Colt usually was not bad with directions, but it also helped when people wrote down their addresses correctly. He was supposed to be dropping a recently-repaired car back at the owner's home, but it seemed they had not written down the address right, because he definitely could not find a house at the address given to him. So he had finally pulled into the first business he saw--a dance studio--and went inside to see if anyone could help him with the directions.
"Hey, uh, was jus' wonderin' if I could ask a question," he began, then nodded at her reply and said, "Oh yeah, no rush." He was not in a terrible hurry. As long as he got the car back by evening, it was fine.

Free was Stuart's favorite word, so even if all the Halloween and carnival festivities were not really his thing, he certainly accepted the offered mug of apple cider. "That's nice of you, dear. More people should be so generous." He was not referring to himself, of course. More like the people blatantly overcharging for food and drinks in this town. "Are you giving out drinks to everyone, or are you just taking pity on a poor old man?" He almost chuckled at the idea of anything about him being poor, but he did still appreciate the gesture, at any rate.

after months away, becky had returned home from her time travelling. she had decided to take the trip when it had come close to the anniversary of jimmy's passing and jumped at the opportunity to be away from people who would look at her with pitying eyes.
ince she had settled back into her her and stopped by her parents place where tj had also visited, becky decided it was time to see her best friends. she shot nani a text and arranged a lunch and a classic best friend catch up over at third street. in the restaurant, becky sat at her preferred booth and sipped away on a vodka soda to pass the time.
"nani!" she grinned when she saw her, getting up from the table and rushing to hug her "how are you?"

Tiana leaned against the wall of the Enchanted Rose Cafe and ran her hand through her braids. “Look over there,” she told her friend Nani, gesturing to a man walking a small dog wearing a jacket. “Dog with a jacket.”
Tiana liked to come to Nani with her business questions, like “how long does it take for someone to actually open a business” and “how do you know something’s a good idea for the business and not a risky one.” Today she and Nani were discussing new places in town and places they’d heard could close soon.
“The cool thing is, I have a lot of good reasons to be confident,” she said contentedly. “My restaurant might close after a couple years, it’s true. But my friends lately have been so encouraging about my ideas. I really think this place could survive.” Tiana took a sip of the lemonade she’d bought after her waitressing shift. “Nani, you’re one of the coolest people I know. Tell me what you think. We both know that Ohana is the best. And other dance studios just wouldn’t cut it. So if some other dance place opened in Redwood, do you think they’d end up shutting down sooner or later? Because like Ohana, all the food places in town right now are rock solid, I’m telling you. They’re not closing their doors anytime.”

The bar was jumping and Patrick really had no idea why. Sometimes it was as if everyone in the town collectively decided they were all going to have a night out at Mount Olympus, and while he didn’t mind that, it did mean he would have to deal with the raucous.
“Mrs Hasagawa, get off the table” he hollered from the bar “I don’t care how good your hip is, get off the damn table. Paxton wouldn’t let you do it, why are you lying?” he argued back with her, laughing throughout the discussion “Maureen, stop encouraging her!” he warned with no serious threat behind it. He didn’t care what anyone said, it was the senior citizens around here that partied the most. And speaking of partying, a familiar face had found its way to stand in front of him at the bar.
“Well, well, well...” he grinned, loving every minute of it “Look who’s finally resurfaced. What can I get for you, Nani? A drink? Paracetamol? A bag of frozen peas to sit on?”

Paxton is the eldest of the Patterson brothers by two years. Even now he sees himself still looking after his little brother at times. They are in their thirties and they are still wrestling and causing chaos when they’re together. Being the older sibling, a lot fell on Paxton. He and his brother were on the streets growing up and it wasn’t until they met Hayden that things changed. Paxton started working for Hayden and with the money we was earning, Paxton could use it for he and his brother. Paxton is loyal to the very depth of his bones but his loyalty will always lie most with his brother first and then Hayden.
Being in the role that he is in now, Paxton is often used as the brawn. He was the one that would kick off a fight and end it without any damage. But with the power and the doors that got opened while working for Hayden, Paxton has developed a habit of being reckless in situations. He’s very much a punch first, think later kind of guy and that works for him. He’s a bit of a pretty boy. He knows he looks good and he works out daily in the gym to keep himself in peak physical condition. Paxton is happy to fight for the cause as long as it doesn’t bust up his face.

Either Nani is jealous of someone who had been eyeing Paxton up at the bar, or she misconstrued a look from Paxton to someone else as potential flirting and honed in on that poor person instead of calling Paxton out, because she’s totally not jealous or anything. Paxton is none the wiser because he’s only being civil to whoever approached him and he’s clearly only got eyes for Nani, not that Nani is aware

Grew up in New York city, living there for the majority of her life before bouncing around. She had roots there- real, deep, connections- and then she left. And decided to never do that again, thank you very much!
Ended up in Redwood Hollow after drifting for what felt like forever. There was something almost comforting about just how homey, ‘know your neighbour’, it is here. It feels like she could really be a part of something- if she wanted to.
Loves to dance and kiss pretty people before never calling them back! She was really just trying to chill out and look hot, to be perfectly honest. Never dwell too long on things that might hurt her feelings- the usual stuff.
When Halloween happened and she got a batch of the Bad PepsiTM, it gave her a big ole dose of existential crisis. She knew everybody, she had so many friends (right?) and she had people that cared about her (right?). She let people care about her and know her, right? Wrong.

Gwen considered herself to be a very healthy person. She always got the most organic, most ethically sourced food she could find, and never dared to eat anything processed. However, it seemed that she had spent so much time focusing on her diet, that she’d let exercise fall to the wayside.
She supposed part of it had to be the transition from city to town life. Living in DC, she had walked everywhere she needed. While Redwood Hollow certainly wasn’t large, it was rather difficult to get anywhere without a car, especially living in the suburbs. Without that constant, daily exercise, she could feel her muscles fatiguing. Just carrying the holiday decorations up to the attic was enough to make her muscles sore for days! It simply wouldn’t do.
The gym was not her style and while warming up, the weather was not consistent enough for her to be jogging. It had taken her quite the search around town to find something that she thought would suit her, but she finally honed in on something. Now all she needed was the equipment. “Nani?” She called out from the closet that she was rummaging through. “Do you have a yoga mat I could borrow?”

Originally hailing from France, Babette lived a fast paced lifestyle and decided that it was time to move for a fresh start and in hopes of finding a town that she can settle in for the rest of her years. She found Redwood Hollow and enjoyed the atmosphere. Babette found a job at the Enchanted Rose Café and it was there that she met some of her nearest and dearest as well as finding it a good way to get her bearings of who else lived in the town.
She’s a social butterfly who thrives in lively environments. She enjoys offering her fashion tips and sharing all the gossip with her friends and is happy to have found people that she fits in with. Babette is independent but she is a romantic at heart. She and Victor Lumiere have an on and off relationship and she finds herself feeling jealous whenever someone gets close to him – particularly women. As much as she’s a cheerful and friendly, Babette does have her moments where she can be vain and a gossip. She’s trying to smooth out that habit but it’s definitely a work in progress.

through town gossip he he knew that nani was likely in the same predicament as him and in a last ditch attempt to save face, he reached out to her.

becky had been a recluse since she woke from her coma. not leaving her home for much other than work or general grocery shopping. she did briefly make an appearance at the la bouff new year bash but she was gone as quick as she had arrived.
having being pestered by her nearest and dearest, she made the effort to attend the ball. becky supposed being social wouldn’t do her any harm, she had people around here to keep an eye on her and it wasn’t like fate would be as cruel as to strike twice, right?
entering the masquerade, she worked her way round the room looking for nani and babette. she spotted the frenchwoman across the room with her partner, but there was no sign of nani until she turned towards the bar.

Fawn turned away from the young woman for a moment, and plopped a big bag of wholewheat flour in her shopping cart. “A lot of people know the little trick of replacing butter in your baking by using mashed bananas, mashed apples... But they got too strong of a taste, you know? I try to use coconut oil whenever possible, but the proportions aren’t easy to parse, that I can tell you,” she laughed, tossing a bag of chia seeds along with her other purchases.
If the dance instructor she was talking with had any questions or, really, anything at all to say about this, Fawn wouldn’t know. Her own sisters were sick and tired of listening to her talking about vegan baking, and she was itching to talk to someone about her new discoveries.
She usually bought her groceries at the little organic store a few blocks away from the park, but they were closed for the holidays. Still, Fawn was anything if not resourceful. “Everyone wants to do anything for their health, up to and including accepting mediocre-tasting snacks just because it doesn’t spike their cholesterol count. But I think that’s poppycock! Why shouldn’t you get to have something that doesn’t poison your body, and also actually tastes like something you would enjoy eating?”
