i've seen a few people theorize that redcanary is this universe's jonah magnus host because of the whole "canaries should stay above ground" thing and the objectively funny thing about this theory is that it implies that jonah magnus knows how to post. it implies he logged into redcanary's account post-possession (unless they were already logged in), took an image of their torn out eyes, managed to upload that image into the right thread, captioned it, and then posted it.
he might be 200 years old but by god my girl knows how to blog!!!

the open internet format episodes are my favourite so far. there's just something so unsettling about getting only bits and pieces of information. rather than a full conversation where the person tells someone everything that happened, we just get quick posts, brief follow-ups, sometimes typed in a hurry.
and then there are the deleted pictures and posts. the knowledge that there was something there but you can no longer access it. the crucial information and evidence that has been destroyed.
what did redcanary actually do to their eyes?
what did tom actually see in the movie? what happened to them after the screening?
it provokes our curiosity and leaves so much room for the imagination, for our brains to conjure up the most terrifying possibilities.

Seen lots of people talk about the red canary statement which yes it’s very cool I love it and is an opposite to the anglerfish. But I feel like people are sleeping on the one before that and it’s importance
It was the first we heard of the cases speaking, the first we hear of any kind of monsters and I feel like it will come back later the same way the coffin or the not!them did in the way of it reading like a one off spooky story then BOOM foreshadowing.
Like there has to be a reason why it’s the first case we hear other than Martin losing the person he cared about.

I've been wondering, in ep1 Chester's incident report about the magnus institute is basically a giant DANGER. KEEP OUT. (you will DIE) sign
And then in ep9 Sam actually wants to follow that advice (albeit more out of a lack leads) and chester immediately and without prompting goes NONONO actually here is something super interesting maybe a bit horrifying about the institute don't you wanna find out more?
It just feels like a bit like mixed messaging and I'm just wondering about Chester's state of mind

Me after tmagp 1-4: yeah I love the theory that the cases relate and hint to the voices that read them but it’s certainly nothing concrete and too early to say that’s the pattern for sure
Tmagp 5: Chester is reading a case about a guy who was roped into horror from a young age and has become almost dependent on horror stories. This, combined with his fatal flaw of morbid curiosity, led him to fall prey to something called “voyeur” that knew impossible invasive things about him and his past. Oh, what happened to him? Well he became another goddamn mystery, why do you ask?
