B-B-B-BRAINSTORMING TIME FOR NEW LORE, HERE COMES THE STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS TRAIN CHOO CHOO

okay, so, my fire kids are in retirement. florry and the gang are also in some kind of retirement; amaruq tried to capture and skin them or something, they all got attacked by harpies, amaruq and moth Bonded somehow, and now they’re on an adventure to figure out what the hell is up with sornieth’s fair folk.

IT IS LIGHT KIDS TIME.

I’ll be honest, I went Light like 60% because y’all have discount constantly and I need to gene some dragons. I’m the load. It’s me. Put me in the pillory, boys, I have committed dragon crimes.

But as flights go, Light is one of the most “normal” in terms of environmental gimmicks to contend with in lore-building, along with Wind. I have no obligation to make the lair out of a tree or a volcano or actual flesh. I have some freedom here as far as aesthetic and all that good shit goes.

Things to consider:

1) My oh my god miracle new year baby. She’s effectively my progen for this. She will not be the leader of anything; I have a strong tendency to start building a cast and then latch onto insignificant side characters, so I’m going to try to head that off by making her an insignificant side character from the start. HA HA

My most effective characters tend to be the ones that have at least one of my own flaws as a major character trait, so this one’s going to get...

...my piss-poor executive function and resultant total lack of personal ambition. That should rub up interestingly against Pearlcatcher culture, especially in Light where it probably most resembles what’s in the site encyclopedia!

2) Before I went quiet on FR, I had been rolling around a plan for a new clan in Fire. The key inspirational phrase was “demon eater”. I could probably transplant this into something in Light.

3) I’ve been told that fandom Light is full of aristocracy.

I wanna play too.

4) “Demon eater”. Taking evil into oneself to break it down and disarm it. Light, itself, dispels shadows.

I’ve been following and thinking about Tumblr’s awful fanwork discourse a good bit lately; this could pull from that well of interest? “Demon eater” as an expression of catharsis, voluntary, pre-emptive interaction with frightening ideas. Light is all about philosophy. Linking literal “demon-eating” to metaphorical “demon-eating”, performing Shade-destroying arts and interpreting them at the same time as a model for good thought?

5) Oooooh I can actually do something with the Shade this time around.
