furina is the successful version of what they tried to do (and completely fumbled with shitty writing) with ei, and thats why theres so many parallels with inazuma and fontaine characters
#i was thinking specifically of the posts paralleling wanderer and furina but there's others if you dig#they wanted ei/raiden's story to be of an archon who took on another's identity#and they wanted her to start out opposite to the player/traveler but at the end pull off a major twist that endears her to the players#and makes her innocent of her crimes#but they completely fumbled and rushed the end of inazuma and started out ei's story quest immediately with undeserved simping#they tried to gaslight players into thinking ei was already redeemed and already had character growth like bitch what the fuck#furina tho worked because they put in more effort into building her up and giving us chances to interact with her#and her backstory was more than just some rando coming up to us and going “oh yeah shes actually nice shes my bestie so dont kill her”#actually i would love to talk about the contrasts between neuvi+yae and knave+signora as foils to furina+ei but thatd get too long
