7. What is your go to tidy-your-room album? maybe AMOK by atoms for peace but also maybe the truant/rough sleeper single by burial, since it’s like, the perfect length time-wise to clean ur room11. Which album is your favorite from your favorite band or artists discography?honestly, maybe a moon shaped pool by radiohead? idk if its my fav objectively or not but some of my best memories are associated w that album. and like, daydreaming, man. the best song to ever exist imo. thanks!!

Burial, “Truant”
“I fell in love with you.”
Released by the end of 2012, less than a year after Kindred, “Truant” and “Rough Sleeper” had fans wondering whether we could trust Burial again at least when it came to putting out new music regularly. A new format was beginning to take shape. His songs sounded like chapters of a greater narrative -- 5-second interruptions were calculated, they were slow burners.
These are masterworks on the subject of narrative progression. “Truant” starts with an elegant percussion which takes six minutes to develop fully and properly. Vocals are sliced until they are unrecognizable and the ambiance is fantasmagorical and (again, why not) nocturnal. In a sense, this is the demonstration of peak “Burial sound” we’ve been talking about this week. The track slowly unfolds by taking away and adding elements. Bevan adds an important element here: effortless progression.
“Rough Sleeper” features some of the most beautiful moments in William Bevan’s career. The vocals, an important part of almost any of his best tracks, play an unusually distant part here. They suggest “Rough Sleeper” to be a pop track, but they are buried by his other tricks -- dissonance, the crackling noise, the ambiance.
Truant, as a whole, is an ode to the art of DJing, the art of progression and, again, on leaving the listener at dark and nocturnal places. The bells sitting at the end of “Rough Sleeper” remind of why William has referred so many times to hope as an important part of his track in interviews over the years. Those simple bells are some of the most beautiful and cathartic sounds he’s ever put his hands on.

Burial announces new album Tunes 2011-2019
Burial is back with a new album. Titled Tunes 2011 to 2019, it’s a collection of, you guessed it, songs from the past decade, which saw an array of EPs and singles that the British producer put out in the wake of 2007’s Untrue. The album is described as bringing together Burial’s “long, twisting, collage works, which travel through unexpected zones, to his more pointed, poppier side and back to the haunted, open horizons of beat-less pieces.” Tunes 2011 to 2019 is out December 6 via Hyperdub. Scope the cover art above and tracklist below. Tunes 2011 to 2019 tracklisting: CD1 01. State Forest 02. Beachfires 03. Subtemple 04. Young Death 05. Nightmarket 06. Hiders 07. Come Down To us 08. Claustro 09. Rival Dealer CD2 01. Kindred 02. Loner 03. Ashtray Wasp 04. Rough Sleeper 05. Truant 06. Street Halo 07. Stolen Dog 08. NYC http://j.mp/2MLD6vM
