when you get this you have to answer with 5 of ur fav songs and then tag your mutuals to do the same :) (no pressure <;3)
Tagged by @twig-tea, thank you for this chance to talk about bangers!!
Hoshino Gen - Hikari no ato
youtube
Hoshino Gen you've done it again. :( I was actually a big fan of his even before he got super popular in the mainstream because he is really good at writing about big things in a simple way. In 2011 I was like please you need to listen to Hoshino Gen to everyone. He's come so far!!
The title means traces of light.
Tokyo jihen - Ryokushu
youtube
If Shiina Ringo were an American or a British person, she'd be in so many rock'n'roll hall of fames no doubt!!! What a woman (platonic sentiment). What a woman (homosexual sentiment.) This is a song for the current generations and the flow of the lyrics is fittingly intoxicating because the title means good sake.
Ellinoora - Minä elän
youtube
If you've never heard of how finnish language sounds like, here is a song haha. I'm not a frequent Ellinoora listener but this is a really nice pop song about empowerment!
The title means I live.
Sakanaction - Sorato (flash warning for the video!)
youtube
Sakanaction is back!! Screaming crying throwing up. They were gone for many years because the front-man struggled with depression and cluster headache. This isn't a new song but I've been listening to them a lot to get ready for the comeback. This song is mostly instrumental so I can have it on repeat for hours tbh especially if I'm in my hyper-focus mode.
Sakanaction is definitely coolest band in Japan. I think they could be big internationally if they were from the anglosphere. I mean look at these legends:
Tumblr media
Btw Sora isn't on Spotify but this version of it is (no flash warning). I actually like this one better but wanted to include Sorato for the video alone haha.
youtube
ปราง ปรางทิพย์ - ภวังค์จิต
Praang Praangthip - Phawangjit
youtube
This is a Thai folk artist who makes interesting covers of Thai pop songs. She was one of the things that originally got me into Thai language. She's super talented and I adore her for continuing to do her own thing when so much of today's popular music is so calculated and unoriginal.
Bonus round - three of my all-time favourite songs
Petri Möller - Lupasit kaiken muun
youtube
This is such a niche song it has less than 400 plays on youtube. I feel like no one knows it but my family lol. It's a song from my childhood and as an adult I appreciate it even more because it's such a beautiful portrayal of a loved one struggling with grief or mental illness.
I love these lyrics so much: varjoissa viihdyit mutta pelkäsit niitä / uskoit niiden kasvavan aina vain ylöspäin / pihalla lapsesi kasvoivat kilpaa / sinä viivyit sisällä ja katselit pimeää / toistelit sanoja oikeinpäin väärinpäin / muistelit asioita jotka saavat hymyilemään / ihmisistä pidit mutta pelkäsit niitä / joku sanoi näkemiin ja sinä menit maate. Translation: you liked being in the shadows but were afraid of them / you feared they'd grow taller and taller / outside your children were racing to grow up / you stayed inside and watched the dark / you repeated words forwards and backwards / you recalled things that made you smile / you liked people but were afraid of them / someone said goodbye and you went to bed.
The title means you promised everything else.
Quruli - Kiseki
youtube
Saa koko e oide yo / nanimo nai keredo / dokoedemo yukeru yo / sukoshi mimogaeru kurai. Come here / there's nothing / but we can go anywhere / so far it makes you tremble. This is my favourite band. The way this song grows is mind-blowing. The last three minutes kill me every time. I'm so tired of 2-minute trap tracks for tiktok, bring back the instruments.
The title means miracle.
John Cale & Brian Eno - Spinning Away
youtube
This has been my favourite song for over 20 years. It's a play it on my deathbed, play it at my funeral type of song. It's just the best song. Some kind of change, some kind of spinning away.
Well that got quite long haha. Thank you for reading!

Despite being your local friendly Christian boygirl, I haven't personally observed Lent before. This year I thought I would make a plan and observe in a way that would feel natural and important to me. I think telling people about your plans almost always helps you stick to them, so here's what I'm doing for Lent (feel free to be inspired, whether you are doing Lent or not):
I will pray when I put anything in my mouth, whether it's a piece of chocolate or a full meal. I will thank God for the food, for the people that brought the food to me and everyone involved in it's production.
I will take a break from some forms of social media. I will delete Twitter and TikTok from my phone and stay away from all scrollable algorythm-based tiktok-ish content. I only need the videos my friends and tumblr mutuals hand-pick for me. I will also not doomscroll, hatescroll or watch youtube channels that raise my blood pressure.
I will follow this lent calendar (the calendar is in Finnish).
The classic – read a verse every day.
I will go outside every day and thank God for everything around me.

i hate how hoarder clean ups became a trend among in that 'weird but satisfying videos' niche!!! all people see is pilies of trash and maybe the person cleaning tells them 'don't be mean they have depression' but it's more like 'look at me i'm soooo nice doing this for free! i love dirt!'. hoarding is very misunderstood, hardly ever talked about beyond 'gross people who live in trash'. hoarding disorder is in dsm!!! it's a serious thing!!! it pains me too see how those content creators are freely exploiting people who need professional help beyond just cleaning. there was this korean youtube channel cleaning avengers that actually did interviews with people they helped with cleaning, how there was always some sort of trauma involved. and in the end the guys running that channel got burnt out. also it's wild scrub daddy sponsors like all of the big tiktok accounts who make this type of content? like that popular finnish lady who cleans mold without any protection 🤢

The notion of building fences along portions of Finland's long border with Russia seems to have wide support, but Helsingin Sanomat reports that's not the case.
One of the few who are highly critical about the plans is researcher Jussi Laine from the Karelian Institute, according to the paper (siirryt toiseen palveluun).
Border fences and walls are expensive and they do not serve the purpose for which they are built, Laine noted. According to the researcher, if there is a will to cross it, people will figure out a way.
"People will get past the fences no matter the method," Laine tells HS, adding that those determined to cross will only find more dangerous methods and fall into the hands of smugglers and traffickers.
Therefore, building barriers could endanger people's lives and end up supporting organised crime, according to Laine.
"I'm not saying that Finland's border fence is completely useless, but I consider the disadvantages to be significantly greater than the benefits claimed," he says.
Stubb: Mistakes were made while PM
Former Prime Minister Alexander Stubb published a YouTube video in which he reflects on Finland's post-Cold war failures regarding Russia, tabloid Ilta-Sanomat (siirryt toiseen palveluun) writes.
In the video, the veteran politician admits he made four such mistakes while in office.
"I was wrong about visa freedom for Russians, Nord Stream, Rosatom, and about not being able to promote Finland's Nato membership as Prime Minister," Stubb says in the video.
Visa freedom did not genuinely improve Russo-Finnish relations and Nord Stream should never have been built, according to the former PM. He also adds that more could have been done to enhance Finland's nuclear energy sector. However, not advancing Nato membership while in office is perhaps one of Stubb's biggest regrets, the paper explains.
The longtime National Coalition Party politician Stubb served in multiple offices throughout his career including as Foreign Affairs Minister in 2008–2011 and Prime Minister in 2014–2015. He also served as Minister of Foreign Trade and Europe in 2011–2014 and member of the European Parliament 2004–2008.
"In politics, it is very difficult to admit your mistakes, because mistakes are not allowed. Still, many politicians, myself included, make mistakes," Stubb says.
Outstanding Young Person of the Year
The Junior Chamber International in Finland nominated Social media cleaning sensation Auri Kananen as one of this year's Outstanding Young Person of the Year title, Tampere-based Aamulehti (siirryt toiseen palveluun)reports.
This places her and two others in the broader international programme, Ten Outstanding Young Persons of the World (TOYP), which recognises young people who excel in their chosen fields or represent the best attributes of the world's young people.
Kananen has drawn a huge international following with cleaning videos she posts on the social media platform TikTok. The 28-year-old began cleaning people's homes for free while filming the process, a couple of years ago.
"Everything happened by accident. A couple of years ago, I started posting my own cleaning videos on Tiktok. Through that, I was contacted by a single parent of three children whose husband had committed suicide. She asked for help. Then, one weekend, I went to clean her house and uploaded a video on the subject to Facebook, where I told her story. The video got 13 million views," the social media star explains.
The 'queen of cleaning' has raised awareness about mental health as well as inspired appreciation for cleaners' work, which landed her the nomination, according to the paper.

still pisses me off that there’s this finnish woman (aurikatariina) who got famous for doing free deep cleanings and filming it for tiktok/youtube and she has now published a book and even has her own reality show and people won’t stop praising her for how kind she is
but i completely lost respect for her when some months ago she published two videos of the same house, where she had been asked to clean by the tenant several times until finally agreeing. and she got suspicious of the tenant (because their story had changed a bit with each email) and she had contacted the landlord?? and took the landlord to see the house (against the tenant’s wishes)
and the whole other video was aurikatariina berating the tenant and letting the landlord tell her sad little story about how her husband built this house for them but she had to move out after he died and it’s so horrible that this tenant, who just sat on the porch drinking coffee while everyone else cleaned, had let it get so dirty :/
and people were literally tearing this tenant apart in the yt comments, zero sympathy just because the landlord got to tell everyone her side of the story. like i’m 100% sure if the landlords of the homes in previous videos knew how their property looked like they’d also concoct some sad story and be extremely mad. but previously aurikatariina and her viewers always sympathized with the people whose apartments had gotten super dirty due to whatever reason
but the second people hear the landlord’s side then it’s horrible that some lazy, dirty, stupid poor person could let someone else’s property get dirty like that! and wow, the tenant didn’t even rush to help to clean after the landlord came over and yelled at the tenant and cried about how her house had been ruined, i’m sure it was out of laziness and not shock/shame/sadness
“i clean people’s houses because i understand mental illness or disability can make it impossible to clean and we shouldn’t shame people whose houses get dirty <3” -> call the landlord the second you think someone isn’t virtuous enough to receive your help while you share their sad life story so viewers sympathize with them

you can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to. put your favourite playlist on shuffle and list the first ten songs then tag ten people — no skipping!
thanks for tagging me @gothmoneyswag! i’d love to share
i decided to use last.fm because my biggest playlist right now is only like 150 songs and i dont think thats large enough
i wanted to leave a comment with each song too but thats optional if you want to do this too
1) Hackle - 1 Trillion Bars
my favorite drill song at the moment. hackle is the only HM member whose music i can say i love, i don’t hate turnagoat but hackle just has a vibe i cant really explain. recommended to sosa enjoyers and people who kinda like HM but haven’t really gotten into it.
2) chase plato - SET YOU FREE
found out a funny guy on tiktok made music and gave him a shot and it was really good. i love the final fantasy sample and chase’s vocals are really good. also follow him on tiktok @ chaseplato he is very funny
3) Oli XL feat. Ecco2k - Hesitate
song makes me feel like i’m the coolest mf to walk this earth. if my life was a movie, this would definitely make the soundtrack
4) Alex G - Bobby
a heartwarming and very bisexual love song. i have listened to this song only once or twice before making this list and i’m happy to come across it again.
5) BCNR - Good Will Hunting
this song is amazing. objectively fucking brilliant. but i (thankfully) very rarely get in the mood to listen to BCNR.
6) Parannoul - Imagination
i wish i fucking understood korean i feel like i’m missing out because sonically this is really cool. everyone should try this album. i like the new slowthai album better but it’s second for my album of the year right now.
7) Bladee - D-925
it has a few classic bladee lines, but overall it’s one of bladee’s weaker songs. maybe there’ll be another bladee song on this list, but i’ll be disappointed if this is the only one i get to talk about.
8) yeule - Reverle
i fucking love everything about yeule. love love love love love yeule. listen to serotonin 2 and glitch princess or i will kill you.
9) Ecco2k - Peroxide
i mean....... e is a perfect album and this is the most popular song off it. it’s not my favorite, but it is the most accessible, and got me into ecco. this is the first song i recommend to most people who ask for music recs and arent drainers. if you discover 1 new song through this list, let it be this one.
10) MELO - Varovasti
i’m so happy a finnish song popped up here!!! it’s kinda like if brakence was good at making music. it would be pretty basic if it was in english, but very few people are actually making music that sounds like this in finnish, so he’s kind of doing a new thing here. if you don’t know how finnish sounds, i would recommend this just based on that. it’s a pretty language.
i’m supposed to stop here, but i hate rules and i like having fun so i’m gonna keep going
11) Manu Chao - Me gustas tú
another non-english song, and another song i discovered on tiktok. takes me to my happy place. love the song. i feel like it’s set in a post capitalist world where a person is truly free to do what they want and it’s beautiful to be there for a moment.
12) Varg2TM feat. Bladee - SHINIE
a quintessential bladee song in my opinion. Varg is the most underrated DG collaborator. the beat is fantastic, although far from varg’s best work. bladee pops off for a minute straight and the chorus is fantastic. it’s a travesty that there are no more varg + dg songs out there. they exist, varg has played them at shows but these fuckers just wont drop them.
13) Whitearmor and Gud - Frutta E Verdura
this shit makes me cry and it doesn’t even have lyrics. i cant describe it you just have to listen
14) Quadeca - Tell Me A Joke
as a hivemind enjoyer (subscibe on youtube), i’ve known for a while that there is more to quad than rapper impressions and disstracks. i couldn’t have imagined this album in my wildest dreams though. also fucking crazy that he said “what’s the deal with airline food” in the intro to a song about haunting his own childhood home and it doesn’t feel out of place
15) Varg2TM feat. Bladee - Perfect Violation
i swear to god i randomized this, but somehow the last song i’m doing is my favorite song of all time. I could straight up write an essay about it, and i will!
this is the most emotionally loaded song bladee has ever made. yes, more than deletee, more than destroy me. more than every single fucking song he has ever made. the beat is beauty in it’s purest form. every single word is painful. no one will ever capture the pain that stems from love like bladee did here. in a very drainy fashion, every line is nonsense at face value, but i still perfectly understood what the song was about from the first listen. the self hatred bladee feels because he can’t be good enough for the one he loves is so fucking visceral. i have cried to this song countless times. i’ve listened to this song seven hundred times since i first fell in love with it in october. i’ve listened to it around 5 times every day for 5 months and i’m not even close to bored. the best song i’ve ever heard.
There is also a remix that goes fucking stupid. google perfect violation empire line remix.
i’m still really new to this website so i straight up don’t know 10 people to tag so @honeyypunk @akajazy if you’re interested lmao

I once dreamt I was making Persona 3 Let's Play videos on YouTube, and would often make fun of Junpei in my narration. One time, I started the video with "Oh, won't you look at the time, it's time to ~bully JunPeEeEi~" in this singsongy voice. I said it again once in the middle of another video, as a fun reference for the people watching.
And it became a meme.
At first, it was just people sometimes commenting "it's time to bully ~Junpei~" in the videos where Junpei got owned or I sniped at him in a particularly clever or memorable way. But then it spread. Outside my channel, outside YouTube, outside the Persona fandom. Soon people were saying "it's time to bully Junpei" even with no knowledge of who Junpei was, or why or how he was bullied. "It's time to bully Junpei" was a common response to "what time is it". Any and every meme blank that had anything to do with time was sure to have a "time to bully Junpei" version. The audio clip was used on Tiktok and YouTube anime crack videos.
At some point I was talking with my mom, who is an elementary school teacher, and it came up that some children at her school were talking about "bullying this yoon-pay" (how you would pronounce Junpei in Finnish). And Mom had deduced from the context that this Yoonpay was not a real person but a fictional character, and that the phrase was some kind of a common running joke, but she was concerned kids could eventually use it as an excuse to actually bully someone.
And I just sat there like. Nodding along. Sweating. Screaming internally. The meme had spread outside internet. It was mainstream enough to be referenced in school playgrounds in another language. "Huh. So that's what the kids are doing these days. Uh-huh. Yeah I sure hope they don't take the joke too far." My parents raised me better than this. I couldn't tell them I started a joke about bullying someone by making mean comments on my very public gaming videos. I didn't want bullying Junpei to be my legacy.
