#they really said 'we will show the brutality of violence when you're at the peak of your interest'

I love how most Arcane fights go "oh you're having fun? Is it fun to see all these cool power ups? Do you love people hitting each other? Are you smiling? Jayce was having fun too but now he killed a child. Are you still having fun?"

Dear author, I love "cast your net, reel your lines" and I was wondering if you could share some backstory/director's commentary on the following passage: "She’s dripping, soaked in blood as she stalks towards the man, yanking his head up by his hair. “Sasuke.” She snarls, a death sentence. “Call off your men or I will kill you and slaughter them.” The man laughs at her, blood spewing from his mouth. Sakura doesn’t (1 of 2)

HI BIRK!!!!!! i always get so excited seeing you in my inbox, you're like a Giant of the nart fandom so aaaaaa :'DD
oh man cast your net, reel your lines (did you find what you are fishing for?) seems like the fan favorite today LOL
lets get into it >:))
okay so to answer your question first!
The ongoing Senju/Uchiha conflict is very briefly mentioned (like blink you miss it kinda) and that was completely on purpose. I wanted to give the world more depth and a more touchable feeling by having a pressing background conflict, but that isn't a driving point in the main story.
This is a story about Kisame and Sakura and acceptance.
In the first drafts the fic was from Sakura's POV and began with her (being on the Senju's side) and Sasuke fighting on a cliff, she ends up wounding him and he's able to drive her off the cliff, hence why Kisame finds her in the ocean.
So, in this fic Sakura and Sasuke are pretty much mortal enemies, which is why they know each other by name. This is all vv subtle and not really relevant to the fic, but i love world building so i'm gonna tell you all the Things HAHAHA
Sasuke ends up coming when he does because the Senju and Uchiha conflict is still going on and I was playing off Sasuke's inherent craving for vengeance, so he's looking for the only person he couldn't truly kill.
Everyone thought Sakura, the great Jade Demon, was dead. Sasuke knows better (in my head, he refers to her as a roach because nothing seems to keep her down). He searches, listens to gossip, and finds her, starts wrecking shit.
Sakura by nature is possessive and protective and greedy (i love these things about her) so at the threat to her new home, to her found family, she reacts the only way she knows. Which is to kill it, hence:
She’s dripping, soaked in blood as she stalks towards the man, yanking his head up by his hair. “Sasuke.” She snarls, a death sentence. “Call off your men or I will kill you and slaughter them.”
The man laughs at her, blood spewing from his mouth. Sakura doesn’t give him another moment before dropping his head onto the dirt road and stomping down hard. The bones in his neck crunch under the impact.
okay so that part is a little graphic, but i love writing gritty violence (and the juxtaposition of this fluffy, cracky fic and then all of suddenly DEATH AND GORE??? ugh chef kiss), and Sakura here is very gritty and violence LOL
She's giving him a chance, something she wouldn't have done (and in the first drafts we would have had a nice parallel but it didn't quite fit so i took it out), Sasuke doesn't take it because he's Sasuke, so she kills him.
Another reason why I wanted his death to be gruesome and quick was to give a little sneak peak into what shinobi life is like in that world. It isn't like canon, this is dark and cruel and messy.
Huge theme within all my fics is acceptance, understanding, mirrors, blurring, ect. And like i said above, acceptance is my main bitch in this.
Acceptance in the way that this is who that person is, they have let me see all of them, every dark and monstrous thing they've kept hidden. And despite how sharp their soul is, I will hold them in my hands and bleed, because I love them and I wouldn't dare try to change them.
So, by having Kisame see Sakura be brutal and cruel and harsh, he sees a part of her that he hasn't. But, he doesn't shy away, he knows Sakura, this is just a new side of her that she's decided to show him. She trusts him and he loves her, that's all he needs to know.
She blinks innocently up at him, “I thought you liked Uchihas,”
YES this is EXACTLY what you think it implies HAHAHAHA okay so i briefly mention that Kisame isn't exactly straight (bc i just really love the thought of characters being queer in a way that doesn't make a huge different to their character. like real people, yes they're gay/bi/queer but its also just a Thing, you know? so by mentioning it in passing its like a "hey! this guy fucks all the people!" LMAO)
He has yet to leave her side since he brought her home a week ago, the entire clan being thrown into chaos at the sight. And mind you, it was not the fact Kisame had a bleeding and half dead woman in his arms, no. It was because Kisame brought home a girl.
Apparently there had been a bet going on that he’s gay, which. Isn’t wrong per say. But also not exactly right either. Either way, Maho lost three hundred coins while Eimi won five hundred.
so its implied that Kisame has had relations with someone (who is an Uchiha) and my HC is that it was Itachi (who takes no part in the Uchiha/Senju conflict, he just wanders around and tries to find the peace he's craving). I just love references to other ships and past relations bc it just makes the character more 3D. Yes they had a life before their love interest, and they will continue that life with their SO by their side.
Okay that was. A LOT LMFAO thank you so much for coming and asking me Birk!!!! there's a lot about this fic that never made it into the posted draft so getting to take about the background stuff and the thought that went into this was so much fun :DDD
