Which Reader am I? Contest
Planning
A) Discover books, series, and genres that school staff and teachers enjoy.  Also find out if they read print or electronic materials, or if they are an audio fan.  Use these areas to build out a list for each.
B) Schedule time to either snap their pictures or use their school yearbook photos to print and have for display.
C) List of book titles for purchase to use when a student wins.
  Promotion
A) Discussion in library classes the week before beginning – use librarian, library aide, and student library aides to explain the process.
B) Post to library Google Site and on our hallway TV slideshows.
C) Have book selection displayed so students will know what they’re working toward.
  Preparations
A) Create a Google Form to ask teachers their reading choices – favorite book, genre, fun facts, favorite author, ebook/print/audio preference).  Export to Excel/Sheets to have a compiled list to sort as needed.
B) Have pictures printed and cut to size for the poster.  Use Velcro to change out readers.
C) Poster hanging at main library entrance close to circulation desk with container, paper slips, and writing utensils.
D) Begin purchasing titles of interest or high request at discounted rates (use activity fund for purchases or see if PTO wants to help sponsor).
E) Have library aide, student aides, or volunteers help prep future selection sheets for printing and cut images of teachers.
  Procedures
A) Any information will be handwritten in these areas to see who knows they're teachers. All grades are allowed to participate or those who feel that they really know their teachers.
B) Students will pick up a slip, write their name, homeroom teacher, and make selections after reading the clues.
C) Draw from the container: first 3 students to have all three selections correct win a free book.
Payoff
A) Encourage book selection, promotion, and competition.  Students can share title ideas to purchase for future “Which Reader am I?” displays.
B) My hope is that conversations will happen because of this – conversations with their teachers about reading, topics, characters, when/how often they read, etc.
*This can be a year-long activity, a grading period, or a daily activity – perhaps there are multiple posters in the library, cafeteria, and any other common area that can be maintained in the mornings for submissions and winners are announced at the end of the day.
