so my friends have dragged me into cardfight!! vanguard hell so i wanted to make some custom sleeve art for my funny cards... i'll probs end up redrawing this because i know i can do better now, but... !!

Δoverdress

I have a fun idea for a third variant of overdress! I call it  Δoverdress (pronounced “delta” over dress). as the name suggests it uses three different cards to overdress. However, the big thing here is this: one of those cards is the vanguard. How it works is that during your turn you can place a  Δoverdress card on the Vanguard Circle by soul charging the listed cards (I’m thinking trickstar and trickmoon for at least one of them, others could just use a prayer dragon, or even another specific card).  Δoverdress cards would be grade 4 Talisman with tripple drive and 20000 base power. Here are some examples:

Crowned Dragon, Vairina Eclipse. This is the one that would definitely require both star and moon. Its appearance is a vairina with red and blue armor, wielding a sword and shield made of red/blue flames. On its back are four wings, two of nirvana’s and two of bavsargra’s. Its effect is that when its attack hits, you can soul blast a trickstar to stand with -1 drive, and when it doesn’t hit you can soul blast trickmoon for the same effect. 

Transcend Dragon, Vairina Express. This one is based on dragonic nouvelle vague, and has similar armor, with an armored skirt and rounded crest on the head, with nouvelle vague-esque wings and a bright red/dark red color scheme. Its effect is that when it attacks you can soul blast one and counter blast one to make your opponent unable to use perfect guard for that battle, and the effect that during your turn all of your opponent’s trigger effects are negated if both players have 5 or more damage. 

Blaze Dragon, Vairina Inferno. This one has a red and gold color scheme with a heavily armored aesthetic, and two patta (the cool gauntlets with swords coming out of them). Its effect is that whenever your opponent places a card on the guardian circle, you can counter blast one to gain power equal to that unit’s shield.

Thundering Dragon, Vairina Storm. This one has a dark silver and bronze color scheme, with spiky armor holding a spear. its effect is that when it attacks, you can discard three cards before the drive check in order to make it so it can attack all your opponent’s units at once. 

I like card games.

Inspired by Trickmoon!!! this fic was so much fun to write <33

I’m so glad they didn’t do Bavsargra Masques - I would’ve seriously considered dropping the anime if they’d gone that route, because she’s the other character (besides Yu-yu, since he’s the main protagonist, but this is Vanguard and, well glances at Aichi and PSYqualia) that I’d ruled out for a Masques unit. Like most TCG anime series, the character and their signature unit are meant to be a reflection of each other. In Mirei’s case, her growth as a character is reflected in Bavsargra’s growth and friendships in the lore.

Which means, given the character development we’ve had for Mirei, it would be completely derailing her growth thus far if we got Bavsargra Masques. Joining the Uniformers means valuing strength and winning above all else, even at the cost of your own individuality and personality as a card fighter, even if it means Not Having Fun anymore. And every time someone comes back from that, it’s because they fought Yu-yu (or other like minded characters like Danji or Tohya) and rediscovered the joys and fun of cardfighting with their own style. Mirei’s already done that - that was her fight against Yu-yu at the top of Nagoya Castle at the end of S2 of overDress.

And overDressing Trickmoon into Vailord? Ignoring the TCG side of things (Vailord is amazing and definitely getting added to my Bavsargra deck, the only question is just how many copies lol), from a character perspective, this is Mirei moving forward while also remembering her roots. She originally played Nirvana, before changing over to Bavsargra and gave Yu-yu his cards for Jheva in willDress. It’s also her recognizing that she can’t change what she’s done (just like how she’s not going to go back to playing Nirvana/Jheva because that’s Yu-yu’s deck now) but she can move forward with that experience and change and be stronger. And in this regard, I think she’s very much the Ren to Yu-yu’s Aichi, so knowing what happened with Ren during Link Joker, I’m going to guess Mirei is probably going to go undefeated this season ... until the end (possibly because she’ll end up facing Jinki before Yu-yu does).

Sometimes I remember that Nick has an animated short for the Harpy Gee webcomic and they never picked it up. It makes me so upset. I also remember that Trickmoon didn't get picked up by cartoon network. That also makes me upset as well. I wish I had infinite money to make my own animation streaming platform.
