Pokemon Pearl! Gym 1!

21st April

OK! New game time to try and race through! I have a feeling this one will take some time though as the last one did.

Ok this time we will be using new version exclusives and some sinnoh faves starting with my main boy Turtwig!

While not my first sinnoh starter Turtwig and torterra have become my absolute favourite pokemon of all time. I'm excited to use him again. Slow but oh so tanky and reliable I am looking forward to this :) I name him Atlas he has a relaxed nature which I think is +def -spe which is perfect!

I also catch a Starly on route 1 to box and annoyingly on route 202 I get a kricketot, I box him too. That leaves my target as a roll of the dice. I move up to route 204 and manage to catch a shinx thanks to the night time encounters. I name him sparkles!

It has intimidate!!!! I'm thrilled with that one its going to be so helpful Which is -atk +def. It will have to do I can always train him in Sp atk if needed as it does have higher power attacks in the end. It is another favourite and one of the fist pokemon I ever used when I got diamond at 10 years old.

With that I race through Jubilife and prepare for my battle with Barry. I get both pokemon to level 10 and start with Shinx. Intimidate lowers starly attack so I switch into turtwig to save hp. I tank attacks by using withdraw to also raise defence and chip away with tackle to beat it. I then do a little chipping at chimchar before switching to Shinx to finish it with some tackles. A critical hit stops any risk and defeats the chimchar nicely. I will need a fast water type to counter infernape in the future but for now. Easy.

I race through towards oreburgh city use the trainers to get my pokemon to level 14 and challenge roark

My answer to this battle is simple! Turtwig. So I can OHKO both Onix and geodude. But that seems silly because cranidos could be dangerous. So! Vs Geodude I max out Turtwigs defence with withdraw. Use absorb to get most of my hp back. Then is Onix a quick absorb does everything I need. Last up is Cranidos. With My maxxed out defence there is very little he can do as he tried to headbutt. I used absorb and then razor leaf to finish the job taking no damage in the end and excellent start and an excellent victory!
