CHIKMAGALUR - A PLACE TO EXPLORE NATURE.

A short travel blog to Chikmagalur. I would suggest if u had a plan to visit, you should be visiting this place during mid August to November -the monsoon… The light drizzling and a trek through the fog, you’ll be loving the experience. It was a family trip, we a group of 15 were on the trip. The place Chikmagalur is around 400 kms [approx.] from Ambur. We hired a traveller, in which we started our trip. DAY – 1 : we started our journey at 4 am, I was excited and I didn’t fall asleep that night. It was around 1pm we reached Chikmagalur, you could feel the change of pleasant climate on the way to Chikmagalur for sure. It was slightly drizzling when we reached the place. So, at 2pm we checked in to home stay which was a wood house themed stay in. At 3pm we had our lunch. It was drizzling then. We then headed to Mullayanagiri. The elevation is 6500 feet above sea level. Since it was drizzling, the fog was thick, and it was barely visible. The coolness of raindrops hitting my face, is a whole other experience. After that, we returned to our homestay. We had our dinner and went to bed.

DAY – 2 Too much adventure in one day. In the morning , after breakfast, we started towards Kalhattigiri falls or the Kalhatti falls.The kalhatti falls was amusing, the water flows down the hill and passes through veerabhadreshwar temple. Then our journey headed to Hebba falls. You are not allowed to take a private vehicle inside the estate . So there are jeeps which you could hire. We boarded the jeep. We got down from the jeep and started walking towards the waterfall. We walked for about 500mts in the coffee estate,the leaches are the big struggle on the to Henna, then we crossed a river, and I’m sure that it’ll be exciting, but should be very careful. In 10-15 mins after crossing the river, we were started of hearing the water flowing sound from the top. The view of Hebba will steal your heart for sure. After that We drove towards Kemmangundi – a 4-5 kms drive from Hebbe . Kemmangundi is a hill station is well known place for trekking. So at the foot of the hills and we began our short trek. The monsoons add magic to hills . As we started walking along the trail up the hills, We trekked for about an hour and reached atop the hill – the Z point. The scene was just amazing!! The fog covered the entire like a white blanket. The view was gorgeous! After having spent some quality time up there, we trekked downhill and drove towards our homestay.

DAY – 3 Packed our bags and started our journey back. On the way we stopped Belur Channakeshava temple. There you will witness one of the finest architecture marvels of 12th century A.D . The world famous Channakeshava temple and the carvings on the walls – each have a story to tell. The UNESCO world heritage site must be visited definitely. After witnessing the architecture marvel we headed our journey back towards our home town.
