A Protestant Talks With a Catholic Priest
COMMENTARY:
I'm writing as I watch this and I have paused at timestamp 4:48. So far, so good. I was raised in the communion of the Army Protestant Chapel and I was confirmed in the Chapel of the Centurion at Ft. Monroe sometime in my junior year of high school, 6 months before I heard Sergeant Pepper's, Ode to Billy Joe for the first time and that John McCain was having Christmas in the Hanoi Hilton, after a tour of the medical services of a city being bombed by guys just like him before he intercepted a SAM in his F-8. That can spoil your wholle day.
I'm not Catholic and an really don't trust their version of Jesus because of all the blatant pedophiles in the cloth. The orthodox understanding of St. Paul, the man, is that he is like Peter, a confirmed celebant long before he was crucified. He had effectively given up sex by the time he gave up fishing for a living, but it was just like Spencer Tracy in "The Old Man and the Sea". As a history major, you do understand that Hemingway wrote that as a fable of St. Peter fulfilling his commission to "Feed My Sheep". It is a very elegant Catholic parable. A lot of spanish sunlight, like the moment of truth in “7 Spanish Angels”.  This is I'm writing as I write this and I have paused at timestamp 4:48. So far, so good. That's who Peter is, That's who this priest is selling and it's a true portrait, but both Rome and Canterbury do a bit of bait and switch and hand off most of their intellectual grounding to Paul and Paul is as queer as a $3 bill, but everybody pretends he is just exactly like Peter OR if he's queer, then so is Jesus and it goes on and on. Peter was raised as a Jew in a very circumscribed sexual climate focused intently, and exclusively, on reproduction. Producing children as a divine obsession. The reason they rested on the 7th day was so they could fuck and if you only fucked on the Sabbath, the law of averages was working for you to that end. And women, who have had children and like the process, come to know exactly when they are ripe for baby making. I've had a lot of sex with a lot of women who had acquired that sense of their own bodies and I've had sex with a whole lot more women who didn't but knew that when they needed to fuck they could count on me.
Paul came from a Greek culture where naked wrestling was encouraged and there was (and may still be) a respected tradition of legal male union as a religious pre-Christian ritual, which is exactly what the circumcision of Timothy is all about, but everybody pretends is an expedient measure allowing Timothy to move in and out of Synagogues, legitimately. It's is an expedient measure, but it provided Paul the sexual outlet he required to soothe his “thorn in the flesh”: he was into twinks, like Roy Cohn. Pretty boys. He made a pass at John Mark, mistaking him for Jesus's “Pretty Boy” and John Mark wasn't that kind of guy and neither was Jesus. Neither was Socrates. It was universal, the Greek Love traditions, but it travels well and the Catholic Church would profit from making long term relationships in the Church the norm, like the Salvation Army. Most of their abuse would resolve more or less naturally and painlessly.
So,, anyway, there is no one in the Catholic Church I identify with except Cornelius. The one thing I identify about Jesus is that He had been through Ranger School, because He was absolutely mission oriented. The phrase “Give us this day our daily bread” translates into Ranger Speak as “MISSION” in a 5 Paragraph warning Order. Just like “Mission” Impossible”, only, just getting the order means you have accepted its premis, its assumptions, its legality and its imperative without qualification. “Instant Obedience:Self-Discipline”. Jesus is community organizer and the Squad Leader in a TO&E USMC Squad. 13 people. 1 leader,-player 12 players. The followers of Jesus showed up for the breaking of the bread, but, as your priest says, the Apostles are players under the authority of Jesus and His authority conveys directly in a chain of command kind of way.
So, I see Jesus as operating at the matrix between the economies of scale of the task environment, the battle space, and the economies of scale of the next higher command and the whole rest of the Army  It is US Army doctrine that the squad is the basic unit of the military organization. Jesus is running an Army squad engaged in social engineering, just like the Green Berets in Vietnam before the commie cocksuckers in Hanoi decided to steal the Republic of Vietnam for Uncle Ho and Joseph Stalin.
So, here's the thing to understand about Cornelius that's pertinent to your experience: Cornelius is a republican soldier serving his nation in a foreign, and actively hostile, territory, Indian Country, and he, Cornelius, is doing his most important work outside the wire just like the Green Berets in Vietnam before the commie cocksuckers fired on Ft. Sumter, in effect. Cornelius is working outside the wire just the the 38th Indiana “Cyclone” Division in Afghanistan right at this moment.  Out in IED land. That's where Cornelius is. Jim Kimsey, the venture capitalist that backed Steve Case and AOL, was a Green Beret in Vietnam back when it was cool to be in Counter-Insurgency in the Army, and he and his team built an orphanage for the same reasons Cornelius helped build the synagogue in Capernaum. The same imperative. Kimsey's orphange is still in operation. If you want to understand why Afghanistan is so important, it's because we are using the lessons learned from Vietnam to help Afghanistan, including the Taliban, bot adopt a superior form of national problem solving and organically spiritual health and economic equity as an expression of the economics of Jesus as explicated by Adam Smith as a moral science which I call process theology.
Before I go back to the video, I wanted to complete my thought about women knowing when their eggs drop is that the Samaritan woman in John 4 is at that moment and she wants to get pregnant, just like Tamar with Judah. The interpretation that she, the Samaritan woman in John 4 is a whore is as much bullshit as anything that comes out of Canterbury. I don't know Rome's version of the passage, but if you want to understand what bullshit the Pro-Life/Salvation Gospel is, ask your wife if it makes a difference whether the women in John 4 is a whore or just a woman with a mission and a window of opportunity.
St. Peter is asexual. St. Paul is a South Beach drag queen without the wardrobe. Both Rome and Canterbury are selling St. Peter, but you are getting St. Paul.
4:48: lift off.
Hover at 8:17  St. Paul is the dominant Apostle of American Evangelicals: Peter is your favorite from the perspective of Paul.
Evangelicals lean heavily upon Paul because of his emotional appeal relative to the “Just the Facts” testimony of Peter.  Here's an example where God doesn't not consider our expectations as a critical factor in His design, Paul, in particular, appeals to women. According to the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, Peter was actively hostile to everything Mary represented. Part of this is a problem Peter had with the whole idea of eating with gentiles and there is little question in my mind he at least agreed with the prayer of pharisees of the age “Thank you, Lord, that I was not born a slave, a dog/gentile or a woman”. I mean, Peter was fighting an up-hill battle all the way in regards to the implications of Mark 7:19 and Acts 10, while Paul   was a pig in shit with the whole abrogation of all things kosher. And that whole drag queen aspect of his personality evident in his writing attracted women in ways very similar to the way Jesus did. I mean, Peter sent a woman to argue Romans in front of Theophilus and the covert Christian cell in the Praetorian Guard that represented the Church of Rome and why the Catholic Church remained in Rome. The Christian Church is a legacy of the Italian Cohort both Pilate and Cornelius were employed by: they got their paychecks via The Praetorian Guard, just like Julius Caesar. Except for the whole arising from the dead thing, the whole l'Affaire Crist was handled in a routine manner and His file happen to land on a desk in Rome and there it stayed until Constantine disbanded the Praetorian Guard after the Milvian Bridge, no hard feelings, we're just moving you to Iowa to be closer to real people sort of thing.
8:17 Resume:
9:52 pause: Everywhere the legions are, Christianity appears. The whole story of the experience of the Roman soldiers in Matthew 27:66 and Luke 23:26 – 47 goes throughout all the legions by that mysterious grapevine of the soldier's Rumor Control that relayed the murder of the negro soldiers at Ft. Pillow to the negro soldiers in the Army of the Potomac before Petersburg before the publication of Stars-and-Stripes, which wasn't created until the first world war.
Christianity is a creature of the Roman legions and a legacy of the Profession of Arms. The soldiers of Rome were in service to Rome but they offered their oaths to Yaweh, Queen of Battle and performed their Duty to Rome on that basis. That's a central tenet of Paul's legal argument in Romans.
Jesus placed a bet with The Satan that He could create a church without a bureaucracy. And He realized at the Transfiguration that He couldn't, which is why He was so brutal with Peter “Get thee behind me”. The Temptation is a continuation of the wagering between God and The Satan begun in the Book of Job and The Satan went long on the assumption that, to complete the process begun with Moses to create a universal consciousness of The One, Jesus was going to have to perform demonstrations of logistical competence, organizational efficacy and some death defying stunt and Jesus went short. Feeding the 5000 and the 4000 established His logistical competence, His scourging of the Temple merely emphasized the practical necessity of organizational efficacy in order to sustain His logistical competence but He believed He could finesse the death-defying stunt, personally, by avoiding fatal confrontation in the manner of wily Odysseus. And then, the Holy Spirit tossed Lazarus into the mix and, after four days, there is your death defying stunt. It is useful to remember that the Book of Job is a cosmic farce, with God, the Father, as the butt of the joke. The Satan tricks God, the Father, twice to beat up on Job for no other purpose than to exploit God, the Father,'s pride, And it works. And the Temptation of Jesus is a similar farce, a game of cosmic Three Card Monte, where Jesus believes He can always find the Queen of Spades until He discovers it was the Queen of Hearts, all along.
Jesus is absolutely correct that the Church He envisions is organic in nature, but even a jellyfish has structure and man has a spine to support the cathedral of the Spirit and it isn't even a paradox: the spine serves the spirit, The law was made for man, not man for the law. And the law propels mankind in a manner similar to how the spine propels the man and that's exactly what Jesus had in mind, but He didn't know it until The Satan made it apparent.
9:52 resumes.
14:52 full stop. The Canon Law, as ratified in 1918/1983, is what the Roman Empire lost when Constantine disbanded the Praetorian Guards, essentially, the Inspector General function that Baron von Stuebin brought to Valley Forge. A great strength of the Roman legions, as personified by the centurions, was uniform doctrine, training and the operational arts and that was maintained by the Praetorian Guard in pretty much the same function as the Pentagon, today (actually, all elements of the Executive of the constitutional government, i.e. The Republic).
In terms of Canon Law, I am a Protestant and the Presbyterian structures of Canterbury inform my own notion of the Body of Christ. It's why I say the Pro-Life doctrine is such heretical bullshit. It's a made-up doctrine established entirely for political fund raising.
From the description here, Canon Law became, in 1918, what John Knox presented with the Book of Discipline in 1560. Federalist 10 is basically a recapitulation of the Book of Discipline, which reflected the structures as processes of the Praetorian Guard, which was a practical application of the concepts presented in Plato's Republic, As Bruce Gore observes, the Romans were good students of philosophy but never professors of philosophy. And that's worked out pretty well.
14:52 restart:
15:25 “How does one go to heaven?”
One fucking dies, shit for brains.
There is no mystery, Going to heaven is why Jesus went to Hell, for Christ's sake! Review John 3:16, if you don't understand. As a paratrooper, you have a far better chance of going to heaven, in the final analysis, than your parachute opening and that's something like a 98% certainty. You are worried about the wrong fucking thing.
This is the problem with the Salvation Gospel of Campus Crusade for Christ (which is where I first encountered, and rejected, Salvation Gospel).  I went to Vietnam on the basis of Liberation Gospel: that's what Jim Kimsey was doing as a Green Beret in Vietnam. Everybody at that time believed in the Liberation Gospel of the Marshall Plan. Salvation Gospel is an exercise in monetized navel gazing.
15:25 Begin again.
I'm listening to Kellyanne Conway on FOX News Sunday. She is as anchored in existential reality as the Pro-Life doctrine reflects anything Jesus represents except His repulsion of the den of thieves in Jerusalem.
22:11 this gets back to the Book of Job, In my experience, it is impossible to actually know The One, as I do and Job did, and, subsequently, not know The One and to know, know, know Him is to Love Love Love Him, The mind will not allow not knowing while remaining whole and healthy. That's the thing about having a relationship with The One that Job has that God in the Book of Job doesn't understand: you cannot run away from God. And to actively hate The One is, as your priest says, virtually impossible beyond the conceit of Satan in Paradise Lost.
The issue of a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit, as a proxy for The One, is awareness of the presence of the Holy Spirit in your consciousness in some manner. Most people begin with dreams. Making two parachute jumps is a good way to calibrate your Pucker Factor to distinguish between the Fear of the Lord and garden variety fear of fire, heights, the dark and death and dismemberment by tooth and claw. The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever, while pure animal fear is not. You can get over pure animal fear, which brings us back to the Book of Job.
22:11 restart
22:46  Resurrection validates the God Hypothesis. It's the thing the Richard Carriers of the world cannot conveniently dismiss as myth: the entire Roman army understood the nature of crucifixion and the anomaly of resurrection was big medicine for people who had already been baptized by fire and baptized by blood and had a working, professional relationship with Yaweh, Queen of Battle.
In the final analysis, The One remains a mystery. The great gift of Jesus is that He represents the existential evidence that the mystery is the universe, itself, saying “Hi!”
22:46 restart
23:48   - 25:00 The reign of God in the Kingdom of Heaven here, on earth, brings us right back to Liberation Gospel. Because our salvation is a given, our obligation arising from John 3:16 is to go forth unto the world and bring on Earth as it is in Heaven which brings us right back to Ranger Jesus and the 5 Paragraph Field Order.
25:00 It's not about you going to heaven. Rome and Canterbury agree, at least as far as N.T. Wright is concerned. This is not the Campus Crusade for Campus position, which is like proposing to compete in the Tour de France on a bike with training wheels. I mean, the 4 spiritual laws are great, but then what?  For the Charismatic, it's sexualized navel gazing rebranded as the Spirit of God moving on the waters.
25:35  Great video. As a Protestant, the idea that there was anything that needed to be pushed back against is just someone looking for a fight. I'm not going to become a Catholic for the same reasons I'm not going to become Jewish or Muslim: the essence is available to me from where I am,
Anyway, good show.

Duke Summer Faculty Reads: Nancy MacLean
Is describing oneself as a “classic liberal”, a 19th Century construct, an effort to avoid being thrown in with modern conservatism but still being conservative about a lot of issues?
COMMENARY:
“Classic liberal” is a  weasle word for the Public Choice agenda to replace the US Constitution with the Free Market Fascism of  Jefferson Davis’s States Rights theory of property, labor and the means of production
Meet the Economist Behind the One Percent’s Stealth Takeover of America
First of all, I recommend reading this article about James McGill Buchanan, a “classic liberal” economist behind the Public Choice economic agenda that has been driving Conservative politics since the Powell memo in 1972 that has shaped the thinking of the Kock brothers, Robert Mercer, Steve Bannon and Newt Gingrich. ‘
“The reason? Duke historian Nancy MacLean contends that his philosophy is so stark that even young libertarian acolytes are only introduced to it after they have accepted the relatively sunny perspective of Ayn Rand.” Lynne Parramore
Public Choice is basically a repackaged version of Jefferson Davis’s State’s Rights theory of property, labor and the means of production shared by Frederick Winslow Taylor, who created Scientific Management that is the core technology of the Harvard Business School (Scientific Management, in and of itself, is a perfectly valid performance technology, but is embedded in, a perverted by, the same theological context as Marxism: Harvard “capitalism” and Marxism are different sides of the same theological coin).
Public choice is American Tory Socialism based on Locre’s formulation of “life, liberty and property” that is a British legacy of the Magna Carta, property being the criteria for the franchise of King John at Runnymeade. This construct is reflected in the constitutional arrangements that established Thomas Jefferson’s property rights as being superior to Sally Heming’s human rights.
The purpose of the Public choice agenda is to restore this construct as the law of the land by constitutional convention arising from a referendum of 36 states.
The use of terms like “classic liberal” is part of the campaign to sow moral confusion by reframing what is fundamentally a venal agenda as benign, if not actually progressive. An example of this communication strategy is reflected in Lindsey Graham’s slander of the Squad as “communists”, etc, in support of Dumb Ass Donnie’s rancid bigotry. An Evangelical pastor just issued the opinion that the economics of Jesus is Free Market economics. Jesus existed in a global Free Market economic ecology that was mitigated somewhat by Pax Romana, but the actual economic dynamic was basically the kibbutz economics of pre-1947 Palestine, the community as a capitalist tool.
In contrast to the Tory Socialism of Public choice, the US Constitution is founded on the essential construct of Democratic Socialism: “Life,Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness” that emerges from the Beatitudes and the economics of Jesus, as explicated by Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations, the true source of “classic liberalism”.
In the final analysis, Public choice is just a pretty name for Free Market Fascism. Steve Bannon is the front man for a transnational criminal consortium committed to destabilizing constitutional authority, globablly, and dismantling the administrative state in order to replace it with the Free Market Fascism of Argintina under the Generals. As near as I can tell, all the astro-turf movements, globally, are within 3 degrees of organizations Steve Bannon has been coordinating since the Mercers began funding his activities.
Nancy McLean has a number of videos on YouTube that expand upon the Parramore article. This is a useful point of departure.

Could young white evangelicals' opposition to Trump and his policies (as compared to older white evangelicals) portend problems for the GOP brand in the post-Trump political era?
COMMENTARY:
It’s hard to say. It is important to understand that the Pro-Life Evangelical theology is basically a business model and all the young white Evangelicals want to hook into the cash flows and life style of a tax subsidized family business.
It is impossible to overstate how fully invested Evangelicals are in monetizing Jesus Inc.
This actually brings up a related issue: Marxism and Capitalism (as defined by Ray Dalio and the Harvard Business School) are economic theologies, that is, proto-religious belief systems. You can get a sense of how invested Conservatives are invested in Capitalism as a moral doctrine by reviewing the recent videos of George F. Will, Jr,’s reminiscing about when it was cool to be a Conservative on YouTube. Until 2008, his entire economic model rested upon the fallacy that markets represented a moral agency and that the invisible hand was an instrument of material equity and moral integrity and not just an economic wind sock indicating capital flows.
Adam Smith considered economics to be a moral science, but, like the Zen in the mountains, the only ethics in economics are the ethics you bring to the market place.
This as a veritas lost to George F. Will, Jr., and the Pro-Life Evangelical business model, as Mick Mulvaney illustrates with his Ash Wednesday Cross on his forehead while he guts financial protections for consumers. He has made it the Sign of the Beast in service to the economics of the anti-Christ.

23. The Sermon on the Mount (pt.4, Luke 6:43 - 7:10)
COMMENTARY:
The centurion in Matthew 8/Luke 7 is Cornelius, the centurion featured in Acts 10 and is the only person other person along with Abraham who is justified by faith.
Cornelius was probably the author of the Gospel of Mark, which is essentially an intelligence report from Pilate's Chief of Staff (Cornelius) up the chain of command to the Spy Master in the Praetorian Guard that reported to the Emperor. Cornelius is specifically identified as a member of the centuriate of the Preatorian Guard in Acts 10 as part of the Italian Cohort or Regiment. Both Pilate and Cornelius were agents of this first example of True Warfare: Pilate was on the same diplomatic career track that took Julius Caesar to Gaul and Cornelius was a career centurion who had attained his climax status and was seconded to Pilate's headquarters as his valedictory role before retirement, which was common.
The Gospel of Mark was at least the 2nd intelligence report about Jesus and His resurrection, the 1st originating immediately after the events recorded in all the Gospels and before the Ascension and Pentacost. The initial intelligence report is probably reflected in the Gospel of Peter and compelled Tiberius to propose elevating Jesus to the status of legal deity, which the Senate rejected (Apology, Chapter V. Tertullian). This version of the events was not derivative of Matthew and Luke, but was original testimony compiled in the so-called Q Source.
The Gospel of Mark begins when Jesus appears above the Roman military horizon as a potential insurgent and much of the testimony is the product of the Roman spy system that was collected before Jesus was arrested and then woven into the narrative provided by Peter during the 3 day debriefing referred to in Acts 10 with the literary device of "immediately". The narrative of Mark is probably true to a date-time line consistent with the methods of military intelligence still practiced to day.  Theophilus is either the Spymaster who commissioned Luke/Acts and managed the Palestine desk in the intelligence service or is a code designation for the Christian portfolio. In either case, the manager of this portfolio was probably the author of Hebrews and functioned in a manner more or less identical to George Smiley in the LeCarre novels about MI6
The legend of the resurrection moved through the Roman legions virtually overnight. There were at least 2000 soldiers in the Antonia Fortress of the Roman Praetorium more or less involved with tormenting Jesus after He was led away. At Passover, the Romans routinely surrounded Jerusalem with the 2 legion garrisons in the region for crowd control and the soldiers in the Antonia Fortress were the quick reaction force and body guard of Pilate. Like Cornelius, they all shared Jesus's relationship with Yaweh, Queen of Battle, a relationship I likewise share. Like the sacrifice of Isaac, the Gospel of Mark is a study in the nature of duty and the authority the centurior refers to is an element of the Profession of Arms.  In the Civil War, the soldiers in both armies referred this as "Meeting the Elephant" and is captured by "The Battle Hymn of the Republic".
The centurion, as a structure of the Roman military establishment, is a novel innovation that is the leading edge of the Industrial Revolution. At the time,  the armies the Romans faced were political confederations, not unlike the Confederation of Nations that defeated Custer at the Little Big Horn. This confederation arrangement is why both David and Solomon maintained huge harems, for the political alliances the marriages represented. The problem with confederations, which plagued the American southern rebellion, is that they are barely binding and, as occured with the death of Ahab in I Kings 22, they disintegrated when the organizing principle died with the commanding general: "36 As the sun was setting, a cry spread through the army: “Every man to his town. Every man to his land!”
In contrast, the Roman legions, like Latin, were put together like Lego blocks and the centurions represented a horizontal structure that acted, like the modern NCO, as a gyroscopic flywheel for stability and uniformity,
Like the modern NCO of True Warfare, the centurion/soldier was a servant leader who is a creature of the rule of law and the cultural ethic common to both Rome and the ethic of Jesus argued in Paul's Romans. This is in contrast to the samurai/warrior of Real Warrior, who is responding to a personal aesthetic, such as the individuals of Gideon's 300 and the example of Joshua. Cornelius obvious recognized these qualities in the narratives of the Hebrew scriptures.
Finally, virtually of the manuscripts that originated out of Alexandria were codex, that is, in the same form as the leaved books of the modern library. This is a result of the spy reports that came into Pilate's intelligence services were recorded on loose leaf papryus and it was easier to comply a report going up the chain of command from this informal organization (especially as it reflected the real date/time line) into a codex than to record it in scrolls. The original contents of the Q source is reflected in the testimony of the Roman content of the 4 gospels and can be harmonized on that basis with perfect integrity.
Just for the record, Jesus was authentically astonished by the centurion's faith and not merely feighing for pedogolocial purposes. Being human, Jesus was constantly being enlightened, such as by the woman with the chronic flow and the universal nature of His own mission by the Syro-Phonecian woman.  Bart Ehrman claims that the earliest versions of Jesus' encounter with the leper in Mark 1, Jesus was angry by the initial breach of protocol.  I happen to agree with him, Ehrman, because Jesus was a good Jewish boy and had to learn how to become a Messiah.  Later scribes altered this encounter, but, as a combat veteran, I tend to recognize the humanity of Jesus before His divinity, because He was on a mission that ended on the Cross, when all that walking on water shit was abandoned so that He could rise on the 3rd day and come to sit on the right hand of God, the Father, almighty, and judge between the quick and the dead.
Much of the dialogue in the scriptures is interpolation of the immediate emotional experience of any given event, such as Sarai laughing when she heard she was to bear a child. It's Coleridge's Romantic Ideal: moments of great emotion recalled in tranquility.
In the case of the centurion in Mark 15:39 (who is not Cornelius), his exclamation "Verily, this man was the son of God" is an interpolation of his initial reaction, which was "Oops!"
And that’s the truth.

Why is the US trade representative Robert Lightnizer saying that Vietnam must take steps to cut its trade surplus with the US?
COMMENTARY:
Because he is an idiot and engaged in Steve Bannon’s treason. He and Navarro are determined to install an economic paradigm identical to the condition of Europe and Asia in 1947, when a white male American businessman could get a blow job in Berlin for a loaf of bread,
Peter Navvaro is why President Xi and the G-19 won’t do a deal with Donnie Duck Ass (below). and why Boris Johnson wants to leave the EU and make a deal based on Steve Bannon’s Free Market Fascism.

Conservatism Under Threat
COMMENTARY:
This is a eulogy for Conservatism, consigned to the dust bin of economic relevance.
Good Riddance.
The one thing George F Will and Woodrow Wilson share is their congenital, unexamined, and morally repugnant theory of white supremacy as a divine expression of natural law.
Conservatism is the "nigger, nigger, nigger" branch of economic theology while Marxism is the "Imagine" branch of economic theology.
Adam Smith describes the economics of Jesus as a moral science.
Ronald Reagan is the fulfillment of all of George F.  Will’s economic and theological  wet dreams. It’s something he shares  with Grover Norquist.

Is Barack Obama the most enlightened president in the United States history?
COMMENTARY:
I voted for Obama, twice, and I would have voted for him a 3rd time absent the 22nd Amendment. He and Bush managed to respond to the 2008 economic crises effectively and begin the recovery that Donnie Duck Ass inherited and is managing to sabotage with his reckless tax reform that has required the deficit spending to replace the liquidity required to sustain the Bull Market he hopes will get him re-elected. So, compared with all things Republican, Obama is in a diferent universe.
However, his economic model is a variation on the DLC model that Bill Clinton employed and Clinton’s model is a liberal version of Reaganomics, which has produced the growing economic malaise since 1981 that Donnie Duck Ass exploits with his base. Democrats pretty much bought into Supply-Side economics in 1981 because they didn’t understand the economics of the Nixon-Moynihan-Carter “Affirmative Action” agenda that had begun to get real traction by the time Reagan took office and was designed to transform the Military-Industrial Complex to an Aerospace-Entrepreneurial Matrix that was designed to create the infrastructure necessary to support a lunar colony beginning with a NASA-Soyez base by 2001. Reagan, of course, abandoned this agenda in favor of cannibalizing the existing infrastructure and looting the public treasury and transfering it to the 10% of the population earning $50,000/year or more as part of the Public Choice agenda that Steve Bannon is promoting as the Free Market Fascism of Cuba before Castro.
For various reasons, neither Clinton nor Obama seemed to realize this. In addition, Obama came to town with the parochial culture of the Chicago business model that Valerie Jarret reinforced which reflects the instituional Fascism of the University of Chicago and the Public Choice agenda of its school of economics, so Obama, in addition to being somewhat clueless about the economic system Demcrats had swallowed in 1981, reinforced the embrace of zero-sum, closed system, gold-based and static economic modeling of Reaganomics. For some reason, Democrats couldn’t recognize the blatant appeal to white supremacy in all things Reaganomics, including George Gilder’s Supply Side manifesto “Wealth and Poverty”. So, in regards to economics, Obama is no more enlightened than Clinton, who chose Laura d’Andrea Tyson as chairman of economic advisors over Paul Krugman, who represents the economics of the Green New Deal, because Tyson was as cute as a bug.
So, Obama and “economic enlightenment” aren’t really a thing.
In addition to that, Obama failed to adopt Bill Clinton’s foreign policy, which I refer to as the Clinton Doctrine, which was the antithesis of the Bush foreign policy based on the Project for the New American Century. Clinton should have shared a Nobel Peace Prize with the French Foreign Legion Blue Helmet Peace Makers in Bosnia who made the Dayton Accords possible and turned the page on the Cold War. In order for the UN-NATO task force to accomplish its mission of putting out the conflict in Bosnia and Kosovo, Putin had to permit its intervention into Russia’s sphere of influence. This gesture of military forbearance led to the turn=over of the Prestinka Airport by the Russian flying column to Wesley Clark’s NATO column, an incident which infuriated Clark but signaled a new era of NATO-Russian constructive interaction which was absolutely crucial after 911.
Bush and Cheney of course abandoned the Clinton Doctrine in favor of their neo-colonial agenda of regime change and aggresive intervention in favor of big oil (such as is occuring in Venezuela, currently) as reflected in the Project for the New American Century. I expected Obama to abandon this neo-imperialism and restore the Clinton Doctrine as reflecting the idea and intent of the award of his Nobel Prize for Peace.
Instead, he and Secretary Clinton more or less doubled down on the regime change Bush Doctrine with their intervention in Libya, the assassination of Ghaddafi, and what amounted to a program of sanctions against Russia designed to punish Putin based, in part, on the folk lore of Bill Browser, an international thief and confederate of the criminal elements of the Russian Kleptocracy of the Oligarchs who sent the tanks to crush democracy that Yeltsin faced down.
I don’t have a credible explanation for Obama’s foreign policy choices at the outset of his administration except his collaboration with Bush on the economy and, as I say, the parochial limits of Valerie Jarrett’s influence on his world view combined with his own inexperience in the field, but it wasn’t enlightenment. In fact, my personal opinion is that his administration’s response to Putin was misinformed by Hillary Clinton’s Russian narrative and fueled by his personal animus from being disrespected by Putin, who didn’t get the memo on his Nobel Prize. Obama got spancked by Putin in a manner similar to the way JFK got spanked by Kruschev, a sort of welcome to the NFL initiation JFK got over and Obama never did.
So, for those reasons, I don’t consider Obama to be the most enlightened president in my lifetime, but, paradoxically, he ranks up there with Lincoln, historically. Unlike any Republican since Eisenhower, he was capable of learning and, given a third term and a constitutionally responsive Congress, the economy he managed to reconstruct provided a reliable prototype for the complete overhaul of Reaganomics along the lines of the Green New Deal.
Whatever else he was, Obama wasn’t Donnie Duck Ass or Moscow Mitch McConnell, bent on installing Steve Bannon’s Public Choice variation on Jefferson Davis’s State’s Rights theory of property, labor and the means of production of Free Market Fascism and Cuba before Castro.
All things considered, Obama was more enlightened that Moscow Mitch McConnell and the favorite candidate of the Russian Kleptocracy, Donnie Duck Ass.

What thing do you think will be Donald Trump's downfall and cost him this election?
COMMENTARY:
It's useful to remember that George Wallace sucked all the Kluckers out of the Democrat party in 1968 and Nixon sucked them into the GOP with the Southern Strategy directed by Lee Atwater, Roger Ailes' mentor on the “nigger, nigger, nigger” communication strategy at FOX News. and Pat Buchanan, the source of the George Lincoln Rockwell American Nazi rhetoric Steve Bannon employed for Duck Ass Don's Inaugural Adress.
You remember: the one George W Bush observed “ Well, that was weird!”.
A vote for any Republican, male or female, on any ballot, anywhere in Ameriica or it's territories, is a vote for the distilled essence of the Ku Klux Klan legacy of American domestic terrorism.
In response to the question, the American body politic now breaks dowe between the 38% for the Ku Klux Klan and house niggers who will vote for Duck Ass Donnie and the 62% of the niggers and nigger lovers who won’t.
Being Duck Ass Donnie, a classic Bob Eweil bigot, will cost him the election.

What do you hate most about Donnie Duck Ass?
Trump is a morally repulsive person surrounded by unclean spirits and cosmic stupidity. Disgust and hate are not the same thing.
COMMENTARY:
Steve Bannon and the treason he is engaged in and the transnational criminal consortium he represents, which is committed to destabilizing constitutional authority, globally and installing the Free Market Fascism in the name of Public Choice that the Koch brothers and the Mercers have invested the last 46 years.
The “Public Choice” agenda behind Donnie Dumb Ass’s election is just a warmed over version of Jefferson Davis’s State’s Rights theory of property, labor and the means of production. Like Newt Gingrich and Mick Mulvaney, James Buchanan was engaged in impleting the project begun with the capture of Ft. Sumter and reversing the decision concluded at Appomattox Courthouse. .
Other than that, there is not much about Duck Ass Donnie I spend much time thinking about, if i can help it. He is a morally repulsive person surrounded by unclean spirits and cosmic stupidity. Disgust and hate are not the same thing.

Did America invade Iraq for oil?
COMMENTARY:
The short answer is “Yes”, uniquivocately.
Like the invasion of Panama, Operation Just Cause, which was conducted to give the GOP Deep State control of an off-shore banking system for moving Dark Money around, Cheney took the job of Vice President to manufacture a pretext for handing control of the Iraq oil patch to Houston big oil. The profits that Halliburton made from military service support, which amounted to billion$, was a pleasant surpise. I mean, not only was Cheney able to steal the oil from the Iraqi people, but he got the US government to implement his theft and to pay him for the privilege of commiting diplomatic larceny. The neo-cons came to town determined to invade Iraq and Bill Kristol and Robert Kagan provide the diplomatic theory to justify it, the Project for the New American Century.
The Project for the New America Century is the moral antithesis of the Marshall Plan and Sovereign Democracy.
The Marshall Plan was the moral component of the Kennan doctrine of containment which provided the leverage Gorbachev he needed to pull the plug on Soviet Marxism. The leading edge of The Marshall, plan which has been the leading edge of the League of Nations since 1947, is the Sovereign Democracy agenda that Putin and Dumb Ass Don, as the POTUS du jour, inherited from Nixon-Breznev Detente by way of Gorbachev and Yeltsin.
I have been engaged in what has become Sovereign Democracy since 1975. I went to Vietnam in 1970 as the leading edge of the League of Nations to give the POTUS du jour, who happend to be Nixon, the space and time he needed to accomplish Detente with the Breznev. From 1962 until 1975, Vietnam, as a battle in the larger Cold War, was conducted as a battle of attrition against the Soviet economy by proxy. Hanoi paid in blood for their victory, but the Kremlin paid in national treasure and they couldn’t afford it. By 1971, the Kremlin was basically bankrupt and the folly of Marxism apparent to the executives I was doing business with. In the broadest sense, Sovereign Democracy was an agreement between the US President du jour and the Russian President du jour to explore the means and methods to begin the transition of Soviet Marxism to something like the Free Enterprise Marxism currently being employed by Vietnam and/or the Free Market Marxism of China.
In 1975, I, personally, wasn’t thinking in those terms. I was engaged in tryng to create Plan B after abandoning a military career and my abiding vision was to become filthy rich as the next Armand Hammer and marry by college sweetheart and live happily ever after anywhere she wanted to live in the Top 10% lifestyle. The idea that the Soviet Union would cease to exist never entered my mind and, if fact, it was more important, in terms of MAD and nukes, that the Soviet Union become an economically healthy culture. The business venture I was engaged in was an element of the Marshall Plan, but somewhat covert to the extent that nobody talked about it in those terms.
The thing is, the battle of attrition against the Soviet economy had worked better than advertised because, in addition to the general economic impotence of Marxism, generally, Stalin had refused to allow the Marshall Plan to pollute the ideological purety of the post-bellum Soviet State. It is impossible to overstate the belief of Marxists from the Stalinist era’s belief in Marxism.
But, in 1975, they needed hard currency just to keep going, The eurodollar was circulating pretty freely in the black markets of the Soviet Union and “blat”, a cultural artifact of the Czarist cultures, was the only thing in the Soviet economy keeping it going. And our project was one way to begin a small revenue stream of hard currency that we, the America side of the deal, proposed to take public on the NYSE, which was how I was going to become filthy rich like Elon Musk. So, they sold us what amounted the patent on the YaK-40, on credit, which, in the fulness of time, would begin to underwrite the pensions for the workers at Yakolev Aerospace.
And that is an example of how Sovereign Democracy is conceived to work. A better example of a Sovereign as a working relationship is the ROK-Army/K-MAG relationship. The ROK Army is getting constant updates on the reforms in the US Army that were initiated by General Marshall as the Army Chief of Staff in 1942 and these reforms are constantly radiating out of the ROK military community and into the civilian society of the Republic of Korea. The US Army has been engaged in Sovereign Democracy in Korea since 1954 and, through the Marshall Plan, since 1947.
Until 1962, when the commie cocksuckers in Hanoi began to implement their version of “regime change” by invading RVN, Sovereign Democracy was the mission of MAG-V in the emerging Republic of Vietnam, the same as K-MAG in ROK. If the Diem brothers hadn’t been assassinated, a different fate may have confronted RVN, but, when they were killed so that the US Army could run the war without the constraints of Sovereign Democracy, we couldn’t win a negotiated peace and it became the battle of attrition that bled the Soviet Union white.
In the final analysis, Vietnam came down to a contest between Marxism and the Harvard Business model and Marxism won. America lost, fair and square, but Vietnam was, for the Soviet Union, a battle they couldn’t afford to fight and and battle they couldn’t afford to lose. Because of Vietnam, the Soviet Union is no more. And the commie cocksuckers put on a practical demonstration of “regime change” perfectly reflected in Bill Kristol’s and Robert Kagan’s Project for the New America century.
And we were in both Korea and Vietnam to defend America’s strategic interests in the Persian Gulf oil patch, including the Iraqi oil fields Cheney delivered to the Houston big oil/Dark Money elements of the GOP Deep State, thereby validating his compensation as a rain maker as CEO of Haliburton.
So, yes, we invaded Iraq for the oil. If 911 hadn’t happened, Richard “Dick” Cheney, America’s favorite war criminal, would have invented some pretext for invading Iraq and “regime change” for spreading democracy is the same fig leaf John Bolton and Mike Pompeo are draping over their mutual arousal over starting a war with Iran.

How should the U.S. have handled Communist aggression in Vietnam?
COMMENTARY:
You really don’t know shit about much of anything, do you, Mike Page.
Both Korea and Vietnam sit on the trade routes from the oil in the Persian Gulf to Japan and Taiwan, for one thing, and that oil was the reason for our presence on the Pacific Rim and, in no small measure, a factor in Japan’s vision of their Great Co-Prosperity Sphere that compelled the decision to attack Pearl Harbor.
You’ve presented the SDS version of the Oliver Stone version of Vietnam. The actual version is presented, below.
From 1954 until 1962, the MAG-V mission in the Republic of Vietnam was essentially the same as the K-MAG mission in the Republic of Korea: peace keeping and nation building, Both nations were the result of a negotiated partition and, in the case of the Korean Penisula, a cease fire that persists. This was part of George Kennan’s theory of containment and reflected Marshall’s manifesto delivered at Harvard in 1947. The efficacy of this mission can be measured by the present success of the Republic of Korea, and the continuing K-MAG mission.
In 1962, the commie cocksuckers in Hanoi determined to invade RVN and signaled their intent to that end by tossing frags into Saigon movie theaters. I had friends, other Army brats, living in Saigon at the time, and MAG-V evacuated all the dependents in 24 hours in order to clear the deck for general combat and to avoid a reprise of the Phillipines.
After the assassination of the Diem brothers in 1963, America lost the moral legitimacy of its nation building mission and made it impossible to “win” the battle MAG-V was transformed into MAC-V with the mission to conduct a battle of attrition against the Soviet economy by proxy, the subsequent enterprse being a battle in the larger Cold War.
To this end, General Westmoreland was essentially assigned the task of creating the blood sacrifice of the commie cocksuckers on the field of battle that would compel the Kremlin to continue to commit the material support to their ideological clients that would ultimately bankrupt the Soviet economy, which had not begun to fully recover from WWII.
In the final analysis, Vietnam became a contest between Marxism and the Harvard Business model and Marxism won, but, in the larger context, Vietnam was for the Kremlim what Borodino was for Napoleon: a battle they couldn’t afford to fight and a battle they couldn’t afford to lose.
As a direct result of the American War in Vietnam, the Soviet Union is no more. The fact of the matter is, the Domino Theory did, in fact, manifest, regionally, but was contained by what amounted to entropy.
Now, in reference to my commentary on your ROTC essay (Tom Wilson's answer to What flaws in the ROTC program need to be addressed?) the mistake that the “Nut Heads” in the Pentagon that aligned with McNamara’s agenda made was to NOT proceed at the same time as the “Search and Destroy” element of the post-Diem brothers strategy with the other two legs of a Clauswitzian solution, that is, to equip the RVN military prodigously and to begin the process of “Vietnamization” on pretty much the same model as the ROK Army that served with such distinction in RVN.
As far as providing aid to all of Vietnam, it’s useful to remember that 1954 was the year of the McCarthy Hearings and people were losing their careers for any hint of political intercourse with commie cocksuckers anywhere in the world and Ho Chi Minh was a commie cocksucker who had just supervised the defeat of the French at Dien Bien Phu. The long haired anti-war hippy freaks of the SDS, and Noam Chomsky, might have found the prospect of providing economic aid to ALL OF VIETNAM appealing, but, well, in 1954, General Ridgeway wasn’t as sanguine of the prospect of success nor inclined to propose the project in the first place.
Just for the record, my self-esteem is perfectly secure. I’ve been dealing with lifers like you since I got off the Freedom Bird in 1971. Just the idea of being around lifers like you makes my skin crawl, but it’s not an impediment to my happiness and personal fulfillment.

The Army is rolling out its new Greens uniform in an upcoming pilot test with 200 recruiters.
COMMENTARY:
The reason why they retired the Pinks and Greens in 1957 was because every filing station in America had someone pumping gas in an Eisenhower Jacket.
That was the year before the Sergeant Major of the Army was inaugurated.
The polarization in America won't be fixed by a costume change in the military any more than a military parade down Constitution Avenue on the 4th by a bloated draft dodger honors the military.

What flaws in the ROTC program need to be addressed?
COMMENTARY:
I have deleted a series of responses to Mike Page’s response to his own question.
I never disagree with his ahrgument, per se, especially as far as the advantages his proposal of 2 summer camps are concerned instead of the 4 year program I went through as a liberal arts student majoring in letters and process theology.
The process theology I was getting from RTOC, you dumb fuck. Nothing personal, of course.
The 2 summer camp program he proposes is more fun. I loved summer camp. My only problem was that I had to finish my senior year and my summer camp happened just before the 1968 Democrat Convention which resulted in the police riot the SDS had been designed to create with the 1962 Porort Huron Statement.
Cause and effect. The cause was the Trotsky Insurgence process embedded in the political strategy of the anti-war people. The Trosky Insurgency process is designed to employ sedition and subversion to create the social alienation and polarization that leads to sabotage and violent revolution. The sabotage didn’t really kick in until after Kent State, but the subversion really got traction after Tet ’68 and the SDS began to develop cells recruited to infiltrate the military and professions as active agents in the overthrow of the US government.
I was a Junior at Indiana when Tet hit the campuses. I re a uniform three times a week, looking as strac as I knew how to. I had been on a drill team as a Persishing Rifle and had my dad’s example of what a lifer’s uniform is suppose to look like on the job. I was as squared=away as I could be without having mom come behind me and complete the picture.
I knew Tet was coming. I grew up around headquarters and I was as plugged into the Post Rumor Control as the CG of CONARC. I wasn’t spying: it was osmosis. I got back to campus and everything was hunky-dory, the New Hampshire primaries came off as usual and the gates had open on the run for the white House and, at that moment, not-LBJ was not even a Dark Horse.
1967 was the Summer of Love in a “if you’re going to San Francisco…” flowers in the hair kind of way and Sergeant Pepper had just come out and John McCain had just been shot down. Tet was just about to jump off the Tallihatchie Bridge with Billy Joe McAllister, but Christmas was like the German side in Stalingrad 1942: there was a certain magical thinking that maybe it all had a happy ending if we all just clapped for Tink,
Tet was not the cause of the Chicago Police Riots in 1968, the Port Huron Statement was the cause, if you have any useful acquaintance with process theology, that should be evident to you without too much deliberation, Tet was the seed crystal that set off what amounted a socially supersaturated solution, or critical mass, that had been carefully groomed by the anti-war movement to blow up somewhere, sometime. It only took 6 years to achieve that moment and if the Diem brothers hadn’t been assassinated, the Port Huron Statement would have never gotten any traction.
I watched this stuff happen during a 4 year liberal arts education I was required to attend in order to receive an ROTC commission. ROTC is a direct result of the ideal and the intent of the 2nd Amendment, that is, to ensure for the manpower and mobilization requirements of the federal mandate for the common defense in the original intent of the Founding Fathers that the American Republic would be sustained by citizen-soldiers in the Swiss-Israeli tradition. The 2nd Amendment doesn’t have shit to do with guns: it is entirely a mechanism to supply the worker-patriots to carry the guns. The Civil wWar, on both sides, and First and Second Phases of the World at War was fought by the America citizen soldier, thanks to the 2nd Amendment. My dad got his commision at Indiana. I got mine the same way. We spent 4 years in classroom engagement in the process theology of the military arts and sciences, but the most fun was the practical application of FM 22–5, twice a week.
Just for the record, FM 22–5 comes almost directly from Frederick the Great by way of von Steubin and prior to Jomini. US Army doctrine originates in Prussian staff experience, but is embellished by the French example at Yorktown and the focus on Jomini at the exclusion of Clauswitz until Marshall’s reforms beginning in 1942 and proceeding way beyond any need to reexamine the efficacy of the 4 years ROTC program. It’s not West Point. It’s not intended to be West Point. Or OCS. Or the two-summer camp ROTC program. It is, however, the same intellectual trajectory and learning curve as West Point and that trajectory, combined with the experiential data that has accumulated with the liberal arts program, ensures that the collective unconscious of the US Army is being constantly enriched by the broadest possible universe of high shooling for the dressage of the republican citizen soldier.
Here’s the thing, Mike Page, my impression of you is similar to my impression of Richard Carrier, the evangelical anti-theist and John Bolton and Dumb Ass Don: you’ve never heard a shot fired in anger.
I know you were in the combat arms, but your original profile said you went to Germany instead of Vietnam. You now cite Asia, which means you could have earned a CIB on the DMZ, but you were pretty emphatic that you never got to Vietnam.
Poor you. I wouldn’t have missed Vietnam for the world, and being in GermanY during Vietnam was like a certain kind of Purgatory for someone who had signyd up for a life of derring-do and danger, but we all served the needs of the service, so that’s like Eisenhower, who never go overseas in Phase I.
Vietnam wasn’t a great war, but it was the only war we had.
The other thing I sense in you, Mike Page, is the resentment of an OCS officer without a college degree, going through, for the country-club commission I earned over 4 years and a summer camp. If you are serious about producing the best possible officer to lead soldiers against fire, you should know that everything that happened before you got that rank don’t mean nothing once you get it: how you got there ain’t important. It’s that you showed up and stuck around is all the military requires to begin the process of becoming all you can be.
See, here’s the thing, Mike Page: growing up in the Army, all the chaplains I knew had been combat veterans until I left the Army in 1971. Generally, I’ve done what I can to avoid the military since I left: the prospect of spending time with some lifer like you just makes my skin crawl, even if they have been shot at. But you and Bolton and Richard Carrier share an attitude I never encountered among the chaplains I have known. I saw the same thing being directed at John Kerry by the Swift Boaters and it was an attitude I ran into in the corporate culture from Vietnam-era National Guard pukes, who resented the fact that they had to keep their hair short during a time when getting laid and short hair were not the norm and they blamed Viet vets for their decision to pursue their business careers and not be labeled a long-haired, dope-smoking, anti-war hippy freak in a culture of pro-war business executives. It’s like the military officers who conceived and implemented the All Volunteer Military: they blamed the draftee-citizen solder for the way Vietnam turned out and that it was actually their idea in the first place.
So, if this idea of reforming ROTC represents a big career move for you, my advice to the rest of the world is to ignore it.
There were two coalitions in the Army senior officers during the McNamara tenure in the Pentagon: those who were committed to Marshall’s reforms and what my dad called “Nut Heads”, that is, political opportunists who abandoned the needs of the service in favor of their own ambitions and aligned with the McNamara Whiz Kids and his reforms based on the Harvard management model. These guys were in charge when Tet blew up in LBJ’s face and he dropped out of the race. From 1968 until I got back from Vietnam, these guys were like a Marx brothers meet the 3 Stooges, running around, trying to avoid becoming collateral damage. One of these guys scared me out of a military career in Vietnam, someone with the same crypto-Nazi cognitive organization as Mike Pompeo, Mike Espry and Tom Cotton.
And you. In response to your last reponse in our dialogue, to wit,
>>>Mike Page: “If you had an idea, Tom, it would overwhelm that single brain cell you were born with,….”<<<
You are a retrograde pre-Tet ’68 Nut Head. And the All Volunteer Military seems to be just totally stuffed you guys.
