Why did the author kill you off?

The Turning Point

ㅤMaybe the hero was reluctant- too reluctant, at that. They assumed that they could protect their loved ones, keep them out of trouble, that no matter how cruel the villain could be, surely they wouldn't harm you. But they were wrong. The price for their hubris? Your life. Now your blood stains the ground and their hands, and the plot rushes towards the climax, with our hero having nothing left to lose. Or maybe you were the secondary antagonist, a relatively small thorn in the side of our heroes, who finally took things one step too far. The heroes struck you down, thinking it would end their problems. But they hadn't expected the Big Bad to retaliate. Honestly, you wouldn't have expected it either. Who would have thought that you meant so much to the villain? They never had a chance to tell you... and now someone has to pay. They will all pay.
