Who is he talking to? In all fairness this line could be for Nicki, Armand, or ofc Louis, as all three of them lived in darkness & self-hate, while Lestat insisted on living in the bright light of hope and joie de vivre.

We finally see Loustat fighting in their bedroom upstairs. They're moving AWAY from the hidden coffin room door, towards the fireplace--so we'll HOPEFULLY see what went down IN the coffin room itself that left that huge dent on the top of Louis' coffin.

And ofc they cut from the Loustat fight to the WAR again, Louis & Claudia running from the bombed up building that we've seen before.

Fanged angry Lestat losing a fight against Armand; you love to see it.

LOOK AT THAT REVENANT!! OMG!

We get another shot of Madeleine (acting?) on stage at the Theatre.

Why does he look so scared/concerned? Is this the Trial? Or something else?

Well, OBVIOUSLY he should know from the tapes at least SOME of what happened--he was "being disrespectful," demanding that Louis turn him into a vampire; Louis said NO; Daniel insulted him; Louis bit him. But WTF happened with DEVIL'S MINION?!

That's NICKI (with his hands), so this is before Lestat leaves him w/ Armand & the Theatre. The question is: is that the same trenchcoat Lestat wore when he carried that Jesus Piece into Armand's lair?

OMFG Madeleine's a JEW!?! O_O That's a whole Swastika spraypainted on her window! No wonder Rolin said they were doing something different with her to give her a reason to join Louis' coven/family!

VERY clever cut from Madeleine smashing the swastika on her window, to Daniel amidst the broken bookshelves--is this confirmation that Daniel's Jewish too?

I am SO confused about this woman--I mentioned last time that we see her IN the Theatre. But I had assumed she was an Eastern European revenant. WHO is this chick!?

Interesting transition, cuz I still have no idea who this lady is either.

PLEASE do, Louis; the suspense is KILLING me! This looks so dang good! I'm gonna be a MESS on May 12th, omg I'm so excited.

Gone

Time for the end of the Smashed/Wrecked/Gone episode trio in Buffy. Let’s see what we get here!

1. Previously On, then the dumping Willow’s stuff into a box. All of Willow’s magic stuff. I know this is supposed to remind me of a recovering alcoholic clearing all the booze out of the house, and it does, but it’s also disconcertingly reminiscent of about a dozen Chick tracts. You know, Chick tracts? The little evangelical Christian comic strips that promise you that if you engage in alcohol, drugs, witchcraft, Dungeons & Dragons, Neopaganism, psychiatry, Islam, or Catholicism you will almost certainly die messily and, if you don’t repent, you will go to Hell? Yeah, this scene makes me think of those. At least the people look like people instead of like whatever it is Jack Chick draws. Willow was hiding crystals in a peacock. Buffy will deliver them to Tara. Dawn doesn’t want to get rid of Kokopelli the Fertility God. And Buffy finds Spike’s lighter in the sofa while talking about the possibility of giving into temptation. “And that would be bad.”

2. The Trio have their diamond. They’re putting it on a gun thing. It’s big. The gun is clunky looking. Creepmeister shoots a chair with it. The chair is gone. Andrew and Jonathan go to where the chair was, and Jonathan sits on it. Creepmeister makes the chair reappear. So they have an invisibility ray. Opening credits. No Tara.

3. Dawn has to eat breakfast before Xander gets there. Willow is making breakfast. She’s not going to class, but is shaking some. Dawn didn’t hear Buffy call. Dawn doesn’t want Willow’s omelet. Or to talk to Buffy. Willow asks why Dawn is taking her anger out on Buffy when it was Willow who fucked up; Buffy says she let it happen. Then a bunch of smoke comes through the door followed by Spike under a blanket. He was out for a stroll. In the day. He wants his lighter back. Buffy lies about it. Willow is going to get dressed. Buffy calls him lame for making up excuses. Buffy wants him to stop calling her love. He’s getting creepy. Er. Creepier. Buffy wants to have sex with Spike, but doesn’t want to want to. Xander comes in and immediately insults Buffy without knowing he’s doing so. And here’s someone from Social Service, who had an appointment with Buffy for Wednesday. And Spike’s in the living room. Spike is trying to talk Buffy up. And failing. Spike is leaving. Buffy says it’s just her and Dawn living there, then Willow calls down about taking a nap, so the woman… you know what, this is just really, really embarrassing and I hate it. Anyway, the woman is recommending immediate probation where she’ll monitor Buffy constantly and strip Buffy of guardianship of Dawn if things don’t improve. Buffy is throwing Spike out of the house. He takes his lighter out of her pocket before he leaves.

4. Buffy slams the door of her room and is crying and pacing and wringing her hands. She gets a pair of scissors out and is cutting her hair short. She is now at a hairstylist’s asking to be made “different.”

5. The Trio has the invisibility gun. Andrew sees Buffy leaving the stylist. They overloaded the gun and shot Buffy and the tree with it. So now we have an invisible Slayer.

6. Xander and Anya are planning seating arrangements for the reception at the Magic Box. Anya wants to invite D’hoffryn. Invisible Buffy comes in and agrees with Anya. Xander can’t see her. Xander asks if she’s been feeling ignored lately. Anya thinks Buffy’s new hairdo sounds cute. Buffy starts tossing a magic ball up and down so they can tell where she is while she talks about her day. She’s being two floating balls now. Now she has a skull. Xander’s going to go check out where Buffy disappeared. Buffy’s going to go for a walk to clear her head. To clear her head. Xander doesn’t think she’s taking this seriously. Xander and Anya think Willow turned Buffy invisible.

7. Willow is instinctively using magic, but stops when she realizes. The diamond has magic quantum powers. Xander is talking to Willow about relapse. And Buffy being broken. Xander is bad at this. Willow is going for a walk too. Xander inspires that today.

8. The Trio talking about invisible Slayer.

9. Buffy steals a hat because it’s a bad fashion idea. Someone’s getting a parking ticket. Buffy stole the parking patrol vehicle. And now she’s at the Department of Social Services. And tormenting a well-intentioned, overworked bureaucrat. Poor Doris. Doris has left her desk and Buffy is sitting down and typing on the computer. Doris comes back, and has a meeting to discuss the Summers file. The Summers file is here. And… Buffy typed “All work and no play makes Doris a dull girl” into the file. Over and over. Shining-style. Doris is being sent home for the day and being told to see a doctor. Buffy just ruined that woman’s life for trying to do her job.

10. Willow has spraypaint and is painting something where Buffy disappeared. There’s an invisible fire hydrant. It was hit by a black van. And they found a traffic cone. Willow is doing forensic work.

11. Spike has a haunting. He thinks there’s a beastie in his crypt. He wants it to haunt the living. Buffy is beating him up… and tearing his shirt open. And… blowing him? I think blowing him.

12. Xander and Anya are doing research. And… the cone is coming apart at a quantum level. It feels like pudding. This is bad news for Buffy.

13. Creepmeister is fixing the gun. He explains that this is going to kill Buffy. Andrew’s comic reference sucks. Jonathan is demanding that they save Buffy once the gun works. I don’t think Creepmeister is going to help him do that.

14. Xander is at Spike’s. The place is wrecked by invisible sex. Xander finds Spike in bed fucking nothing. Now he’s doing pushups. Xander does not tell Spike the important news. Spike complains. Buffy says she’s free. Spike is asking her to leave. She’s blowing him again.

15. Willow is working at the DMV kiosk. Fighting the urge to magic the kiosk. She almost gives in but doesn’t. She gets the info she wants.

16. Spike threw Buffy out. She’s complaining about that. Buffy’s home, but nobody else is. Buffy is getting food. Dawn comes in. Late. Buffy is invisible still. Dawn is creeped out. Dawn is very creeped out. Dawn can’t see Buffy. Dawn leaves the room. There is a message on the machine from Xander. Now Buffy knows.

17. Willow found Creepmeister’s house. Or at least his van. She’s going down to the basement. There’s the design for the ray. With the diamond. And there’s the ray itself, but not the diamond. Creepmeister is invisible and has taken her hostage.

18. And Buffy’s phone is ringing. She answers. Jonathan is calling. He wants Buffy to meet them alone.

19. Arcade. Buffy is there. She found Willow. Creepmeister is holding Willow. Andrew and Jonathan were playing a fighting game, but now they’re helping Creepmeister. Willow sees that Creepmeister is trying to kill Buffy. And we get the least impressive fight scene the show’s ever had… they’re not even wrecking the place… ah, there we go. Willow gets the gun. Just one machine broken so far. And now Buffy and Jonathan are visible. She knows who the Trio are. Buffy doesn’t remember the school play, but she remembers Tucker. The Trio uses a smoke pellet to try to escape, but they run into a locked door. A security guard distracts Buffy long enough for the Trio to escape.

20. Willow and Buffy are sitting on the curb, talking about how hard their day was. Buffy tells Willow about Dawn’s freakout, but not about Spike. She does say that she got scared when she found out she was going to die, which is an improvement. They don’t look happy. Episode end.

Overall: Buffy is a character-focused drama. It doesn’t WORK if I don’t like the characters. This episode started the process of potentially making Willow someone I could like again, though her abuse of Tara was sufficiently awful that I’m not sure that’s not a lost cause.

Buffy, on the other hand, psychologically tortured a well-intentioned public servant and almost certainly cost her a job that she’d devoted herself to for years. Then she had more self-destructive Spike sex.

And that just about sums it up, doesn’t it?
