*SU Spoiler* How Steven Will See Pink Diamond’s Past
Since new Steven Universe episodes are coming very soon, there was a theory that has been on my mind since “Legs from Here to Homeworld” from July. So it has been stated from Rebecca Sugar that fans were very spot on about White Diamond’s personality from just a short introduction (article: https://www.thewrap.com/steven-universe-showrunner-rebecca-sugar-fans-on-point-about-white-diamond/). The article stated, “Sugar also hints that as Steven learns more about White Diamond, fans will also learn more about Pink Diamond’s past before she faked her death and disguised herself as the rebel Rose Quartz.” We are not only going to learn more about White Diamond but also Pink Diamond’s past on Homeworld as well as her relationship with White Diamond.
Now one must wonder how will we know about her past? Well famous Youtuber, Awestruckvox (highly recommend watching his video), did theorize that Steven will probably use his mind powers to see Pink Diamond’s memories. It is highly possible and here are a few reasons.
1) “Legs From Here to Homeworld” gave a major hint
Tumblr media
Rebecca is known for foreshadowing. Since Blue and Yellow Diamond know Steven is Pink Diamond, they think he literally is Pink Diamond even after lots of explanations. After Steven explains he does not have Pink Diamond’s memories, Yellow Diamond says, “Hm. I am sure your memories are in there somewhere Pink.” That literal sentence is what got me to theorize that Steven will be able to gain Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz memories. It basically foreshadows Steven looking into the past through Pink Diamond’s memories and we will see lots of things about Pink Diamond we have not known.
2) It has happened before.
Steven has technically accessed Pink Diamond’s memories before. The first to occur was “Jungle Moon” when Stevonnie was stranded on a planet. Because Stevonnie is a fusion of Steven and Connie, we see Pink’s memory of her and Yellow Diamond as Stevonnie and Connie’s mom. We can see Pink Diamond wanted to have her own planet but was refused because Yellow Diamond believes Pink Diamond is not ready. This happens again in “Can’t Go Back” when Steven falls asleep on the moon base. We see more of a silhouette version of Pink Diamond, Yellow Diamond, and Blue Diamond. It seems Pink Diamond is complaining on colonizing Earth and Blue Diamond is giving her advice (not very good one) to basically stick her ground and continue because she is a diamond. Two times Steven was able to access Pink Diamond’s memories and it likely it will happen again on Homeworld.
3) Steven’s powers are growing and still developing.
Throughout the whole series, Steven has been developing new powers. First it was his shield and bubble which are more defensive moves. Then it was healing spit, organic based life animated powers (watermelon Stevens and Pumpkin), dream powers, levitation, dream powers, and psychic powers. In “Reunited” we see his psychic powers develop further as well as a new power emerging: the pink aura. Now that Steven is on Homeworld, he will have to use those new powers. His organic powers will not work on Homeworld and his defensive powers might not par with the technology. The healing spit may help physical damage but will not help the mental damage (White Pearl comes to mind). So only 2 powers will help on Homeworld: psychic powers and dream powers. His dream powers will help him understand Pink Diamond and her past and his psychic powers will help his battle with White Diamond in the upcoming episodes.
4) New promo shows Steven having a dream about Pink Diamond/Rose Quartz memory
Tumblr media
The new promo clip for the upcoming episodes shows Steven dreaming. It is not very clear, probably to not show spoilers, but it shows two important details: white shine shaped like a diamond and Steven puking out Rose’s curly hair. Before we could see anything, Steven wakes up like he saw a ghost. That clip is probably Steven dreaming of Pink Diamond’s past, specifically related to White Diamond.
Now it has only occurred twice that Steven was able to access Pink Diamond’s memories. However, why only twice? Steven’s dream powers started to emerge in “Chille Tid” and has grown stronger since. But it seems Pink Diamond’s memories are special and must be triggered by something. Then it hit me: there is something both those memories have in common: Both memories popped when something is familiar to that memory. In “Jungle Moon” Stevonnie was trapped on a remote planet that turned out to be colonized be an abandoned Yellow Diamond colony.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is where we see Pink Diamond and Yellow Diamond fighting. Then it happened again in “Can’t Go Back” as the moon base was Pink Diamond’s.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this memory, Blue Diamond is giving some strict advice to Pink Diamond about handling her colony. In both times Pink Diamond’s memories popped up in Steven’s dream, it happened in areas similar to the memory and have negative attachments. Now with Steven on Homeworld, there are areas that have ties to Pink Diamond and lots with bad memories of White Diamond as well as her memories of Homeworld.
Tumblr media
In “Legs From Here to Homeworld” White Diamond casts Steven to Pink Diamond’s room. This is important because Pink Diamond probably spent a lot of time in that room. However, the new episode about to come “Familiar” is probably going to show more areas of Homeworld, triggering Steven to see more memories of Pink Diamond. Hence the episode name “Familiar” as places on Homeworld will be familiar to Pink Diamond’s memories.

We shall see tomorrow!

Prey (2017)
Developer: Arkane Studios Publisher: Bethesda Softworks Rrp: £19.99 (Humblebundle, Steam and the Bethesda Store) Released: 4th May 2017 Available on: Humblebundle, Steam and the Bethesda Store Played Using: Mouse and Keyboard Approximate game length: 20+ Hours Did that cup just move? No... no. It was just my imagination. Never can tell though... best hit it with a wrench to be sure. But if I do that and its real the cup will be broken and then I'd have to find another cup for my coffee, again. But I swear I saw it move. Maybe I'll just give it a tap, that should be enough right? Wait, where's my wrench? AAAHHHHH! When I entered into this game I didn't know what to expect, I'd gone out of my way to avoid spoilers and ignored most of the promo material that was out there. All I really knew was that it was a first person game where you could turn into a mug, that was it. And I have to say I'm so glad that I went into this game blind! Prey is a first person RPG, taking extremely heavy inspiration from games such as System Shock Two and Bioshock. In fact this game actively flaunts its spiritual roots quite early on with several direct references to Looking Glass Studios (the creators of System Shock Two).
Tumblr media
You play as Morgan Yu working aboard the Space Station Talos One, its a big place and houses some of the best and brightest minds that the Earth can muster. Unfortunately an infestation of an alien race, known as the Typhon, has quickly taken root on Talos One and its up to Morgan to solve the issue. When starting a new game you can not only choose your difficulty setting but also activate survival mode which adds modifiers such as weapon degradation. This is actually the first game I've played that has a difficulty setting that's below 'easy'. The mode in question is named 'story' and from what I can tell (I didn't use it apart from a brief moment to see what it does) allows players who are only really interested in the story a way to play and experience the story without being constantly killed. Interestingly the player gets to choose what sex Morgan will be. What I find interesting about allowing this choice is the level of care they took into implementing this. Everything from dialogue with other characters, recorded audio logs and even written documents changes to reflect this choice. I know that sounds a bit strange to praise but it shows a level of attention to detail that you don't often see for a choice that, mechanically speaking, is insignificant.
Tumblr media
As I mentioned previously the enemy you face are known as Typhon and they come in a variety of shapes and sizes some of them being pretty damn huge. The most common of these enemies are mimics and it's because of them that this game is possibly one of the most tense games I've ever played, including Alien: Isolation. You see, mimics can imitate objects within the world, a box, a cup, even a health pack. That's what makes it so effective, the mimics can and do imitate collectible items, they even glow the same way on the HUD. I've never spent so much time smashing cups and generally hitting objects in the environment trying to flush out all the mimics before they can attack me. It must be said that the combat in this game is brutal, enemies hit very hard and come at you out of nowhere sometimes (especially mimics). If I'm honest I died a lot in this game, more than is usual for me. Thankfully the difficulty of the game can be changed very easily so if you find that a part of the combat is too grueling you can knock the difficulty down until the danger has passed. There's no shame in doing that if you've tried your best and found you just can't progress.
Tumblr media
You can recycle items into base components which in turn can be used to create items at fabricators, which is a great way to stock up on ammo or create other much needed items. If you're anything like me you'll always want to where the nearest recycler and fabricators are so that you can keep yourself nicely stocked up with ammo... specifically pistol ammo to shoot all the boxes and cups that might be mimics! Did I mention those? Damn things made me paranoid throughout the entire game! Now I did mention that this game was an RPG, well throughout the game you will find neuromods. These handy items allow you to unlock and increase your skills. At first these skills are somewhat normal in nature, increasing your damage with weapons, being able to run faster etc. However later in the game you can choose to take on Typhon abilities such as firing psychic bolts and being able to mimic objects yourself. These abilities are powerful but they also can cause certain events to trigger.
Tumblr media
I'm sure this game could be completed in under fourteen hours but this is the kind of game where I read every book and explore every nook and cranny. I just found so much to do and explore, it should also be mentioned that Talos One is pretty big so there is a lot of ground to cover. Of course what pushed my time into the fifty hour mark was the inclusion of new game plus which gives you all the abilities you previously unlocked once you reach a specific point in the game. So yeah, I kinda’ loved this game. Even if I was constantly paranoid. It gave me the same feelings I had when I played System Shock Two for the first time. If this appeals to you perhaps try;

LISTEN ALL OF MY FOLLOWERS ARE PORN BOTS SO SU FANS PROBABLY WON’T SEE THIS BUT
Here's my theory on Legs From Here to Homeworld:
White Diamond represents God, Homeworld, and life itself.
White Diamond is the gem counterpart of God. Gems are created from the ground by other gems. As far as we know, this includes Diamonds. Whether Diamonds come from the ground, we know that they are created by other gems. This is apparent through Pink's character. Because of her size, childlike behaviour, and youth in general, and her motherlike relationship with Blue Diamond, we can assume that she was created by the other Diamonds. According to this creationist Diamond hierarchy, we can assume that Yellow and Blue were created by White because White is larger and more powerful than they are. Who created White? White was born in a star. We know that diamonds can form inside of carbon heavy stars such as, ahem, WHITE dwarves (or supernovae). In addition, White's design is star-based. Her hair is in the shape of a star, her cape is made of stars, and her skin is radiant like a star. So if White was created by nobody, but White herself created gemkind, then White is gemkind's divine creator.
Like White Diamond, Homeworld is white and radiant. What other features do White and her planet share? Both are damaged. How so? Examine White's eyes. White's eyes are the most relevant motif for this arc. They were featured in the promo. Why did the promo only show her eyes? Why not her whole face? Because White Diamond is blind. Unlike other gems, White's pupils are a stark white. Now, this may be attributed to the fact that she her whole being is radiant and white, but examine her eyes as a whole; they don't move. Both in the promo and when White meets Steven, her eyes remain eerily stagnant. In addition, it is clear that White's Pearl mirrors her as her Pearl seems to be locked into the same standing position. Like White, her Pearl's face has also been damaged. White was likely damaged when she, Yellow, and Blue blasted Earth in an attempt to defeat the Crystal Gems. However, Rose Quartz whipped her shield out at the last second. The blast probably reflected off of her shield, and because White stood between Yellow and Blue, the blast probably hit her square in the face, blinding her. If White Diamond is the embodiment of Homeworld, then Homeworld would also have been damaged by this blast when she was injured. To be fair, I'll play devil's advocate for a second. White's eyes may be white simply because she is White Diamond. Maybe her eyes don't move as to make her unsettling. Nevertheless, Homeworld is still dependent upon White Diamond's presence. This is evident in her radiance. Earlier in the episode, we observe both Yellow and Blue using their powers. Upon doing so, they each emit light: Yellow produces sparkles, and Blue's hand glows. Now, White's entire body is glowing. This suggests that she is using a gargantuan amount of power, but what on? The answer is in her stance. We can't see White's hands, but we can see her Pearl's hands, and since her Pearl is mirroring her we can assume that their hands are posed the same. By this logic, White's hands are posed as if she is holding something. So, Homeworld is white and radiant like White Diamond, Homeworld is damaged, White appears to be using her powers, and White appears to be "holding" something. White Diamond is holding Homeworld together.
From all of this we can gather that White Diamond represents life itself. White represents God because she is the creator of gemkind and she gave gems life. White represents the stars, upon which gemkind is dependent as they are composed of starlight. White represents Homeworld because she either A) has a psychic connection to it which causes it to share with her any injuries with which she is afflicted, or B) is at least the only thing keeping it from blowing up, meaning that gemkind depends on her for life.
But why is this information important? Like ya, White Diamond is God anybody could've guess that.
This is important because if White Diamond represents life, then White Diamond cannot be killed. Actually, it's more extreme than that, so let me rephrase; the Crystal Gems cannot do so much as kick White Diamond in the fucking shins. If White were to fall on her ass, the entirety of gemkind would be obliterated (excluding Bismuth, Peridot, Lapis, and any stray Rubies floating in space). This means that White holds absolute power over gemkind. She isn't just oppressive because she's big, angry, and scary. She's oppressive because if you rebel against her, you and your people will be obliterated against your will, against her will, and without question. The entire purpose of the Crystal Gems is to rebel against the Diamonds and end their oppression, but the Crystal Gems CAN'T do that. They can't shatter White. They can't bubble her. They can't touch her.
So what if they didn't attack her?
What if they healed her?
