Return of the enemy(Ninjago fan season between season4 and 5 with Sensei G.)
Episode 1-The return
Episode 2-Surprises
Our heroes encounter many surprises on their way. Not all of them are very pleasant.
"What do you think, is Wu okay?" Misako asked Garmadon as they walked along the docks.
"I hope so," Garmadon sighed.
"And are you okay?" Misako gently asked him. "All this with Chen.."
"I'll survive," Garmadon snapped at her. "Now we just need to get rid of him once and for all."
"If that's possible," Misako muttered to herself.
They walked in silence for a long time.
"I'm sorry we're not going anywhere after all," Garmadon sighed.
"Me too," Misako agreed. "Where did you want to go?"
"That's a surprise," Garmadon smiled at her.
"Oh come on," Misako encouraged him. "You know I hate surprises."
"I know you don't hate them, you're just afraid you won't react well to them."
"You know me well," Misako smiled back, though deep down she was still worried.
It was a good way for both of them to get their minds off the situation.
"And psst!" She put a finger to her lips and pointed towards the docks. "Someone is there."
"Who..." Garmadon asked but then immediately recognized the face and voice.
"Oh, isn't that Sensei Garmadon," the voice taunted. "And surely that's Misako, nice to meet you."
"Clouse!" Garmadon hissed and started to move forward as if to attack, but Misako grabbed his hand.
"You? How? I will.."
"I don't think now is the time to throw threats, Garmadon," Clouse continued in a mocking tone. "You're not in a position to do so."
"And I also think that fighting is not the best solution right now," Misako said, pulling Garmadon's hand again.
"But..." he started, then stopped when he looked around.
They were surrounded by Chen's soldiers, there were at least a dozen of them, no, more than a dozen, three dozen?
"At least they're not Anacondrai anymore," Misako offered poor consolation.
~~~With the ninja:~~~
"We need to come up with a plan," Zane said when the ninjas stopped in front of the noodle house with their vehicles.
"I agree," Cole replied. "We shouldn't underestimate Kai if we fall into a trap with him."
"But we can't just leave him," Lloyd complained.
"No one said we would abandon him."Jay patted Lloyd on the shoulder.
"I know he's your best friend, he's family to all of us, but that doesn't change the fact that we need a plan."Cole insisted
"But Chen said we have to all go," Lloyd lamented.
"Maybe I have a plan," Jay smiled.
~~~With the Kai and Skylor:~~~
"What do you want from us, father?!"
Skylor yelled as she and Kai were forcefully dragged through secret hallways by soldiers.
"And what did you mean by saying we are useful?"
"Stop!" Chen raised his hand as they halted in front of the dungeons.
"This is your new residence, fear not, there is also space for your friends when they enter my castle."
"They're not that dumb!" Kai objected. "They'll find a way to deal with you." "
They may not be dumb, but they are loyal," Chen sighed, feigning sympathy. "And that's just as good as being dumb."
"You still haven't answered me, father," Sklor interjected. "What do you want from us?"
"If you want to steal all the elemental powers again, I'm afraid it won't be so easy for you this time," Kai sneered.
"Don't worry, this time I have completely different plans," Chen looked at them, for the first time appearing serious.
"No matter what is it, you will not succeed!" Skylor shouted at him.
"We'll see about that," Chen motioned to his soldiers to take Kai and Skylor to the dungeons.
~~~With the ninja:~~~~
"No, no, and no!" Lloyd shouted. "That is out of the question."
"I agree with Lloyd, we can't put innocent people in danger,"
Cole said, pulling out his weapon. "We will fight."
"I don't like it either, but my sensors tell me we have no choice," Zane sighed.
"We won't send just anyone, but someone with the necessary skills."
"But it's still too risky," Lloyd groaned. "What if something goes wrong..."
"That's what Kai would do," Jay entered the noodle house. "So the majority wins."
"No..." Cole and Lloyd shouted at the same time, but they couldn't respond Jay from going into the Noodle House.
"Who wants to go on a ninja mission?!"
Soon, a considerable number of people gathered around them.
"Everyone, calm down," Lloyd shouted, and everyone fell silent.
"It will be very dangerous and risky. Are you sure you want to do this?"
"Those who are sure and think they are capable, stand on my right side!" Jay shouted, and a few people stood on his right side, while the others dispersed.
"Hello, fellas!" Dareth stepped forward. "Going on another mission with the brown ninja?"
"Oh no," Cole groaned.
"People, you need to be aware of what's happening. We are fighting Chen."
Lloyd interrupted again. "He wants us all to come to the backyard of this building.Jay's plan is for you to pretend to be us until we find a way into Chen's tunnels."
"It will be very dangerous, can you handle it?" Cole added.
After a few mumbles, people dispersed, leaving only Dareth and one man in his thirties with a bandage on his forehead and black hair streaked with gray. He was tall and slender.
"So, the two of you go with Dareth... And sorry, who are you?" Lloyd asked.
"Sorry for not introducing myself earlier. I am Sangfugol. I usually play the harp somewhere else, but I have a mission here."
"What kind of mission and where are you from?" Jay asked, confused.
"And why are you telling us this now?" Zane inquired.
"Because it concerns all of you," Sangfugol looked at Lloyd. "But enough about that, I just want to say that I am a friend."
"Alright then, I suppose we continue with the plan," Lloyd, who seemed uncomfortable, said.
"Which two will go with Dareth and Sangfugol?"
"rock, paper, clamp?"Cole suggested.
"It's not like we have any other choice," Lloyd sighed.
"No!" Jay exclaimed. "I wanted to go!"
"So, it's Cole, Dareth, Sangolfun, and me," Lloyd repeated. "Zane and Cole, you stay behind and follow us later."
"Affirmative," Zane confirmed.
"Now, who will play whom?" Jay asked, looking at Sangolfun and Dareth.
"None of them really resemble any of us..."
~~~With Misako and Garmadon:~~~
"How did you know we would be here?" Garmadon angrily asked Clouse, who was smiling in front of them.
"Everything in due time, Garmadon. It is best for you to come with us," Clouse replied.
"Never," Garmadon said.
"I believe we don't really have a choice," Misako said, pointing to more soldiers disembarking from the ship.
"Oh yes, how could I forget to mention that?" Clouse gloated. "If you cause any trouble, she gets hurt, and vice versa. Now let my soldiers escort you to our ship."
"You'll get yours, you..." Garmadon pushed away a soldier who approached him. "I'd rather die than go into your captivity."
"Such a shame," Clouse sighed. "But like I said before, you won't die. Throw her into the sea."
"No!" Garmadon shouted, and the soldiers stopped trying to pull Misako away.
"Leave her alone, coward. This is between us."
"I'm afraid this is much more than just between us, Garmadon,"
Clouse began walking towards the ship, and Garmadon and Misako were finally allowed to be taken with them.
"Furthermore, I'm afraid your wife plays a significant role in all of this."
"Which one?" Misako asked.
"I'm afraid I can't speak of it just yet," Clouse pretended to sigh. "But I am certain that my master won't spare any words when I deliver you to him."
They let themselves be tied to a pole. Garmadon could no longer feel anger, all that was left was exhaustion.
He felt Misako testing how tightly their hands were tied on the other side.
At least she didn't give up.At least they were together, even though they couldn't see each other, he could at least feel her hand and hear her breathing.
He grabbed her hand and squeezed it before letting go again. More for his own comfort than hers.
She didn't know what kind of person Chen was.
"So, we're going to Chen," Misako said. "Great."
"You'll like it even less when you get there," Clouse gloated. "Especially your husband."
"You still haven't told us how you knew where to find us," Garmadon said indifferently. "And where is my brother?"
From his expression, they could conclude that Clouse failed to capture Wu. He didn't know he would be there. He only knew about them.
"Wu and the ninjas will come after you again," Misako told him just as indifferently.
"Not if your son and his friends stumble into a trap," Clouse replied.
"They'll figure it out," Garmadon responded.
"We'll see about that," Clouse's mood clearly improved. "And what about your samurai, isn't her name Mya?"
"Nya, you idiot," Garmadon told him.
"Oh, right, Nya, of course. Watch this now."
Misako and Garmadon gasped when they saw the image that appeared on the screen.
"No, I need..." Nya was speaking on the screen while talking to someone.
"How?" Misako asked in disbelief.
"I think I know," Garmadon said, recalling the empty box he received that morning.
"Anyway," Clouse interrupted the recording. "Soon our army will capture your precious little monastery and capture the samurai."
With those words, he left the room where Garmadon and Misako were standing.
"Quick!" Misako said when everyone left. "We won't be alone for long."
"You don't think we can escape, do you?" Garmadon asked in disbelief.
"No," Misako admitted. "But I think we can try to send a message to Nya to flee."
"How?"
"If we can hear her..."
"You mean she might somehow be able to hear us," Garmadon slowly began to understand.
"There must be a button..." Misako looked towards the panel.
"Maybe the one with something drawn on it?" Garmadon suggested.
"I think so, but how do I get to it?" Misako tried to free herself but without success.
"We need to throw something at it," she mumbled.
"Wait here," Garmadon said as he grabbed a nearby box with his feet.
"It's not like I'm going anywhere" Misako replied.
With a few swings, he managed to launch the box and hit the right button.
"You did it!" Misako exclaimed.
"Shh, Misako, be quiet," Garmadon said, unable to hide his smile.
"Nya, if you can hear us," Misako said, "run away from the monastery. Clouse has captured us, he's listening you."
"Go to Mystake's tea shop," Garmadon added.
"She..." he began, but stopped when he noticed someone approaching.
"What's going on here?" Clouse angrily asked, fortunately not appearing to know anything,but even they didn't know if it worked.
~~~With the Nya:~~~
"Where can I find them?" Nya talked to herself while trying to figure out a way to contact the other elemental masters.
She dialed a number, but before she could start speaking, someone interrupted her.
"This doesn't make sense." Angrily, she hung up the phone, but then heard some whispering.
"Misako?"
"....hear us," Misako said, "run away from the monastery. Clouse has captured us, he's listening to you."
"Go to Mystake's tea shop," Garmadon's voice said. "She..." he began, but stopped.
"What's going on here?" A voice. She assumed it was Clouse's.
She bent down a few times, trying to locate where the voice was coming from.
"There you are," she said and caught a mechanical spider.
"Now you're mine!" she said and turned it off. She didn't want to completely shut it down in case she might need it later.
After some hesitation, she turned the spider back on.
"Obviously, the best solution now is to go get the other ninjas," she said and turned off the spider again.
"Quickly," she told herself because she didn't know how long she would be alone.
She picked up some scrolls she had found earlier and considered them relevant to the situation.
She put on her samurai X suit and flew towards Mystake's tea shop.
"I'm here," she said and stepped inside uncertainly.
"Hello!" she shouted at the entrance. "I am Nya, and I..."
"Welcome, Nya, master of water," an older voice interrupted her. Mystake turned towards her.
"Master of what?"
"I was expecting..."
Mystake started but had to stop when she saw Nya faint.
Season 5 hurt me in ways I wasn't expecting.
I knew it was going to hurt, just not this much.
So, where does everyone stand? Well, it seems like there’s another ahead. And this one involves venturing across different realms.
Everyone seems to be coming into their own -- growing up, understanding who they are and who they want to be.
Except Cole. He's still a ghost. While I think he's accepted it, it's definitely not what he wants. I'm thinking at some point in the next season he gets cured.
I don't think anyone who was in the Cursed Realm will come back again. I really think they're gone for good.
I think Pixal is going to finally get a new body. She's spent 2 seasons in Zane's head already. It's time for her to get out. And become her own droid again.
I really don't have any sense of what the next season is going to be about, so I don't really have many predictions about it.
Below the cut are the predictions I got right and wrong.
Correct
The boys will find a way to either survive without their powers or find a way to restore them. They did manage to survive without them for most of the season.
Someone or multiple someones whose powers aren't connected to Lloyd will be very helpful in taking down Morro. And Nya comes in with the STEEL CHAIR!
Nya is going to struggle with her new powers, but they will be the key to taking Morro down. See above.
The boys will run in to Morro while they're at Stiix, and there will be a showdown.
The boys will have to escape whatever prison they're put in while they visit the Cloud Kingdom.
Ronin will do more to help the ninja. He really came thru for them in the end.
We will see Garmadon in the Cursed Realm. And Chen and Clouse.
Incorrect
The other Elemental Masters can help defeat Morro. Skylor was the only one who appeared, and she was only there for 5 minutes, tops to work at the restaurant.
Water doesn't work on ghosts who are possessing other people. Surprisingly, it's super effective.
Nya will go to Misako or Wu for advice on her powers. She went to Ronin to get her out of training with her new powers.
The Preeminent is trapped in the Cursed Realm. She was the Cursed Realm.
The ghoulfiends will abandon Morro after he didn't make it to the Cloud Kingdom. They stuck with him, and they eventually got there themselves.
Morro will eventually take completely over and no one will be able to get thru to Lloyd. Morro left Lloyd's body.
Skill Island. RIP Skull Island. You would have been a cool spot to hold the tomb of the First Spinjitzu Master.
Morro will beat them to the Realm Crystal. The boys got there first.
The Preeminent will not be defeated this season. She will be sent to another realm. WELL then.
Partially
Ronin told the boys who to go to in order to learn Airjitzu from. He sent them to Yang, however Yang gave them a scroll to learn Airjitzu from.
Enemies are waiting for the boys in Cloud Kingdom. There was Fenwick, but there was also Nobu and Nimbus.
Wu, Nya, and Ronin will interrogate Ghoultar and learn about the Preeminent. They did interrogate him, but they didn't learn about the Preeminent from him. And Ronin already knew.
Having Nya along for the journey to the First Spinjitzu Master's tomb. She was there, but she was above water and taking care of WU and Misako.
Unconfirmed
No one will be permenantly killed off this season. The main characters, no. Others? Unknown.
Something happened to Morro in the Cursed Realm. Unknown what happened to him.
OOOOOH BOY STRAP IN @coffeeisfortheresponsible
WALL OF TEXT BELOW THE CUT
The first thing I have to address is hor horribly Ninjago butchers the subject of adoption trauma. It's not handled well in the tow other places it's talked about, Skybound or Quest for the Lost Powers, but this post is already gonna be way too fucking long so we're not gonna talk about that.
According to Tommy Anderson, the original concept for Prime Empire had Jay's mother involved. She was going to be trapped in the game, and Jay's lightning power would be imperative to her survival, but it was ultimately scrapped. We don't see Jay reference the fact that he's adopted for this entire season--in fact, the last time he mentioned it was in Skybound (well, he also brought it up in Decoded while explaining the plot of Skybound) despite the fact that there has been ample opportunity to. He could have done it in Hands of Time when the previous generations of elemental masters was being discussed, or he could have brought it up when Harumi killed her adoptive parents in Sons of Garmadon, or literally any other time in the five seasons between Skybound and Prime Empire, but he doesn't. That's fine I guess, this is a show that rarely gets that deep. But then WHY bring it up at the end of Prime Empire, out of nowhere, especially in a way that makes it seem like we've witnessed Jay reflecting about his biological family at all?
To me, it kind of seems like it's because that was intended to be the emotional through-line of the season. Just like Master of the Mountain was about Cole coming to know his mother, Prime Empire seemed like it was meant to be about Jay coming to know his mother. Jay's "My parents abandoned me too but that's okay" line at the end felt like it was the ending to a different season, instead of the series of episodic side quests that was Prime Empire.
And on that note, the pacing is horrendous in this arc. Instead of going back and forth between the two groups, the one inside the game and the ones outside the game, it does this weird thing where it chunks it, spending several season with the 5 ninja and then cutting out to follow the Zane/Pixal/Wu story line for two full episodes.
(ON THAT NOTE, there is so much wasted potential for this season to have genuine themes. If not about Jay coming to terms with his adoption, then about the genuinely fascinating implications of a world where AI this advanced exists, but no, we just got Pixal being told that her feelings weren't real and she couldn't make connections like a human could and then it was resolved in ten minutes.)
I am Okino, as much as I love it, was an unnecessary episode. It would have been fantastic if we had time for it but these episodes are only 10 minutes long and there's only 16 and we DON'T HAVE TIME FOR IT. The league of Jay was really thrown in for half an episode and then was never elevant again. Lloyd, Cole, Nya, and Kai are all useless when they first enter the game and yet in the shorts Jay still gets to keep all his ninja skills. There's so many just random little things in this arc and it just. What.
THERE'S SO MANY RANDOM LITTLE THINGS IN THIS ARC AND I LOVE IT!!!
Dance Episode! Noir Episode! A gazillion side characters! Random Harumi fight!! It's SO GOOD!
It introduces way to many chaaracters, but it gets you to care about them in a way that Ninjago usually doesn't with it's side characters. I care about Okino! I care about Racer Seven! I care about Milton Dyre! Ninjago is a show with too many characters but in Prime Empire that doesn't take bother me as much because I LIKE them all.
With the way it's so episodic it honestly feels like watching Legacy of the Green Ninja. Dance episode! Race episode! Noir episode (will die mad that Ninjago Confidential wasn't called Nindroid Noir)! Side quest side quest side quest! After the heaviness of the Oni Trilogy and the second half of The Secrets of Forbidden Spinjitzu, it was just so refreshing to watch a season that was so fun.
And Prime Empire is GORGEOUS. The aesthetic of it was a little different than Ninjago's usual and it really worked, the animation was fantastic, the color palet was great, the lighting was just. Chef's kiss.
And the score of Prime Empire is genuinely the best score of any season of Ninjago and I will not be taking arguments. You are simply wrong. The music of Prime Empire is so FUN.
I guess that's kind of the thesis of this whole rant. Prime Empire may not have the strongest plot but it's the most fun to watch of all the recent Ninjago seasons-- of all the Ninjago seasons, in my opinion, and that's why it's my favorite one.
Random thought but when I was rewatching season 6, I just realized that it actually shows that Lloyd knows how to pick locks. When they were arrested he breaks them out of the hole by picking his lock with a fork. So have this oneshot...
Picking Locks
They think they can make fun of him, he is Lloyd Garmadon for heaven's sake. He is so fed up with them not calling him evil. So if everyone says he not evil well hes gonna show them how wrong they are.
He needs a plan something big. Pranks won't work thats to basic. He could try get good grades, if he got good grades then it shows how good he is at being bad. Yeh thats the plan, soon everyone is going to regret being mean to him.
***
"Okay class today, you're going to be picking locks, as you can see you each have a standard lock on your desk. The instructions are on the board, you have ten minuits. If you fail to unlock it in the time given you will be punished. You may start."
Okay Lloyd c'mon you can do this. It's simple all the instructions are on the board. He can't fail at this, because if he fails, he'll be punished and those punishments hurt. Okay if he jigles it this way he should feel a light click. Ughh why can't he feel a click. All he needs to do is push the pins on the inside of lock up and put a little bit of pressure on it with the paper clip and it will unlock, simple. Although it's not simple, its hard.
"One minuit left" the teacher anounced. Only a handful of people had theirs done.
Wait he nearly has it just click there...
"10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5,"
Click, he's done! With 5 seconds to spare. He can't believe it! He thought for sure he was going to fail.
"1, Locks down everyone if I see a single hand on thier lock i swear... Anyways the people who didn't finish will meet me here after school for their punishment and trust me I know who didn't get there's finished. Okay now leave you little brats before I make you."
Everyone packed up there things and started leaving when the teacher came over to Lloyd.
"Cutting it close there Garmadon. This is the first time i've ever seen you succed at anything you worthless brat. Keep this work up and you might make it."
"Yes Mrs"
And with that Lloyd took off to his next class.
***
"All you need to do is kill it!" His teacher next to him told him with frustration over Lloyd's hesitance, in his voice.
In Lloyd's hand was a little mouse, it was a very small one, with white fur and big adorable eyes that seem to be staring into his soul, begging him to let it live. It was like it was mocking him. He needed to kill it for him to pass this class. Lloyd so desparetly wanted to kill it so he could prove to everyone that he was evil like his father. So far he was acctually doing good at his classes, but when it came to hurting anyone or in this case anything, he just couldn't.
A small part of him, that he has tried to burry for so long, kept coming up and it would remind him that everything about this place is wrong. It almost buzzed like it was alive, but that was just his imagination.
He just couldn't get rid off it the only time the buzzing stop was when he did something good but he couldn't do good because he was born to be evil.
"Hurry up"
Lloyd was to scared to speak back so he started to squeze his hands shut. The little mouse let out a sqeek when he started to squeze harder, It looked up at him with big eyes and Lloyd finally broke, dropping the mouse.
"I- i" Lloyd felt like his throat was closing up the more he tried to speak.
"Save it, your a disappointment to the Garmadon name, we noticed the way you care for others but we had hope to snuff the light out of you."
"B-but I do g-good in my other c-classes."
"That is true but for all of your other classes to matter you need to be cold hearted or else you won't survive in this world"
"Y-yes sir"
***
Those memories feel like ages ago or like they happened in another life. After he was kicked out he spent a good time on the streets then he met the ninja and his life changed for the better. But now he was in jail because the stupid djinn framed them. He is so sick of being in jail, Wait!He can just grab a fork from the cafeteria and pick the locks, ughhh he so stupid, he could off done this alot sooner.
Well he got the fork but now there in this thing called the hole, oh well they're getting out of here either way.
After they broke out he really forgot that he didn't tell anyone he knew how to pick locks. So obviously that was a convorsation starter with his big sis, while the other were talking to Captin Soto.
"Lloyd you never told me that you could pick locks." Nya exclaimed.
"Well yeah I guess it never really came up" Lloyd shrugged
"When did you learn to pick locks, thats not something any of us taught you"
"Well I did go to a school where they taught you how to be evil, I learned alot of other things too, but I don't think any off them really go with the whole 'saviour of ninjago' thing" laughed Lloyd
"Yeh I suppose so".
Nya remebered reading Lloyd's file from darkly's with the other ninja. It said that he was a good student, but got kicked out because he was to good and kind. In there words 'he did not have the moral ambition to be one of tomorrows master minds' or thats what Lloyd told them anyways.
***
Its been a few days since his father had taken over ninjago and to be honest he wasn't faring well. Not like ninjago was doing any better with buildings collapsing, people getting hunted down, people dying and the list goes on and on. He was currently over looking the city from the roof of there hide out.
Just his luck his family was dead, he was being hunted down by his newly resurrected, deranged father, who had put him in a coma and disowned him all in one night, and Harumi his psychotic ex? Were they even together? he really dosn't know. All he knows is he had been too trusting and too good and what had that gotten him? Destiny had set him up to fail before he was even born. He probably has a good few bets resting on him up in cloud kingdom. There was a sound of the rooftop door opening but Lloyd kept starring off into the sky.
"I knew I would find you up here"Nya said softly.
Lloyd didn't reply, he didn't trust himself not to breakdown right there. Altough there wouldn't be much tears. Lloyd thought bitterly, another thing darkly's forced out of him. After what felt like an eternity of silence he spoke.
"You know when I was little I wanted so bad to follow in my Dad's shoes" Lloyd laughed shallowly.
"Lloyd, this man isn't truely your father, your father is the father that loved you and would never even think about hurting you"
"Did I ever tell you why exactly I got kicked out of darkly's?"
"You said something about 'lacking ambition'" Nya recalled
"Well they told me I wasn't cold enough, that I needed to be cold hearted to survive in this world, after I couldn't kill a mouse. I guess they were right, I opened up my heart and now look what thats done." Lloyd motioned at the city.
"Lloyd you're caring, loyal, trusting, a great leader, an amazing baby brother and so many more. Don't let this stop you, I promise we will rise above all this and when that time comes you can laugh at all the people who told you any different."
Headcanon/Pokéninjago version of Lloyd’s identity crisis during season 5 of Ninjago
Got ab 12 likes on the announcement post so here we are: This is an essay-sorta-thing about something I thought and wrote some six years ago. It’s been so long since I wrote this I feel cringy reading it, but it’s tenable in Pokéninjago lore. It’s kind of a mix between my headcanon for the show, and canon of my AU, which is why there is mentions of “evolving” and Pokémon types.
Things to take into account:
Idk if there should be content warnings, but depression mention at least. Otherwise, this is pretty much as intense as season 5 went, just a little more angsty I suppose.
I must say that my version of Lloyd and his identity crisis were inspired by a certain artist’s version of him and by a comic they made about the Child’s Play episode’s aftermath. I don’t dare name the artist, since they don’t wish to be linked with the Ninjago fandom anymore, but some of you might know who I’m referring to.
I do not know how psychology stuff actually works, all of this was made on grounds of a couple of high school psychology courses and a lot of imagination `:D
I wrote this originally in Finnish and let Word translate it, so this might be v clumsy at points.
Most of the text is under the cut!
                                                  ~***~
When Lloyd was just a small cub, closer to three years, his mother had left him in his father's care. Misako knew the boy would become the Green Ninja and Garmadon would become the Dark Lord. That is why she went looking for any ancient knowledge to avoid the final confrontation. Although her heart was torn since she had to leave her loved ones, she knew that she couldn’t just sit on her hands, and that perhaps she was the only one that could prevent the decisive battle between good and evil. It was also her wish that the father and the son could spend as much time together as possible. Thus, Lloyd's earliest childhood memories are about his father, and his recollections of his mother are blurry, obscure, and fading away as he grows up, or mixing with other memories.
            Dad meant everything to little Lloyd. Although they lived in the same monastery with Lloyd’s uncle as well, whom he also liked, his own father was still the greatest. Garmadon also loved his child deeply and wanted him to have a happy life. Although the poison in his veins was starting to get a hold of him and he was increasingly drawn to the Golden Weapons, his love for Lloyd and the desire to be with him in anticipation of Misako's return kept him away from them for much longer than if the boy had never existed.
                    When Lloyd "evolved," he lost some important years of his life, during which a youngster usually developes a picture of himself and his changing body. Lloyd's body changed in a single moment and even though his mind also changed to some degree, it was still mostly on the same level as before, since artificial aging did not bring him the years of experience that growing up normally would. From that moment on, he had to form himself a new image of himself. Frankly, he was facing a fierce identity crisis.
                     After the episode Child's Play, Lloyd adopted an identity whose foundation was flimsy and unstable. It consisted of a few simple pillars that supported his image of himself. Some emotions, thoughts, and memories that he could not, wasn’t able to or didn’t dare to deal with, secretly and slowly gnawed at those pillars like erosion. They grew into doubt that settled into the cracks like rockfoil.
                     That flimsy foundation for his self-image, consisted of these elements: I am the Green Ninja. I'm the strongest ninja of all. I’m the son of  sensei Garmadon. I’m the grandson of The First Spinjitzu Master. I'm one of the Elemental Masters. I'm a student of Sensei Wu. I'm one of the five elemental ninjas. It's my destiny to protect the world from evil.
                     This made it easy for Morro to destabilize and crush Lloyd’s self-esteem. Morro proved himself to be stronger and more independent than Lloyd, and that he could win him over and over again, no matter how hard Lloyd tried to fight back. Lloyd felt weak and desperate. Two pillars of his self-image collapsed to the ground and the masked emotions and doubts that chipped away at the other columns began to grow and intensify: He was not the strongest ninja and was therefore unable to protect the world from this evil.
                     This also affected his view of him as the Green Ninja. Although logically he still was just that – the Golden Weapons and his powers had proven it – he could not help but think that maybe Morro really was supposed to be the Chosen One. His identity was cracking, which ate away at his strength and self-esteem. Being a Psychic Type, his greatest strength resided in his psyche, and whenever his mind was in an unstable and vulnerable state, he couldn’t do his best, even if he had used everything he had learned. Losing his father fairly recently had already struck a dangerous notch in his mental stability.
                     Even though Lloyd was still his father's son, it didn't feel the same when he was no longer with him. Finally, he was only driven forward by his relationship with his other loved ones. He had to do everything he could to stop Morro from harming his friends. By protecting them he was also protecting the last intact remnants of his Self.
                     Lloyd did everything he could to resist Morro's possession. From time to time a memory of his friends and the will to keep them safe increased his "self-control," weakening the ghost's hold on him. However, a long, grueling time in constant motion, without water and nourishment, poisoned by a cold, vindictive spirit, steadily filled his mind with anguish and despair. Doubts penetrated deep into the tears of his self-image, breaking everything old until he no longer knew who he was. Only with the last bits of his mental strength could he interfere with Morro's possession so that he failed to clear the other ninjas out of his way.
                     Then, when Morro broke away from Lloyd's body, the Espeon felt like nothing more than an empty, broken shell floating aimlessly in the dark, beachless sea. He was unable to live up to any of the expectations and goals that had been set for him. Now, he was used as a trade-in item in the market of the world’s destiny. He longer had the strength or power to save even his best friends. He was as helpless as a newborn pup and all he could do was to stand by and apologize when he was traded for Realm Crystal.
                      Somewhere from his past, he dug up one last spark of strength. Already as a child, he had been left alone with unfriendly people, who then had ignited that stubborn flame in him: the desire to fight the cruel, unjust and repressive world. His body still had more strength than his mind, and this momentary burst of grit made him kick the Crystal out of Morro's hand. This, however, caused him to end up in the freezing stream, all his energy used up. There was not much left but a primitive desire to survive and a little strength to keep his head afloat before the cold numbed his muscles.
                     Lloyd's mind was in shambles. Images, memories, shattered fragments of his adopted identity… they all churned in his tired, blurred consciousness. Unintentionally, he began to go through the feelings of uncertainty, fear and inadequacy that he had denied from himself for years. The present seemed more surreal than the memories. He relived moments that had had a revolutionary impact on his life: When the golden weapons pointed him out as a Green Ninja; when he grew up under the influence of Tomorrow's Tea; when he met his mother and became to know her; when he unleashed the Golden Dragon in the Temple of Light; how he fought the Overlord who was possessing his father; how he harnessed his True Potential; got his father back; lost Zane; reunited his friends again and felt great togetherness with the other Elemental Masters. When he lost his father again. And when Morro possessed him.
                     Lloyd was lost. If it wasn’t for his friends and their care, he would have sunk deep into depression (and, on the other hand, drowned or, at the very least, died of hypothermia). When Kai carried him out of the FSM’s tomb, it triggered a very clear memory of the day when the Master of Fire had fulfilled his potential and Lloyd had been identified as the Chosen One. That day, Kai had come to save him from an erupting volcano and carried him to safety. Now, Lloyd felt like he was that little scared cub again, who had for a moment thought he was going to burn to the ground in the boiling lava of the volcano. He remembered how Kai's closeness had brought a feeling of immediate security around him. Even though the mountain had raged and wanted to kill them both, Lloyd had known he didn’t have to be afraid. Kai was there. He'd protect Lloyd. There was no reason to fight the fear anymore, he didn't have to pretend like he was tough. He was carried by someone older and stronger, whom to rely on.
                     The feeling was so intense, the memory so vivid that Lloyd was overwhelmed by an inexplicable, immense grief. The sadness of being forced to give up a carefree childhood so early on, to take on an enormous responsibility and assume a role that seemed too demanding for such a small boy to perform. He had had to grow up way too soon. He started shaking from holding back the tears. He didn’t mind since he thought Kai was probably assuming that he was shivering from the cold. But when Kai said quietly and understandingly: "Shh... It's okay... Don't worry about it," the last wall of pride and fear fell, and Lloyd could no longer repress his weeping.
                     At this point, he slowly began to build a new identity on the ruins of the wrecked one. He understood that even though he was the Green Ninja, it didn’t make him greater or more important than the others. He had more magical power than anyone else, but he was still only a person just like them. He could hesitate, too, and fail. There was no way for him to do anything more than what he was capable of, mentally, physically, and skill-wise. That’s all there was to offer, and if it wasn't enough, there were others whom he could rely on. Others, who would catch him when he ran out of strength. He wasn't the last link to hold the whole structure together.
                     These ideas developed slowly in Lloyd's exhausted mind. Slowly, he got stitched back up from the fragments of his previous self-image. This time, however, his new identity was not something that was given to him from the outside, in which he would have had to fit himself, but it was a solid, authentic self-image created as a result of self-reflection. It was still obscure, uncertain and seeking its form, and its growth was overshadowed by fear. But the conversation with his father drove away that last fear. The fear that Morro was supposed to be the Green Ninja instead of Lloyd. His father assured that Lloyd’s qi had no influence on how he should live and act. He should live the way his heart told him to.
                     In the end, although Morro managed to beat Lloyd one last time, this time he did not break down. He was more intact now, he had more inner strength, and he knew for sure he wouldn't be abandoned. That the fate of the world wasn't really up to him. He may have been part of the story, but after all, he wasn't the protagonist, at least not the only one of them.
I have a question about the fairy AU! How does season 5 play out? Like, is Morro a ghost fairy? (Is that a thing?) Or something else? Also kind of unrelated, but what's Master Wu's role in the au?
I’ll do Wu first cus it’s shorter.
Wu and Garmadon originally were going to be some random Ministers that Queen Clarion kept around. But I think instead, Wu and Garmadon are honorary members of the Court. And Queen Clarion will not be in this, instead, It will fall under the royal family, though we won’t see much of them til season 8. So a lot of the time, people would come to Garmadon and Wu for their troubles.
They keep/kept the peace and and people respect him like he were a Minister or how they would respect Queen Clarion in the Tinkerbell movies. Garmadon, however “disappears” and They have only Wu to look up to. In this, he does not unite the ninja team himself but instead subtly leads them to meet up and build a friendship before hand. He does know of Zane, he kinda has to, but he doesn’t know him personally until he becomes friends with the rest of the crew.
Wu will most certainly be a warm fairy, and i’m not so sure if i’m decided on Garm being a winter fairy or not. I like the idea, and I like to imagine his quest for the “Golden Weapons” from ninjago that gave him extra arms and the ability to hold all the weapons at once,, would instead be translated into his ability to cross the border without issue (Garmadad or Papa Garmadon will not have this though, and will remain a Warm fairy regardless).
I would also like to think that, If Garmadon were a winter fairy Minister, he’d probably known Zane at least a little bit (he probably forgot tho, ngl,, seems like Garm). Honestly, it would be Garmadon of all people to persuade him to leave the Winter Woods or tell him it would be alright if that’s what he really wanted. I’d imagine that after that conversation, Zane left and found Echo and never went back.
NOW-- SEASON 5-- I’ve been debating on that for a while ngl.
I can think on the spot for a ghost fairy situation and say that the cursed realm is actually another pirate ship that wrecked on the coast of Neverland. And mysteriously attracts dark forces or something and after entering, you’re cursed to basically be a ghost. Your talent becomes redundant and you are no longer tethered to the mortal plane, meaning they don’t need pixie dust and can fly about well enough, like a hover.
Morro was one of the few that got away from the ship, along with Archer, Bansha, Ghoultar, and Wrayth later on, sent out by the Preeminent (a giant ass deformed octopus) so they can curse the rest island in general. All of Neverland is in danger this time. I like to imagine Pixie Hollow is the equivalent of Ninjago. and all of Neverland and partially the Mainland is the 16 realms (because fairies are small and it works out).
Morro, has the sameish goal. He was told by Wu that he was destined to be a great leader of some kind. But after he was not chosen, he got famously upset and left looking for just--something to prove himself. I don’t know if I can successfully pull off the whole First Spinjitsu Master Tomb thing or the FSM in general. But seasons 8-10 kinda need em so I’ll figure him out later.
It would play out relatively the same. Lloyd getting possessed or at least put out of the picture, the others need to go to the Cloud Kingdom. There is no Airjitsu but I will definitely find a way to make Cole a ghost fairy too since it’s a great concept and essential to future episodes, rip his talent though.
Nya does not need to learn she is able to control and manipulate water, she knows, but she was never good at it (which was why she was considered an outcast like the rest of the team), but she will have to learn how to do this with Wu’s help and she is badass.
Ronin is probably a fast flying fairy because he always escapes the law haha, but he still does what he can to survive. He does still have Rex though, he is a flying/gliding lizard look em up, they’re great.
The Cloud Kingdom is a cloud based city somewhere in the mountain area in the centre of Neverland, so the guys will have to travel quite the distance and since it’s so high up, it’s super cold and hard to get to. I’m not so sure about the reeesst of this bit? I’m thinking on the fly and it’s been a while since I watched S5. Sorry.
But when Morro is able to free the Preeminent, big octopus lookin’ mo fo, she starts off cursing and attacking a river camp (water fairy camp which i’m making up to be Styx). The guys are struggling all while Lloyd is having his showdown with Morro. I don’t think I can have them traversing realms, so I think they’d just be fighting wherever, one moment they’re in the trees, next they’re on the ground. I don’t remember which one comes out visctorious, but whichever one loses, was plunged into it, thus removing his ability to fly for the time being.
As the fight progresses, the Preeminent gets closer and closer to the Pixie Dust tree or whatever, and that’s when Nya goes full badass mode and uses her super OP powers to plunge the Preeminent back into it’s oceanic prison, thus rendering all the ghosts weak and useless.
And a I am primarily following canon, Morro, unfortunately, does still choose not to be saved, and it taken into the depths below also. Sharing one last goodbye with his old sensei.
IT’S PROBABLY NOT THAT DIFFERENT I’M SORRY, I would genuinely hand this season to someone else rn because I don’t have the time to watch S5 again and I really do not remember as much as I shouldjghh
assistance would be rather nice haha--
2019 Fic in Review
Inspired by @myevilmouse I’m going to sum up all the writing I’ve been up to the past year. I’m really proud of what I’ve accomplished, and thanks to you all for the encouragement to put my ideas out into the world! This has been a year of trying new things, and really growing as an author I feel… And wow according to AO3 I’ve written about 400k words in the past 12 months, damn. So let’s get to the list, going from the beginning of the year to the end, and as always please heed the tags on these before reading.
Note: As I go back, I’m realizing a lot of the links were messed up or are just straight missing. I am on the Mobile App so things can get messy. Please visit my works page on AO3 HERE to see all of these on my page under JessKo and my other pseuds.
1 Late Night at the Slab
Idea: Filling a prompt for the Thryce server in which some, uh, unique Chiss anatomy was assigned.
Result: A 3-way with Thrawn, Arihnda, and Eli and my first foray into the more Xeno side of things in a Modern AU setting. Yeehaw!
2 The Trouble With Free-Roaming Ysalamiri
Idea: Based on some adorable ysalamiri cuddles art by @strength-through-order I wanted to write some Thranto fluff.
Result: Ysalamiri-filled Thranto fluff X’D
3 Inquisitor’s Debt
Idea: What if the Grand Inquisitor changed sides at the end of Rebels season 1?
Result: Some fun throwbacks with Obi-Wan and Caleb Dume leading up to Quizzy defecting with Ezra.
4 Ancient Stems
Idea: Eli Week drabbles based on the Vanto Week prompts.
Result: A silly buzz droid narrative with Thrawn and some cute slice of life Eli backstory/Ascendancy days bits.
5 Charnsuka
Idea: Kinky stuff with Lord Garmadon when he’s an Anacondrai.
Result: Kinky stuff with Lord Garmadon when he’s an Anacondrai. Sorry Zane!
6 Caged Like Prized Birds
Idea: Again inspired by the awesome Chiss anatomy and Thrux drawings by @strength-through-order , I wanted to craft a narrative around Armitage, as a young man, stumbling upon a clone of Thrawn.
Result: Man, this might just be one of my favorite things I’ve ever written, had so much fun plotting it out and the smut is mmm! Tentacles everywhere~ I’ve gone back to re-read this a lot, I’ll admit it. I hope you all enjoyed it too.
7 Quiet On Set
Idea: Must. Write. Talos.
Result: A cute little platonic x-reader with everyone’s favorite Skrull. This was my first MCU fic too.
8 Diagnostic
Idea: Wanted to apologize to Zane for the damages done in Charnsuka with some Glacier shipping fluff.
Result: A silly glacier thing leading to a bit of foolery. I’m happy with it!
9 Heron Soaring
Idea: A continuation of the plot line from Heron Rising with Kanan and Thrawn.
Result: Too many feels… but some great sex to soften the blow, Kanera too!
10 Patron
Idea: Responding to a tumblr prompt from @wukeskywalker regarding Thrawn commissioning LOADS of artworks of Eli.
Result: More Thranto fluff! I see a trend here…
11 Black Heron
Idea: Kanan x Pryce for @myevilmouse , I think this was our first ‘collaboration’ on something!
Result: Juahir hires a special someone to show Arihnda a good time!
12 Red Heron
Idea: @star-wars-rebels-4 is always an amazing wealth of ideas for Grand Inquisitor, and encouraged a work featuring him and Kanan.
Result: Delicious back alley smut when an undercover Jedi is caught!
13 Warm Homecoming
Idea: Give my and a friend's OCs some cute fluff.
Result: OC fluff and a vacation to Hoth!
14 sowing the seeds
Idea: Add something cute to the spank war project.
Result: Another contender for my ‘favorite thing I’ve ever written’ rank. Two chapters of pining, cooking lessons, and sweet slick smut.
15 Red Frost
Idea: After watching “The Evil of Frankenstein” with @sneakybunyip ‘s amazing movie night group, I wanted to do something fun with Victor and Hans.
Result: A fun little adventure fic with some huddling for warmth to boot. Victor and Hans are the hammer-horror-verse Thranto send tweet.
16 a setting sun to hide the ruins
Idea: What if I tortured Kanan to the point he turned evil and joined the Inquisitors (and went a little insane in the process)
Result: Instead of torture, let’s just use some serum that drives him mad. Perfect. Smut ahoy, pretty much a dead dove type fic.
17 Pinktown
Idea: When browsing abandoned towns in Florida, I came across Flamingo… what if Thrawn had been exiled here instead.
Result: An alternate history of Thrawn’s exile and eventual discovery by the Empire. Huge thanks for @badgerandk on this one for the perfect epilogue and beta.
18 the sun rises to only illuminate the stranger i have become
Idea: Setting sun… part 2! But it’s actually what happens before sun?
Result: How Kanan ended up where he is for ‘a setting sun’... lots of imp smut and again, it's sort of a dead dove style fic.
19 Frozen Over
Idea: Ar’alani x Eli Vanto
Result: Somehow me and my writing partner ended up at sensory deprivation focus on this one.
20 Shape of Honor
Idea: Well, this one started in 2018 but ‘finished’ in 2019. Still working on the epilogue. Lots of tweaks… If you are not familiar, this is my AU in which it explores how the Thrawn novel and Rebels show would be altered if Palpatine distrusted Thrawn from their first meeting and accused him of being a Chiss spy. Vaguely inspired by the film The Shape of Water.
Result: Well it's nearly a novel now, isn’t it. This was a great adventure in learning how to create compelling story arcs. I’m extremely satisfied with how it is shaping (lol) up.
21 Datura Stamonium
Idea: Thrawnbine ovi smut.
Result: Oops it has plot now, a whole backstory with Eli and such and so fourth. Will need further stories told…
22 Desert Entropy
Idea: Luke/Wedge modern AU shenanigans.
Result: Also pulled Nath/Wyl and the Rogue Squad/Alphabet Squad peeps into this. Set in Vegas, Luke and Wedge meet and have a cute little romance, but some legal troubles set them back (Palpatine, as always, is That Bitch™) Very happy ending!
23 The Great Eli and Thrawn Prank War
Idea: See Chapter 1: Mullet Thrawn
Result: This thing really grew up, and thanks to all the contributors for allowing me to join in! My contributions were: 7-Bombs Away! In which a bit of drama brews and Thrawn makes a paint bomb that forces him and Eli back into being roomates. 11-Tooka Troube 2: Electric Boogaloo in which Eli finds his quarters slowly filling up with Tooka plush toys, and then something huge goes off in supply. 17-The Bitch is Back In which who knew Thrawn could sing?!
24 Clipped Wings to Keep Us from Flying
Idea: Continuing the story line from Caged Like Prized Birds
Result: Dragging Eli and the OG Thrawn into this, seeing that their stories were left untold in the first work. Also Armitage and the clone are up to all sorts of cool things. Still a WIP, on the list to keep working on this year!
25 I’ll do what I can.
Idea: Some Ronan/Krennic feels post Treason
Result: A Ronan character study that I really needed to get out of my system and finally a stable alliance between Krennic and Thrawn!
26 Purple Heron
Idea: @punk--kenobi and I concocted some fun Kanan/Zeb/Hera smut featuring Lasat heat cycles.
Result: Ah this came out so cool, full of emotion and wonderful imagery. Massive kudos to @punk--kenobi for beta-ing my portion and contributing some of the best smut one can find!
27 Ninjago Angst Week 2019
Idea: Do some 1-shots for Ninjago Angst Week
Result: ow right in the feels. Each character got a highlight in their own ‘dark retelling of a canon or canon adjacent event’ chapter.
28 Vertigo
Idea: Thing’s don’t go right planetside for Eli, Pik, and Waffle in Treason.
Result: Big oof. I hope Eli can one day forgive me… I even put strain on the end game Thranto! Bittersweet ending and lots of angst.
29 More Than Just a Treat
Idea: What is Obi Wan up to in the desert…
Result: Aunt Beau and baby Luke baked him cookies obviously!
30 Datura Metel
Idea: Continuing the Datura cycle…
Result: Just how Eli ended up where he did in the first installation.
31 Here & Now
Idea: Some Thranto Fluff! For @jewelliffer
Result: A camping trip for shore leave! And a marriage proposal for extra sugar.
32 Monster Under the Bed
Idea: Benevolent Boogeyman Chiss
Result: Modern AU Thranto spooky sillies. Bit of an intense climax but they talk it out!
33 Haunted by Sentiment
Idea: Nath is in denial of being the Squad Dad for @glassprowlers
Result: Nath’s very bad no good oh so terrible day! It's very silly and I really like how it ended up, the title is way more serious than the story itself XD
34 Pulse
Idea: Werewolf AU Lavashipping
Result: Oops Kai is a werewolf! Good thing Cole is here to help him figure out how to press on.
35 Stories from Area 51
Idea: remember the raid Area 51 meme? I do! Gotta clap them alien cheeks!
Result: Oh no it got PLOTTY! Pretty much all of my favorite characters and ships cherry-picked and plopped down into a Men In Black style facility in the middle of the desert. I really have a thing for the desert huh…
36 Good Day
Idea: The “truth” behind the “Good day, Lieutenant Vanto” from Thrawn in Treason.
Result: Oh stars the FEELS! Thrawn is in deep water and he KNOWS IT! GAH!
37 Fur Ball
Idea: Chiss are mogwai/gremlins…
Result: Silly Thranto fluff. Thrass shows up too! Feeding them after midnight is actually a good idea here… Grow your own ideal man!
38 Came Back Haunted
Idea: A mission fic centered around the @peters-pumpkin-day prompts.
Result: Ice planet survival with Tarkin, Krennic, Galen, and Ronan.
39 Sewn Together
Idea: This drawing actually is what lead to the fic-
Tumblr media
Result: A fairly unique reuniting of Thrawn and Eli after both return to the Ascendancy.
40 Spiked Heron
Idea: Oh no… Kanan gets himself in deep poodoo this time.
Result: Devaronians really like humans huh? The next chapter is half way written I swear it is coming soon!
41 A Colder Embrace
Idea: Thrawn/Purrgil/Ezra and Luke/Wampa for SW Rare Pairs.
Result: It's very cold on Hoth… and even colder in space.
42 Surround
Idea: Luke/Wedge for SW Rare Pairs
Result: Luke has to confront Wedge post ESB regarding what is, essentially, his deserting the Rebels.
43 What Happens Planetside…
Idea: Eli/Pik/Waffle for SW Rare Pairs
Result: heheh a scrumptious Eli sandwich! And surprise tentacles because, well, why not?
44 Hesperidium
Idea: Fluffy Kylux for the Kylux Secret Santa event
Result: Ah its so sweet you might get a cavity
45 Reanimator
Idea: Lovecraftian eldritch horror Thranto
Result: This is the sort of project that it takes 2 months to fine tune each chapter, so bear with me, but I can promise a wonderful, creepy ride is ahead!
46 Floral
Idea: Luke/Faro for SW Rare Pairs. Enjoy the Jedi lovin’, @myevilmouse
Result: Sex pollen and accidentally defecting from the Empire. Whoops!
47 The Harch
Idea: Bouncing off of THIS art by @mamidlo , we worked together to create this plot. Very much inspired by the Hammer Horror films, such as Dracula and Frankenstein.
Result: A fun and spooky romp of Kallus and Zeb getting trapped in a creepy castle featuring mind controlled drones and a species-obsessed Harch. This was my first time posting the entire story at once, too!
Wow, I can not believe how much has been written this year. Thank you all again for reading and kudos-ing and your amazing comments. I’d not be here without the support and love <3 Cheers to 2020 and much more fic ahead!
SEASON 1, EPISODE 13: Day of the Great Devourer
I AM…. EMOTIONALLY OVERTAXED. I THINK I NEED A TEENSY HIATUS AFTER THIS. I’M ONE SEASON IN AND I NEED A BRIEF BREATHER.
FUCK!
[21:21] Well, this is gonna be a TREAT.
[21:05] haha i guess Wu’s dying now
[20:48] ??? ha ha what
[20:41] did… did Wu teleport out
[20:29] the Devourer is released and it’s FOCKEN HONGREY
[20:23] Honestly you should’ve bailed the second Wu was “eaten” but fair enough
[20:18] oh would you look at that. it’s moving
[20:12] haha good luck Jay
[19:59] Okay kids, just get the HELL OUT
[19:49ish] “Hate to tell you this but OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE CLOSER THAN THEY APPEAR!” “Working on it!”
[19:45] Alrighty guys, just RUN FOR YOUR LITTLE LEGO LIVES
[19:37] Welp. Kai celebrated too soon.
[19:21] I’m half panicked despite knowing we’re surviving for a good eleven plus seasons and half laughing (either nervously or like… funny)
[19:10] Alright, see what you’ve gotta part with NOW before the giant monster snake thing eats you
[19:07] Aaaand that’s a turbine thing gone
[18:55] Kay, that worked but I don’t know how much speed we’ll gain with part of the ship missing
[18:49] GODDAMMIT YOU GAVE IT STUFF TO EAT
[18:15] Guys stop celebrating it makes it come back sooner
[18:06] Farewell, skyboat. You had a good run.
[17:45] Can we get an F in the notes for the Skyboat? (sarcastic but kinda not really)
[17:39] guys get the HELL AWAY IT’S GONNA EAT THE DAMN BOAT
[17:35] Let’s go ninja, let’s go!
[17:16] And there it goes.
[16:47] Okay, but in this moment I do agree with Jay. The main base for you guys is gone, and you’re probably the best equipped to deal with this thing, and yet you’re not at all ready to deal with this. If the Devourer reaches a big population base like Ninjago City, then you’ll all be totally fucked. (Also, fun sidenote, I saw that post that ended up basically saying “Ninjago is Australia and that’s why Australia isn’t real”. To be honest if that THING was running around the Outback or the bush I wouldn’t be too shocked.)
[16:36] But seriously, you guys do need to do something. By “I agree with Jay” I generally mean the mentality not the actual action.
[16:10] Yay! Inspiring talks!
[15:47] Euh. Looks like Jay’s having a bit of a breakdown there.
[15:37-15:34] “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” “Probably not, but go ahead.”
[14:54] Well, the Serpentine are certainly regretting everything.
[14:39] Wait, is this bait? If it’s not bait you’re just kicking yourself in the foot, you know that, right?
[14:16] Goddammit, that poor Postie.
[13:47] I’m sorry, Take Back Ninjago Rally? I’m sorry? I’m sorry?
[13:32] Oh, no it’s fiiiiiFUCK THAT MEANS THE DEVOURER’S PROBABLY HEADING THAT WAY
[13:12] “It’s now or never, guys.” We’re only halfway through the episode, I think you’re getting ahead of yourself.
[12:57] HELL YEAH, MORE VEHICLES TO MERCHANDISE
[12:33] djdjdjd I guess it’s like “OKAY WE’VE GOT A COLLECTIVE IDEA AND WE HAVE NO CLUE HOW WELL WE EXECUTED IT SO WE BETTER HAVE REMEMBERED TO INCLUDE EVERYTHING WE NEED”
[12:01] Blasting shit with the power of music! Hell yeah!
[11:50] Welp, the car’s broke.
[11:48] Wait, he dies in seasons 3 and 11 right? Probably not right here.
[11:37] Hooh boy, half his face came off.
[11:05] Goddammit, called that it was going that way.
[10:50] hahaha you’re all at risk, random citizens
[10:29] Uhoh. UHOH.
[10:15] WELL FUCK.
[9:59] It’s like ... overly tacky voices, somewhat serious circumstances, ????
[9:52] Save! Your! Parents!
[9:41] Let’s go ninjas, let’s go!
[9:27] Cole Is Just Very Buff, That’s Just How It Is
[9:16] I hope that like… stops the stabby tail end thing.
[9:13] It didn’t.
[9:05] Oh. Garmadon’s back in the picture, but he’s buying Traveller’s Tea. Uhoh.
[8:37] Like??? It’s an absolute cliche storm but then you get lines like “People are recommended to flee or run away, waving their arms wildly while screaming like little children.” and it’s so sudden that it really boosts the joke
[8:16] Ouch.
[8:03] HOLY SHIT IT’S A DRAGON AND MANY DRAGONS AT THE SAME TIME
[7:20] GIANT LIZARDS/SERPENTS FACING OFF, LET’S GO LADS
[7:03] OUCH.
Can you tell me all the plot holes in Ninjago?
Sorry if I miss some, it’s been a while and I’m tired (also note this will include things that were oddly changed when it contradicts previous episodes, not just actual plot holes... and stuff that bothers me in general)
1. Wrong Place Wrong Time: After the Golden Weapons launched off into non existence when the boys went back in time, everything was relatively the same when they got back. If the weapons never existed it wouldn’t have gotten them to where they were. Lloyd would still be a child, the Great Devourer would be alive, etc. On top of that HOW could they still exist in their timeline at all, the whole thing with Pixal’s memories of a different programming was... odd.
2. “Garmadon’s” Letter: Back in season 2, there was 0 mention of this. Misako makes it sound like she loved him because that’s who she was drawn to more. But of course we need to drum up some sympathy for Wu because like, he’s supposed to the good brother and best sensei. It made no sense to throw this into season 4 but I guess they ran out of ideas and in return wanted some new form of tension, even if they had to shoehorn that in.
3. Jay’s Parentage: “Out of all creations, this one was our greatest” that makes it sound like you made a baby, not groomed a child to be kind and smart and a good person. Hagebros had no business writing that just to change it up that his mom and dad were entirely different and he was adopted out of nowhere in ns6. It came out of left field and once more, wanted to cause drama.
4. Zane as Chen’s Prisoner: Zane got a body back, okay, but how did he and Pixal both end up on the island? Did Pixal not tell anyone she remade the body of the ice ninja and their best friend? How could NO ONE know? Not even Cyrus knew what happened. He seemed to know Pixal vanished one day, but he couldn’t figure out Zane was in the Borg Tower systems? I WANT ANSWERS DAMNIT
5. ECHO ZANE: This one bothers me so much. The fam were all staying at Julien’s place back in season 2... where the hell was this robot throughout all of that!? Julien would just abandon Echo there all on his own until Jay and Nya go back how many years later?! It makes no sense that they would add this character to it.
6. Constant Job Changes: How many times are the ninja going to change careers at the start of a new season? In season 3 they were teachers, fine, whatever, I can accept this if they’re finally 18+, but in season 4 they abandoned the boarding school! What about their students and the tuition their parents probably paid?? (assuming this because they had uniforms). In season 5 they had a tea farm!? Where did they get all of this money!?
7. Ronin: So if the game (Shadow of Ronin) IS canon... how does Wu, Misako, and Nya not know who he is in the show? Yet the other five do? I get the feeling that only part of the game is canon as far as who Ronin is. Though if the game is canon, that would explain more of Zane and Pixal being on Chen’s island (though it doesn’t explain about Pixal not fruking telling anyone she rebuilt Zane because in a recording in game, it shows Ronin with Zane in a physical body and Pixal together)
8. Pythor: How... How many years can snakes survive without food? Because if the Serpentine War happened 100 years ago as to Pythor’s release... did he eat rotting carcass? How did he have a stable food supply?
9. That Freaking Serpentine War and Elemental Masters: Okay so I get it, elemental masters don’t age as fast so bla blah, that’s why 50 years can go by and Ray and Maya could have Kai and Nya and Garmadon and Wu could be alive... BUT... Misako was alive too yet she’s considered NOT an elemental master! She was alive during that time... also Chen! and... is Clouse even an elemental master? If elemental masters can only live so long how can these assumed non masters still age like them? And in season 7 Maya looks even younger in modern day! This is one of my biggest peeves with the story so far in regards to the explanation Tommy told us.
10. Wu’s Dragon: In season 1... IN FREAKING SEASON UNO, NYA ASKS WU IF HIS FLUTE COULD TURN INTO A FREAKING VEHICLE OR WHATEVER I CAN’T REMEMBER. Yet in season 5... HE HAD A FUCKING DRAGON. Way to stay consistent fam. This bothers me so much... on an unrelated note, why doesn’t Misako use her spinjitsu anymore when she needs to defend herself? Oh wait, do we need to have her be incapable so Wu can “swoop in to save the day” when it’s onviously unnecessary when they shown she could fight still? Back to the dragon thing though, yea, I call bullshit.
I have a simple need; working new lore in while staying consistent. You would think that with the newer seasons at least we would get some actual plotline, but nope, everything gets more chaotic.
I would touch more on Kai and Nya’s parents and about Nya’s memory of them and other stuff I’ve been reading about season 7, but I don’t know much about it. I would LOVE to hear the bullshit reason Ray and Maya are alive and back... I really would guys.
Also, although I think the semi-confirmed timeline is STUPID, it does explain a tiny bit more as far as the adults and the war... at least a couple of things with that... (but I still want to fucking know ages and shit of the actual main characters and how a bunch of 16 year olds were approved to run a school if my understanding of their ages is right)
The plot just needs a bit of an overhaul... okay? After season 2, nothing is making sense and the plot got away from them way too much.
Sorry that was long. I tried to think of as many big ones as I could but it might take me a week to binge every single episode and write it all down. I really hate inconsistencies... can ya tell?
