity to tease. He picked it up and showed it to his boyfriend.
"You look like this gingerbread man."
"I let you have cookies and this is what I get?" Tyler huffed in mock offence.
"I'm kidding. You know you're the hottest piece of ass I've ever laid eyes on," Fin reassured with a wink. Tyler rolled his eyes, brushing off the compliment, only the pink tinge staining his cheeks giving away the effect it had on him. There wasn't a more lovely sight in the universe than that to Fin's mind. Tyler did his best to keep up appearances though, he didn't appreciate the way Fin could make him so flustered sometimes.
"You can't just compliment me and expect me to forgive you for that insult. Especially when you made such a mess in my room too."
"If you're looking for an apology for that, don't expect to get one anytime soon."
"Why not? I think I deserve one."
"I've already agreed to clean it up. Is that not enough?" Tyler thought for a moment, a sly smile slipping onto his face.
"No. I don't think it is actually." Fin caught on easily.
"Well then. I'll just have to make it up to you somehow."
"And how do you propose to do that?"
"I've got a few ideas." They both knew exactly what he meant and didn't bother to waste further time talking. Fin dropped his cookie back onto the rack, though not before taking a quick bite and being momentarily distracted by the taste, leaving Tyler to close the distance between them instead. He connected their lips when Fin finished his mouthful and the boy kissed back enthusiastically, causing Tyler to grin against him.
"You definitely taste better than those cookies," Fin breathed after a moment. Tyler chuckled and framed Fin's face with his hands, pressing his lips against his boyfriend’s again to make him shut up. Fin wasn't complaining.
Remembering he was meant to be making things up to Tyler, he deepened the kiss and took control - something he'd been surprised Tyler allowed him to do the first time but had soon realised was what he needed. His hands slid down Tyler's toned torso and gripped his hips, pushing firmly until Tyler gave in and allowed himself to be shoved backwards into the kitchen counter and pinned there by Fin's hips.
After a minute or two of heated making out, Tyler finally dragged his mouth away to suck in a deep lungful of air, leaving Fin free to kiss down his throat. As his body flooded with oxygen once more his mind cleared and he realised that maybe this wasn't something best suited to the messy kitchen. His suspicion was confirmed when he rested a hand on the counter and managed to put it straight into a load of icing.
"Fin, if you want to continue this, we need to go somewhere else." Fin pulled his mouth away from Tyler's neck and frowned at him.
"Why?" Tyler held up his sticky, sugar coated hand and wiggled it in front of him. An evil smile formed as an idea hit him and he wiped the icing over Fin's face. The other boy stood frozen in shock for a moment before a grin split his face.
"I hope you're planning to clean that up."
"I might. If you make it up to me like you promised."
"I can do that," Fin said with a grin, taking Tyler's hand and pulling him from the kitchen. He paused in the doorway and doubled back to steal a cookie, laughing at the exasperation on Tyler's face when he returned to him.
"Really?"
"What? They're tasty."
"Sometimes I wonder why I put up with you."
"I think we both know why." He winked and dropped a quick but filthy kiss to Tyler's lips. "But I'll happily remind you." And when they finally made it to his bedroom, Fin really did.

Mistletoe Kisses
Pairing: Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel
Prompt(s):  “Are you- are you pulling down mistletoe?” and “Is that mistletoe?”
Warnings: none
A/N: Thanks to whoever requested these prompts! Tylian owns my ass tbh and the caught under the mistletoe trope also owns my ass so doing this was just the absolute ideal. I just need more of them being dorks together because everything is so sad in canon and I am going to treat these kids right even if it kills me.
Word Count: 798 (could have sworn this was longer tbh)
*
The plan was foolproof, if Fin did say so himself. All he had to do was catch Tyler under the mistletoe which shouldn't be too difficult given they spent so much time together and he'd been very thorough with his decorating.
It was Scarlett's idea really, putting up mistletoe and generally decorating for Christmas, Fin had simply been inspired. The routes Tyler usually took through the station and his usual hang out spots were covered in the plant now so all he had to do was wait. Seemed easy enough.
"You have got to be kidding me," Fin groaned as he watched yet another girl kissing Tyler. That was the seventh time today and it was barely past lunch.
"Don't get grumpy," Auri said from beside him. "You'll get your turn." Fin grumbled something unintelligible in response and Auri rolled her eyes before leaving him to his moping.
As the day wore on, Fin's mood only worsened. Half the legion seemed to have caught on to the fact that there was mistletoe everywhere Tyler went and many had decided to make good use of the opportunity. Of course, Fin was always close by too, trying to seize his own opportunity, and had to witness every kiss Tyler shared with someone else. It was torture. His only consolation was that Tyler didn't seem particularly into any of them so he kept persisting. Even if every attempt was foiled somehow.
It was late in the evening when he finally gave up and started removing the copious amount of plant he'd hung up. The halls were near silent as he cleaned up, occasionally grumbling to himself. So caught up in his grumpiness, he didn't notice the person walking down the hall and very nearly screamed when a voice spoke behind him.
"Is that mistletoe?" It was Tyler.
"Yep."
"Are you- are you pulling down mistletoe?"
"Yep again."
"Why?"
"Plan didn't work." Tyler was silent for a minute as Fin went back to fiddling with the mistletoe. He'd had more than enough kisses for one day, with people he had no interest in kissing no less, but maybe one more wouldn't hurt. Not with someone he actually wanted to be caught with.
"I don't know if there was someone in particular you were hoping to kiss, but we are under mistletoe right now," he pointed out. Fin froze, his focus shifting back down to Tyler as the boy leaned in and kissed him briefly. It wasn't enough for either of them but Tyler didn't linger, flashing a still-frozen Fin a quick grin before leaving.
It took several long moments for Fin to process that brief, gentle touch. Lighting shot through his brain and down his spine, short-circuited his nervous system, and left him a shocked, stuttering mess. Was this a dream? No, he thought. If this was a dream, Tyler wouldn't be walking away right now. Wait. Tyler was walking away. Fin didn't know very much right now, but he knew he didn't want Tyler to be walking away. Finally he found his voice.
"What!?" He yelled. "Tyler! Get back here!" He didn't. But he did stop walking.
Fin clenched his fist around the mistletoe he'd been taking down and ran down the hall to catch up with Tyler, nearly slamming straight into his chest in his haste.
"What the hell was that?" He asked, annoyingly breathless.
"A kiss," Tyler replied easily. "Had to obey tradition."
"Do it again." Tyler's lips quirked in a teasing half-smile at the demand.
"There's no mistletoe." In answer, Fin lifted his hand over their heads and opened it enough to see the half-crushed plant within.
"Now there is," he said with half his usual sass back. Tyler grinned in response and snaked a hand round Fin's waist, pulling him flush against his body. Fin might have stopped breathing when he caught the look in Tyler's eye. He didn't have time to get hung up on it though as Tyler's lips landed on his a moment later.
He kissed him properly this time. Fin was not ready for it.
Only a couple of seconds passed before Fin abandoned holding up the mistletoe in favour of burying a hand in Tyler's hair and clutching onto his collar to keep him from pulling away. The mistletoe might have been gone but Tyler wasn't done yet. He kissed Fin until he was breathless and then kept going afterwards. Fin was pretty sure he'd died and gone right to heaven.
"Merry Christmas," Tyler breathed when he finally broke the kiss.
"It's not Christmas yet." Tyler rolled his eyes. "But that was a very good gift." Tyler chuckled and kissed him again quickly.
"Looks like I'm in for a cheaper Christmas than I thought."
"Shut up." And with a kiss, he did.

Movie Night
Pairing: contains Tyler x Finian, Kal x Auri, and Scarlett x Cat x Zila
Request: @blossomtheterror asked “ Aurora rising - the squad has a LoTR marathon and Kal finally learns who Legolas is. ”
Warnings: a couple of bits of suggestive conversation, I think someone might swear? big-ass spider and mentions of fictional violence
A/N: Does what it says on the tin, the squad have a movie night. god i really loved writing this one and it gave me an excuse to rewatch lotr as well. it’s more of a general thing with just like a few moments of ship related content and I really need to do more of this casual found family bonding stuff because it’s great!
Word Count: 1944
*
"So you're telling me none of you have watched Lord of the Rings?" Auri was horrified.
"Tyler and I have," Scarlett offered. "I don't remember much of it though."
"This is unacceptable. We're watching them all tonight, I can't be around people who haven't seen them for another day."
"Technically tonight we're meant to…" Auri's hard look cut off whatever Tyler was going to say. "...We can reschedule I guess."
"Good. Kal and I will go find snacks and meet you in the common room at 5."
"So early?" Kal asked.
"We've got 9 hours of movie to get through so yes."
"Alright, see you guys in a couple of hours."
*
At exactly 5 the squad converged on the common room. Scarlett arrived early and managed to nab the big screen with the comfiest couches, quite possibly through a little persuasion if the awestruck look on the faces of a group of guys across the room was anything to go by. She grinned as everyone filed in and got comfortable, Cat coming to sit on one side of her and grumpily leaning her head on Scarlett’s shoulder.
Kal and Auri claimed the second couch, curling up together only slightly uncomfortably. It was still new to them and they weren’t sure how to navigate everything but they were cute. Everyone thought so. That left Tyler and Fin with the pile of pillows and blankets dumped on the floor in front of Scarlett’s couch. The boys pouted at Scarlett but she wouldn’t be swayed and eventually they flopped down onto the floor. Scarlett prodded her brother’s head with a foot and giggled when he swatted it away, grumbling under his breath.
The lights dimmed and sound blared, causing them all to wince as Zila frantically turned down the volume and offered a quick apology before crossing the space to curl up on the couch, half in Scarlett’s lap. She stole a blanket on her way over to the protests of the boys on the floor. Scarlett quickly silenced them both with light kicks and a glare when they turned around, her face softening when Zila finally settled against her and Cat curled in closer to fit under the blanket as well. Tyler rolled his eyes but didn’t complain further and settled down with Finian tucked under his arm.
With everyone finally settled comfortably, Zila pressed play and Auri shushed everyone loudly as the first whispers of Cate Blanchet’s ethereal voice started. She didn’t even follow her own command though and eagerly narrated and explained everything to Kal in excited whispers. No one really had it in them to complain though. That or they worried Kal might rip out their tongues if they said a word against her.
Kal barely even watched the film, far too entranced by Auri, the passion in her voice, the glint in her eyes. He got the gist of it from her rambling anyway. Auri pointed frantically after about an hour and a half and Kal finally forced his eyes away from her and towards the screen in time to see a tall man with long, blond hair and pointed ears appear.
“That’s Legolas!” She proclaimed gleefully and Kal had to admit after a while of watching him, he could see why Aurora had made a link between them.
“You never told us you were an actor, Kal,” Finian said in mock offence.
“I can’t believe I’ve kissed a celebrity!” Tyler pretended to swoon and Kal felt his ears redden at the reminder of that time in the server room.
“What!?” Everyone’s attention turned from the movie to the boys and Finian scowled at his boyfriend.
“You kissed Kal!?”
“Fin-” Tyler suddenly regretted dropping that on them all in that manner.
“And you didn’t invite me!? Maker, you think you know a guy...”
“Wait,” Scarlett piped up. “When did this happen?” She shoved him with her foot. “And why didn’t you tell me!?”
“On the Worldship. A tech was about to catch us in the server room and it was the first thing I could think of to stop our cover being blown.”
“I can assure you,” Kal looked between Auri and Fin to try and reassure them, “it meant nothing.”
Tyler gasped. “But baaabe,” he said, just managing to maintain a hurt pout through the bubble of laughter that threatened to escape him.
“So if I invited you-”
“Do not finish that question,” Tyler, Kal, and Auri all practically yelled in sync.
“Alright, fiiine. I guess I’ll just stick with Tyler.” Said boy pretended to look hurt but he knew better than to take what Fin said seriously. The devilish Batraskan grin aimed his way and the quick kiss he received only confirmed it.
“Okay, can you all shut up and watch the movie now?” Cat grumbled, the sound less threatening and quieter than normal with her face pressed into the crook of Scarlett’s neck. Still, they did as asked and focused back on the movie.
‘You have my sword. And my bow. And my axe.’
“And my freaky mind powers,” Auri continued with a grin
“And my wrench.”
“And my awesome pilot skills.”
“And my disruptor pistol,” Zila added, quite to the surprise of everyone.
“And my leadership skills.”
“And my powers of persuasion.”
“And his...well...him,” Auri said, gesturing to Kal. Everyone was starting to really get into the film and she was ecstatic. They all broke down laughing at their own ridiculousness and missed the Fellowship head off. Half an hour later there was yelling and popcorn was thrown at the screen.
“They did not just kill off Gandalf!” Cat exclaimed, royally pissed off and enjoying the film far more than she’d planned to. Maybe she was a bit more inclined to give the film a chance than usual since Scarlett seemed to be enjoying it so much. Scratch that, she was absolutely more inclined to give the film a chance because of that. Although, she knew she’d enjoy it anyway but it’s not like she could admit that to the others. Anyway she was not happy that the old wizard was gone now. Auri had to bite her tongue to avoid ruining anything for her and the others.
The film finally ended and everyone was mildly shocked. They had no idea Boromir was going to die. Auri and Fin were the only ones seemingly unaffected.
“You know, if I was trying to protect a bunch of Hobbits, I would simply not get shot in the chest three times. RIP to Boromir but I’m different.” Auri could barely contain her giggles as the rest of the squad scowled at Fin and Tyler shoved him gently. His death was too fresh for them it would seem.
“Alright get the next one on,” Cat demanded, unwilling to move and do it herself. Zila slipped off Scarlett’s lap instead and sorted out the next film. Disgust was voiced when Grima was introduced. Cheers erupted when Gandalf finally returned. And the squad discovered both the Jones twins had a knack for impersonating Gollum. Fin most definitely did not appreciate this particular talent, especially when, without warning, Tyler whispered an eerily accurate my precious directly in his ear. He nearly jumped out of his skin, fortunately managing to hold back a scream which at least slightly lessened his embarrassment.
“You’re going to pay for that golden boy.” He glared down at Tyler who was clutching his stomach while his body shook with laughter. Something disgustingly soft formed in Finian’s chest at the sight of Tyler so carefree and relaxed though.
“Worth it,” he wheezed. He managed to calm himself enough to grab Fin’s hand and tug him back down into his arms, still giggling softly into the older boy’s hair.
“You won’t be so pleased about that later,” Fin grumbled and Scarlett couldn’t help laughing.
“Looks like someone’s not getting any tonight. Bad luck baby brother.”
“Will you all shut up? I’m trying to watch sentient trees kick ass,” Cat complained.
“They’re called Ents,” Auri corrected absentmindedly but Cat just waved her hand dismissively.
By the end of The Two Towers Zila had fallen asleep in Scarlett’s arms and the rest of them were on the way to it. Auri crawled out of her comfortable spot curled into Kal’s side and put the last movie on.
Too tired now, the squad kept the comments to a minimum this time. Auri and - surprisingly - Cat shuddered when Gollum led the hobbits into Shelob’s lair and Cat actually hid her face in Scarlett’s shoulder. A comment about that was on the tip of several tongues but they all thought better of it. Cat would certainly kill them if they dared mention it.
Despite enjoying the film, probably more than everyone except Auri, Cat fell asleep soon after Sam escaped from the Orcs with Frodo and then Scarlett’s attention was no longer on the film. Technically she’d seen it anyway so it didn’t matter. She’d much rather enjoy the rare quiet contentment from a sleeping Cat and Zila than watch a movie. About 20 minutes later, she too fell asleep.
“Wait. There’s ghosts in this?” Kal questioned when Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolas met the army of the dead.
“Yep,” Auri said through a yawn. “It’s long and complicated but they’ll explain in a minute.”
“But ghosts…”
“Shut up Legolas,” she groaned lovingly. “Just wait. They’re very useful.” She fell asleep before their use could be revealed though and Kal cared more about gazing lovingly at her than the movie. No one made it to the end. Tyler and Kal got close but in the dark and the quiet even they couldn’t keep their eyes open any longer.
In the morning, groggy and awoken by other Legionnaires coming in, Auri insisted they rewatch the end. Tears were shed. Even Cat and Finian were caught crying silently by the Jones twins.
“So, did you like it?” Auri asked when the screen finally faded to black. They all did.
“It was very enjoyable,” Kal admitted. “I...can understand why you call me Legolas now.”
“Do I get to keep doing it?”
“I think you would with or without my permission,” Kal smirked as Auri conceded that she probably would. “But I do not mind the nickname.”
“Good.” She kissed his cheek before taking his hand and standing up. “Now take me to breakfast, Legolas.”
“I’m going to regret this, aren’t I?”
“Almost definitely.” And then she dragged him from the room. Zila and Cat tugged Scarlett up as well and followed them out.
“You want breakfast?” Tyler asked Fin who was still laying on him.
“Depends. Are you on the menu.” He said it around a yawn and there was little of his usual teasing in it. Tyler just laughed. He leaned in closer and whispered in Fin’s ear with his best gollum impersonation again.
“Anything for you, my precious.” Fin lept up with a screech and Tyler was losing it again.
“I told you not to do that again.”
“Your face,” Tyler wheezed. “It’s still worth it.”
“You’re sleeping on your own tonight,” Finian grumbled.
“Oh come on.” Tyler stood and wrapped his arm around his boyfriend as they both left to catch up with the rest of the squad. He pulled out the smeagol voice he was also rather proud of. “It’s just a bit of fun, precious.”
Finian jabbed an elbow into his side. “I should never have let Auri talk us into watching that. She’s created a monster.”
“Don’t be mad, precious.”
“No. No. No. No. No.” Finian squirmed out of Tyler’s grasp and ran, Tyler’s laughter following him all the way down the hall.

Christmas, Candy Canes, and Chaos
Pairing: Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel
Prompt: “Go to sleep, Santa isn’t real”
Warnings: Little bit of swearing
A/N: Thanks to whoever requested this prompt! Fin crossed with Christmas would be complete and utter chaos. Whoever requested this prompt just GETS IT, like it’s perfect for them. Also sorry, this was meant to be up 2 days ago but I just...completely forgot???...to upload anything for 2 days.
Word Count: 632 (again, I thought this was longer)
*
Tyler was starting to have some regrets about explaining Christmas to Fin. If he’d known it would interfere with his sleep this much, he never would have done it at all. So, that wasn’t entirely true, he had to admit. Celebrating Christmas on the Aurora station for the first time had made Fin so happy and in turn made Tyler happy too but dealing with Fin practically vibrating in bed beside him at five to midnight on Christmas Eve was going to drive him insane.
Honestly, Tyler wasn’t entirely sure whether Fin’s restless energy was coming from the promise of his first Christmas tomorrow or from the copious amounts of sugar he’d consumed throughout the day. That was another thing Tyler was regretting a bit. Introducing Fin to candy canes.
The Betraskan boy had gotten addicted almost immediately and for days Tyler had hardly seen him without the minty red and white treat in his mouth. And that was fine. It was nice Fin was enjoying another aspect of Christmas. But this one was bad for Tyler’s health for a couple of reasons. Firstly, Fin on a sugar high was the very definition of chaos, and second, he insisted on doing incredibly lewd things with his candy canes every time Tyler saw him. Things poor innocent bystanders did not need to be seeing or thinking about and things Tyler did not need to be imagining in public but found all too easy to. But Fin was utterly shameless and having far too much fun to be reasoned with. Tyler was half surprised he wasn’t sucking on a candy cane right then to be honest.
“So how does Santa bring us presents here?” Fin asked, the latest in a seemingly endless string of questions and chatter he’d been inflicting on his boyfriend for the past hour. Tyler gave the same response he’d been giving for the past 20 minutes - a loud exasperated groan.
“You said he comes down a chimney(?) on Earth but we don’t have one. And how does he cover every human in the galaxy? Are there multiple Santas? There must be because there’s no way he could get to all of you dirtchildren in one night. It’s impossible. Unless,” there was renewed excitement in Fin’s voice now and he frantically smacked Tyler’s shoulder. “What if he’s invented advanced tech for FTL travel!”
“Santa doesn’t have faster than light travel Fin.” Tyler rolled his eyes at the boy without even bothering to open them. He knew Fin knew it was all made up and was just spitballing stupid ideas and asking ridiculous questions for the sake of it but he just wanted him to shut up and sleep already. Normally he wouldn’t mind Fin in this mood for a while, insufferable as it was, Tyler loved nothing more than seeing Fin happy and excited about things, but he was too tired to be dealing with it right now.
“You don’t know that.” Fin poked him. “Do you think he’d tell me if I asked? I’m going to ask when he comes.”
“Fin,” Tyler sighed. “You know I love you and I’m glad you’re excited about Christmas but shut the fuck up and go to sleep. Santa isn’t real.” Fin gasped in mock horror.
“How dare you. Non-believers don’t get presents you know?”
“And overgrown children who don’t go to sleep on Christmas Eve don’t get any either.” He finally opened his eyes and levelled Fin with a hard look in the dark. The boy pouted but slumped in defeat.
“You’re such a buzzkill.” Tyler just grinned and dragged Fin into his arms, kissing him softly before closing his eyes and preparing to try and sleep again.
“Go to sleep Fin,” he whispered. And for once, Finian did as he was told.

Fine
Pairing: Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel
Warnings: none?
A/N: Fictober day 20, prompt “You could talk about it, you know?” I’m absolute trash for Tylian so here’s another fic. And I’m really loving Fin comforting Tyler for some reason so like that’s a thing.
Word Count: 1059
*
Tyler was staring off into space - literally and figuratively - when Finian wandered onto the control deck in the middle of the night. He’d been doing that a lot lately and Fin knew why but Tyler refused to talk about it with anyone. Still, Fin was going to do what he could to help. After all, he cared a little too much about his leader and always had.
“You’re officially relieved of duty, my dear,” he singsonged, trying to bring some light to the room. Tyler didn’t seem to notice.
“Hey, goldenboy, you hear me?” He wandered to the control panel and sat down next to his Alpha, spinning the chair so Tyler was looking at him. Well...looking through him. “Tyler,” he rested a hand on his cheek, patting lightly to try and bring him back from wherever his mind had gone. The boy blinked, his eyes slowly focusing on Fin’s face. “You there?”
“Sorry. Hi Fin, you okay?” He asked, ever the concerned leader.
“Me?” Fin asked incredulously. “I’m fine. You I’m not so sure about.”
“I’m fine. Really.”
“Yeah, and I’m the great Ultrasaur of Abraaxis IV.”
“Fin-”
“Look it’s okay if you’re not alright, just don’t lie to me.”
“Alright fine. I’m not okay. I lost my best friend a week ago and nearly lost the rest of you as well. Of course I’m not okay. Is that what you wanted?” There was so much in his voice after the nothingness Fin had walked into that he had a hard time processing it for a moment. Anger. Pain. Grief. Guilt. Despair. Finian wished he never had to feel any of it. He stayed quiet for a minute while Tyler calmed down and finally slumped back in his chair.
“You could talk about it, you know?” He finally said. Inside his mind was screaming at him to just leave it alone, he didn’t do stuff like this. Couldn’t stand the emotion and vulnerability of these things. But he pushed past it. Because he could tell Tyler needed someone right now and he actually wanted to help. It was all those damned dimples’ fault. They just had to go and make him fall in love and be a better person.
“I know,” Tyler sighed with a weak smile. “But not right now.”
“Okay. But you can come talk to me when you’re ready, y'know? If you want.”
“Thanks Fin.”
“Don’t mention it. Seriously. I don’t need people thinking I care.”
“Too late for that.”
“Damnit. You people are bad for my image.”
“Uh-huh, sure.” He was grinning now so Finian bit his tongue on a sarcastic retort. As long as Tyler was smiling, he didn’t mind the teasing.
“Go on, get out of here. It’s my watch now.”
“No, I’ll stay. Go back to bed.”
“Not to be insubordinate or anything,” Tyler chuckled at that, “but shut up and go to bed yourself.”
“You ordering me around now?” Tyler’s eyebrow raised and he had on that smirk that had girls swooning from 50ft. It tended to have a similar effect on Fin.
“It’s for your own good,” he said, summoning a grin. “...And it’s fun.”
“Thought so. I’m good though, you go, I’ll stay.”
“Not happening. You can stay if you like but I will spend the next three hours flirting with you. Choice is yours.”
“I think I can handle it.” And then he had the absolute audacity to wink and Fin’s stomach dropped. He hadn’t accounted for that. Still, he could handle it, he wasn’t going to let Tyler know how much he could affect him. Luckily Tyler was yawning and would probably fall asleep before he had to follow through on his promise of relentlessly flirting for three hours. He didn’t think he could manage that much.
“That sounds like a challenge.”
“Maybe it was.” Tyler yawned again and his smirk was corrupted by exhaustion.
“Tyler, go lay on the couch. You look like you’re gonna pass out.”
“I’m fine. Really.”
“Tyler…”
“Fine. Maker, you’re bossy when you’re concerned.” Aiming that sleepy grin Fin’s way again, Tyler stood and made his way to the couch.
“I’m not concerned…” Fin squawked indignantly.
“Uh-huh…” he grinned at him again. “It’s okay. It’s cute.” And Finian really had nothing to say to that. How could he? Tyler had just called him cute.
“I’m not- I’m not…”
“What is it?” Tyler smirked, reclining in a way that was doing...things to Finian. “You’re not normally this tongue-tied.”
“I’m not cute. Or concerned. And this is all your fault.”
“My fault, huh?”
“Yeah. Just shut up and sleep.”
“I thought I was supposed to get respect as an Alpha. You lot are the worst.”
“Sorry. Shut up and go to sleep, sir.” Something shifted on Tyler’s face then. Only for a split-second but Fin still saw it. Maker knows what it was though.
“Come here Fin,” Tyler sighed, sitting up again. And Finian didn’t mean to follow an order, he really didn’t, but he found himself walking over anyway. Tyler grabbed his hand and pulled him down onto the couch beside him. Before Finian could say anything, ask him what he wanted, Tyler’s mouth was on his.
He was surprised to realise he hadn’t given all that much thought to what kissing Tyler Jones would be like. It wasn’t surprising but it wasn’t what he expected either. The very notion that this moment might actually happen one day had seemed ludicrous and now that it actually was, Fin didn’t know what to do. The kiss was soft though so he just followed Tyler’s lead until the boy pulled away.
“Okay, so I was right about that.” He smiled lazily before resting his head on Finian’s shoulder. And just what was that all about.
“Right about what?” Fin asked though he was half-surprised he got the words out.
“You.”
“What about me?”
“You care. ...And you’re a good kisser.” What!?
“You thought about kissing me?”
“Yeah.”
“Oh.”
“Shut up, Fin.”
“Okay.” Tyler fell asleep on his shoulder seconds later. This is fine. Fin thought to himself, half-hysterically. Then, what the fuck? They were so going to have to talk about this in the morning. But for now, Tyler looked cute while he was sleeping so Fin let him stay there while he freaked out silently. Yeah, this was so not fine.

I’m With You
Pairing: Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel
Warnings: swearing
A/N: Fictober day 30, prompt “I’m with you, you know that.” More Tylian for y’all! I’m trash for this ship and I need you to join me.
Word Count: 1065
*
“What do we do now?” Tyler asked - mostly rhetorically since he knew no one had an answer - as he slumped down on a couch. This had been their last idea, well, their last sane idea, and it had failed. He’d failed. As expected, there was silence. The squad were all feeling just as hopeless and discouraged but none of them carried the same weight on their shoulders as Tyler. He had to lead them. Keep them safe and alive. Come up with the plans. And ultimately, the task of saving the whole damn galaxy was his responsibility. But he didn’t know how. He was lost.
“You’ll think of something.” Scarlett finally broke the silence, speaking quietly and laying a gentle comforting hand on her brother’s shoulder. “You always do.”
“Not this time, Scar. I’m all out of ideas.”
“Ty-”
“You can all go to bed,” he interrupted. “It’s been a long day. Get some sleep.” Everyone hesitated for a moment but ultimately decided to leave, sensing he needed some time. All except Finian. There was no way he was going to leave Tyler when he wasn’t okay. Especially not with the way he felt about him or given recent unexpected but very welcome changes in their relationship.
“Talk to me,” he said when the others had left, wandering over to sit down beside his Alpha.
“Fin, just go to bed like everyone else.”
“No. You need someone right now. Like it or not, you’re stuck with me until you’re okay.”
Tyler contemplated telling Fin to just fuck off and leave him alone but the boy was right. He did need someone whether he wanted to admit it or not. And Finian’s presence always had a weird way of making him feel calm and grounded. It didn’t make sense, not with Fin’s sarcastic personality, but Tyler was long past caring about the why. All that mattered was that it worked.
“I don’t know what to do,” he whispered. “I’m supposed to lead you all. I’m supposed to have the answers but I just don’t. I have no idea what I’m doing anymore.”
Never had Finian heard him sound so hopeless. He didn’t believe in himself anymore. He’d practically given up. And Fin couldn’t bear it. As long as he’d known Tyler Jones and even before they’d met Tyler had been such a certainty in his life. A rock and an inspiration. Now he just seemed lost and it was up to Finian to help him find the way. No pressure.
“You can’t know everything all the time. You’re only human.”
“That supposed to make me feel better?” he asked, raising an eyebrow and actually almost smiling.
“I wasn’t finished. You don’t have to do any of this alone. We’re all here to help you, it’s kind of our job.”
“I know that. But it’s all still my call and if I don’t know what I’m doing, if I mess up, I could lose one of you again.” He was still beating himself up for what happened to Cat and terrified of it happening again. Finian didn’t think he’d ever forgive himself for letting her get hurt even though there was nothing he could have done.
“It’s a risk, I know, but it’s one we’re all willing to take. It’s what we signed up for.”
“None of us signed up for this, Fin.”
“Maybe not at the Academy, no. But we all chose to follow you, we signed up for whatever and wherever you lead us. No matter the danger.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t have.”
“Maybe, maybe not. It doesn’t matter. We made the choice and none of us are backing out, especially not me.”
“Fin-”
“Tyler, I’m with you, you know that right? I don’t care what happens. I don’t care how dangerous it gets. I’m with you, whatever happens. And I know the others feel the same.” He rested his hand firmly on Tyler’s shoulder and spoke with an air of command in his voice. “So stop worrying and let’s do what needs to be done.”
After a long moment of staring into Fin’s eyes, seeing all the surety and trust he had in him, Tyler finally nodded. He did have one more idea on what to do next but it was stupid and dangerous. He’d refused to consider it before but with Fin’s confidence spreading to him where they touched, he reconsidered. It was a risk but it was all he had. He trusted the team and they trusted him. Maybe just maybe it could work. He explained it to Fin.
“It’s insane, I know. If you or anyone thinks we can’t do it then we won’t but-”
“Tyler, we can do it. I’m in and they’ll all say the same.”
“Are you sure? We could all die. And die quite painfully at that.”
“Yes. I already told you: I’m with you, no matter what.” He smiled and Tyler managed to smile back. Maker knows how he’d done it, but Finian really had made him feel better. There was still lingering doubt after everything that had happened but Fin still believed in him. The whole squad still believed in him. As long as he had that, he could face whatever the galaxy threw at them next.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it golden boy. I’m always here if you need a shoulder to cry on or anything more-”
“I’m gonna stop you there. I have a feeling I don’t want to know where that sentence was going.”
“Probably not,” Fin admitted with a grin. “Though you didn’t seem to mind last week when we-”
“I am begging you to stop.”
“I’m just saying. You know where to find me if you need anything.” He winked and stood, enjoying the slight flush on Tyler’s cheeks. He turned and walked towards the door, making it almost all the way there before Tyler spoke again.
“I’ll come by when Scarlett takes over watch.” Fin’s smile turned smug but he didn’t turn back and let Tyler see it, only paused in the doorway long enough to reply.
“I’ll see you later then.” And he left. Leaving Tyler alone with his thoughts. Thoughts which weren’t so hopeless anymore thanks to his favourite pain-in-the-ass gearhead. With Finian’s unshakeable faith in him, he finally felt like they might have a shot after all. He was going to make sure that faith wasn’t misplaced.

Take Care
Pairing: Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel
Warnings: Mentions of injury
A/N: Fictober day 15, prompt “That’s what I’m talking about!” Idek why I haven’t written anything for my favourite ship until now but now I have! I’m sorry it’s such a short one to start with, the prompt was gonna be used for something else but I was sad and sick when I got around to writing it and needed something more like this even though it didn’t work particularly well with the prompt. There’ll be more Tylian fic coming though, hopefully soon, so it’s not all bad news. (tbh this is just handy for getting a feel for their dynamic before I do much else)
Word Count: 627

Finian was a stubborn, obstinate, pain in the ass. He was an amazing genius too and Tyler loved him but maker, that boy was infuriating. And he was clearly not okay, despite insisting otherwise.
“Will you just take a break already?” Tyler asked as he watched Fin tinkering with something in the control systems. Hours he’d been at it now and Tyler knew it was purely to give him something to do. He’d barely rested since Octavia and refused to acknowledge why but Tyler knew. Guilt. He couldn’t do anything when the infected chimp had attacked him and they’d lost Cat because she’d helped trying to save him. No one else blamed him but he blamed himself. Just like they all did.
“No. I need to do this.” He did not. “It won’t take long.”
“It’s already taken you six hours.”
“So it won’t take much longer.” He yanked at something but it wouldn’t budge and Tyler heard his exo-suit whir in protest, saw his face screw up in pain. It reminded Tyler too vividly of how beat up Fin had been when they left the worldship, the moment he’d been attacked - tossed around like a ragdoll - and fear had gripped Tyler’s heart. Seeing him in pain was something Tyler had discovered he despised. Apparently the boy hadn’t taken even a second to fix himself or his suit up. Tyler wasn’t having that.
“Fin.” He grabbed his arm to stop whatever he was trying to do. “Stop. You need to rest.”
“I’m fine,” Fin said without looking up, as if he wasn’t anything but.
“You’re not.” Their eyes met when Tyler kneeled on the floor beside him. “You haven’t stopped since we left Octavia, haven’t even let Zila check you over. You need a break.”
“I didn’t get hurt that bad,” he protested.
“Oh really? Is that why you’re limping everywhere? Why you wince almost every time you move? Why you can hardly turn your head without getting dizzy?”
“I-”
“Don’t try to pretend you don’t.” Fin scowled and looked away.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Reaching up for a wrench, Finian couldn’t stop his wince or the way his head throbbed and he had to take a moment to steady himself.
“That! That’s what I’m talking about!” Tyler practically yelled, fed up with Fin not taking his health seriously. Fin winced and he instantly felt bad. He held Fin’s shoulders gently and made him face him, speaking softly now. “Fin please. I’m worried about you.”
The Betraskan boy softened under Tyler’s clearly concerned gaze. And it wasn’t just the concern of an Alpha for his squad mate, it was more than that. Finian had been crushing on Tyler for years now and seeing that he might feel even a shred of what he did made Finian’s heart stutter. He’d do whatever Tyler wanted him to when he looked at him that way.
“Okay. I’ll stop in a minute.” He smiled weakly and tried to turn back to his work but Tyler stopped him.
“No. You’re stopping now and you’re going to let me look after you.” Fin raised an eyebrow and mustered the strength for his signature smirk, ignoring the ideas that took root in his mind even as he hinted them to Tyler.
“Look after me how, goldenboy?” A light pink dusted Tyler’s cheeks and Finian grinned at him.
“Not the way you’re thinking, Fin. Not when you’re hurt.” There was a sly smile on Tyler’s face now and Finian was intrigued.
“So when I’m not hurt…?”
“We’ll see.” He grinned and pulled Finian to his feet.
“Maker, I hope so,” Fin sighed. Tyler was laughing for the first time in what felt like forever when he finally dragged Finian down the hall.

Halloween
Pairing: contains Kaliis Gilwraeth x Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, Tyler Jones x Finian de Karran de Seel, Scarlett Jones x Cat Brannock
Request: @window-sill-reeader asked “ What if Halloween wasn't a thing in the future and aurora gets really excited for it but nobody else knows what it is so she force's everyone to wear homemade Halloween customs and throws a Halloween party for the crew. ”
Warnings: swearing, suggestive things, prepare yourself for Finian’s costume
A/N: Okay so it’s mostly general on the relationships but follows Auri so tends to have more focus on Kalora, then Tylian because I am trash and literally have to put it in everything, and then some very background Scarcat. Um, I had a lot of fun writing this and coming up with their costumes (shoutout to some of the guys in aurorafiles for helping with your suggestions). Anyway, happy halloween! and I hope you enjoy this!
Word Count: 2328
*
“What are you doing?” Kal asked as he walked into the common room and found Auri surrounded by piles of fabric.
“Making Halloween costumes,” she replied simply as if that explained anything to Kal.
“Hallow-what?” Auri stopped her sewing and looked up at him.
“Wait. Has no one ever explained Halloween to you? I thought Tyler or someone would have at least.”
“No. I have never heard of this Halloween.”
“Well, looks like I’ve got some educating to do.” She cleared some space on the floor beside her and patted the spot. Kal came and sat beside her. Before she could start explaining, however, the rest of the squad wandered in.
“Hey guys, what’s u- what are you doing?” Tyler looked quite taken aback when he noticed the mess of material that had taken over the entire space.
“She’s making Halloween costumes,” Kal supplied. That didn’t seem to clear anything up for the rest of the squad either and Auri frowned at their puzzled expressions.
“It is October right?” She asked.
“Yeah…” Tyler looked deep in thought when he answered, like he was trying to figure out a particularly difficult astrodynamics question. “Halloween, you said?”
“Yep. What, do you guys not celebrate that anymore?”
“I’ve never even heard of it,” Cat said and most everyone else murmured agreements.
“I read something about it once but I can’t remember anything about it.” Tyler seemed irritated by his own lack of knowledge.
“I believe Halloween is an old Earth festival that took place on the last day of October,” Zila piped up. Of course she’d be the one that knew. “It’s origins were in ancient folklore and it was considered to be the day the veil between the physical world and spirit world was thinnest. In modern times it was more an excuse to dress up, typically in scary costumes, and receive candy from neighbours.” Everyone stared at her in surprise for a moment. Zila really did know everything.
“Yeah that’s about the gist of it,” Auri admitted.
“Sounds weird. I’m in,” Fin said, an excited glint in his eyes. “What do we do?”
“Well everyone celebrates- celebrated differently…”
“Tell us.” Kal smiled encouragingly and Auri explained everything. All the traditions she’d heard of anyway. Pumpkin carving, trick or treating, the parties, the decorating, the costumes, the movie marathons, the haunted houses and ghost tours. Everyone looked beyond excited by the time she was done.
“That sounds like so much fun,” Scarlett exclaimed. “Why don’t we do that anymore?”
“I don’t know but we’re bringing this tradition back,” Cat said. Auri was positively beaming. She loved Halloween and was over the moon that all her friends seemed so excited about it.
“Okay so what are the rules for costumes?” Tyler asked.
“There are none. Some people do scary, some go as their favourite characters, animals, memes, objects, celebrities, nurses, princesses. Literally anything. Some people go all out and some just throw on a short skirt and some cat ears. It’s really up to you.”
“Oh I am going to have so much fun with this.” Finian’s eyes were gleaming and Tyler shot him a nervous look.
“I think telling him about this might have been a mistake.” And Auri had to admit, Tyler was probably right. Still. It would certainly be interesting.
“Don’t worry goldenboy. You’re going to love my costume.”
“I definitely don’t want to see it now,” Cat grimaced.
“I second that.” Kal spoke for the first time in a while. “I’m not sure what to wear myself.”
“Don’t worry,” Auri said with a grin. “I’ve got you covered.” Well that was that, then. If Auri had already decided on something like this, nothing was going to sway her.
“Ooo!” Scarlett suddenly jumped up from where she’d been perched on the arm of a sofa. “We should tell everyone else about Halloween and have a proper party!”
“Oh my god, yes!” Auri jumped up as well. This might just turn out to be the best Halloween she’d ever had.
*
A week later saw the squad and half the legion taking over one of the huge training rooms, dancing and drinking in their homemade costumes. Auri was pleased to see that a lot of people had put real effort into their outfits, though none more so than Scarlett. She’d truly gone all out and embraced the Halloween spookiness and her horror makeup was concerningly convincing. Cat was watching her from the spot she’d claimed against the wall by a plastic skeleton, drink in hand, obviously pining. Auri hoped maybe Cat would finally do something about that tonight or that Scarlett might finally realise. For someone so good at reading people, she was incredibly clueless about her best friend.
Cat looked good. Auri didn’t usually look at Cat that way but even she had to admit the girl was killing it in her retro Top Gun style pilot outfit tonight. Surely Scarlett would take notice of that. Plenty of other people were. Her thoughts on the Cat/Scarlett situation were abruptly cut off when Kal rejoined her with two cups of who knew what.
“Is this living up to your expectations?” He asked as he handed her one of the cups, his cloak brushing against her with the motion.
Auri was very proud of her work on their costumes. She hadn’t even had to think about what they were going to go as. Frodo and Legolas. There was no way she was going to pass up the opportunity to get Kal dressed up as her favourite elf and well, she was short with dark hair and a love of Lord of the Rings. Obviously she had to come as Frodo. And she’d put a lot of effort into making their costumes look good.
“It’s even better than I’d hoped it would be. Everyone really got into it.”
“They certainly did.” Kal surveyed the room, a smile on his face at how well it had all turned out. At how happy it was making Auri.
“Think we have the best costumes?” Auri asked him.
“Yes. Although Scarlett also looks- Great Maker…” Auri turned to see what had shocked Kal so much and nearly choked on her drink. Finian had just walked in. And he’d certainly had fun with his costume, as promised. Auri wasn’t sure whether she should regret mentioning the existence of slutty nurse costumes or not. On the one hand, it was hilarious. On the other, she could happily have gone the rest of her life without seeing Fin wearing such a short dress. And just where the hell had he managed to find fishnets?
“Hey, have you guys seen Fin?” Tyler, dressed in a very tight spandex superhero costume, walked up to them then, already a bit drunk and clearly not having noticed where their eyes were trained yet. Auri didn’t have speech back yet and lifted her hand, wordlessly pointing in Finian’s direction. Tyler’s eyes followed her finger and he let out a strangled noise when he finally laid eyes on the boy.
“...Fuck...me…”
“Funny, I always thought it would be the other way around,” Scarlett teased as she came over and joined them.
“Yeah, usually...” Tyler said absentmindedly before realising he was talking to his twin sister about his sexual preferences and that was not a conversation either of them wanted to have. “I mean…”
“Just stop talking,” Scarlett cut him off.
“Good idea.”
“Happy Halloween!” Finian yelled when he neared the group, eyes raking over Tyler, very clearly enjoying the sight.
“Yeah, I think it will be,” Tyler breathed, eyes still trained on his boyfriend. Scarlett and Auri both groaned in disgust.
“Get your mind out of the gutter or get out of here,” Scarlett warned him. Tyler thought about it for a moment but the longer Finian looked at him like he wanted to eat him alive, the more he wanted to leave and let it happen.
“Okay, looks like we’ll be off then,” Tyler said. Finian was grinning when Tyler took his arm and pulled him away from everyone, disgusted noises following in their wake.
“Maker, I hate being around them sometimes,” Scarlett bemoaned.
“I don’t know. They’re kinda cute,” Auri tried to defend.
“I’m not sure you would be saying that if you had walked in on some of the things I have.” Kal shuddered at some of the memories.
“Is that not why knocking was invented?” She asked.
“Knocking doesn’t make a difference when they’re doing it in the halls and common room,” Scarlett pointed out.
“Point taken. It’s nice they’re both happy though.”
“I suppose.”
“So...what about you?” Auri seized the opportunity to broach the subject of her and Cat. “Anyone making you happy yet?”
“Not at the moment.” Her eyes flicked over to where Cat was standing though and Auri didn’t fail to notice. She exchanged a glance with Kal who nodded slightly, encouraging her to continue.
“You should go for it, you know.”
“Hmm?”
“With Cat.”
“What!?” Scarlett’s eyes widened.
“How have you not noticed she likes you too?”
“Even I find it rather obvious,” Kal backed up.
“Oh.” Scarlett’s eyes returned to Cat who was looking her way as well. She offered her a smile and raised her beer in acknowledgement. Scarlett waved back quickly before turning back to Auri as she spoke again.
“Go get her.”
“Okay,” Scarlett said absently and walked across the room without another word.
“Everyone owes me big time for putting an end to all that pining,” Auri said as she turned back to Kal, now able to give him her full attention like she wanted.
“We do. And what is it I am to owe you for this?”
“A kiss,” Auri suggested with a small smile.
“I think that would be a fair price.” He paid it then and there, leaning down to lightly press their lips together for a moment before pulling away again. His smile was all kinds of fond and Auri felt it warm her from the inside out.
“You know, I think it would be okay for you to pay everyone’s debts. Don’t you?”
“I do think that would be acceptable.”
“Do you wanna get out of here then?” She asked.
“Are you sure you don’t want to stay at the party a bit longer? You were very excited for this tradition.”
“We can have another one next year. Besides, there’s another Halloween tradition I want to introduce you to.”
“And what tradition might that be?” He asked, intrigued. Auri grinned.
“The one where you ‘watch’ horror movies and make out when it gets scary.” Kal’s eyebrows shot up but he was smiling, clearly pleased at that idea.
“I think that sounds like a very good tradition.”
“Me too. Come on.” She took his hand and started tugging him towards the exit. “Let’s go.”
“Do you not wish to say goodbye to the others?”
“They’re already gone.” And looking around, Kal realised she was right. Tyler and Finian were very conspicuously absent from the party - there was no way you could miss them in those outfits - and Scarlett seemed to have slipped away with Cat almost immediately after she’d left them both. Neither of them had any idea where Zila was but she probably hadn’t stayed for long in the first place.
The light in the hall was blinding and they stopped in the doorway for a minute to let their eyes adjust. They immediately wished they hadn’t when a few feet down the hall they saw Tyler and Fin kissing very enthusiastically. How hard was it to wait until they reached one of their rooms?
“Will you two get a room?” Auri said pointedly. Thankfully they stopped and turned to her to apologise. Well, Tyler did. Finian didn’t look the least bit sorry. “I got Cat and Scarlett to get it together by the way. Feel free to thank me.” She grinned, knowing how much both girls’ pining had been driving Tyler mad.
“Oh thank the Maker,” he breathed out. Something flashed in Fin’s eyes in response to Tyler’s words and tone and Auri decided she definitely did not want to know. “I owe you one.”
“Don’t worry. Kal’s got it covered.” Tyler waggled his eyebrows suggestively at that and Auri managed to only blush a little.
“Would you like me to pay his debt now?” Kal asked.
“Yes, please.” She stood on her toes as Kal leaned down and again captured her lips in a soft kiss. He lingered for longer this time and Auri let him. She wasn’t going to be the one to end this. A throat being cleared is what finally did.
“What was that you told us about getting a room?” Fin asked, a smug smirk on his face. Auri rolled her eyes at him.
“I wasn’t groping my boyfriend’s ass, unlike you.” Fin and Tyler just shrugged as if there’d been no problem with what they were doing. “Just find somewhere private before you start taking each other’s clothes off. Please.”
“We’ll try,” Fin assured. Shaking her head, Auri took Kal’s hand again and started walking down the hall.
“We’re going to bed. See you tomorrow. Stay safe!” She called over her shoulder.
“You too!” Tyler yelled back while Fin wolf-whistled.
“Yes Pixieboy! Get i-”
“Shut up Fin.” Tyler stopped him before he could finish whatever he’d been about to say. Thank god for Tyler Jones.
“I get where you and Scarlett are coming from now,” Auri sighed when they rounded a corner. “They are not cute.”
“They certainly aren’t. But you are.” Auri’s cheeks flushed at that and she bit back a grin.
“So are you Legolas.” Kal frowned down at her.
“I would not say I am cute.”
“I would.” She leaned up to kiss his cheek quickly and he couldn’t help but smile at the action. “Come on. You’ve still several people’s debts to pay.” And, when they reached Auri’s room, pay them he did.
