The smell of coffee overtook his senses as he sat in the coffee shop across from his girlfriend, Midoriya finding peace in sipping his drink and watching her work on her paperwork. He studied ever inch of her face as though he could never get enough of looking at her. The small curve of her lips downward was present as she stayed focus on the work set out before her on the table, eyes crinkled ever so slightly as she was trying to remember back to a job she went on the other day. A stray strand of hair fell from where it was pinned back and he watched her automatically set it back in place while remaining undisturbed.
“What are you staring at Izuku? It’s distracting,” Uraraka’s voice broke him out of his daydream, somehow knowing that he was watching her despite the fact that she never looked up from her reports. Chuckling, Midoriya simply took another sip of his drink and started to look around the cafe, looking at nothing specifically but rather at the scene as a whole.
Busy would be an understatement but despite that, the murmurs of the customers are not overwhelmingly loud. Occasionally, the sputtering if the coffee machine could be heard over the chatter. There was no chaos there today, the noises made by the machines and the people playing a type of rhythm that provided a nice song in the background and allowing for people to focus on work as needed.
Only Midoriya couldn’t focus, but it has nothing to do with his surroundings. The small, black velvet box that was tucked inside his jacket pocket was like a heavy weight on his mind. He decided that today would be the day, that the ring would finally be freed of its confines of the box he’d had stored away in a cabinet back home for weeks. It would finally be placed on the finger of the woman he loves, well, that is if she says yes. There was no doubt in his mind that she would say no but the nerves still were eating away at him.
He slipped his hand into his jacket pocket, fiddling with the small box as his mind traveled back to the first moment he knew he was in love with Uraraka. They were at the same cafe, in the same seats as they were now, a table in the back corner that they knew as ‘their table’. Once he started to remember, it was almost as if he was teleported back in time to three years ago when they were barely a year out of UA. The sounds and smells were so similar as they were back then, even what they were doing.
At the time, they were dating for around a year and Midoriya knew that he loved her and has told her multiple times already at that point, but as they sat across from each other, sipping their coffees and talking about nothing in particular, he was hit with one singular thought.
I’m going to marry her.
The ring was bought a year later and now, two years after that, he was finally going to propose. All the reasons he waited to ask her the question seemed irrelevant now. There was no more “we’re too young” or “we need to solidify our hero careers and agencies first”, only the need deep inside of him that told him to do it, that he couldn’t wait any longer.
“Hey, Ochako,” he started quietly, trying to make sure he didn’t stutter through possibly one of the most important questions of his life, earning the attention of the other. As she looked up from her work and looked at him in the eyes, he felt his heart stutter as if it was like the beginning again. Swallowing hard, he felt his hands start to sweat as he gripped the box harder, bouncing his knee, a bad habit he picked up whenever his nervousness grew strong.
When he didn’t say anything else right away, he saw the other’s face contort into a look of confusion. “Is everything okay Izuku?” The simple question seemed to calm Midoriya down slightly, the sound of her voice a soothing noise that broke through the echoing and growing doubt in his mind.
With a small smile and a determined look in his eyes, Midoriya reached out one of his hands, laying it across the table and grabbing one of hers as well, looking deep into her deep brown eyes. The confusion on her face only grew and Uraraka opened her mouth to say something when Midoriya beat her too it. “Ever since the moment I met you, I knew you would always be special to me.” As he started the speech he had mentally rehearsed for weeks, realization dawned on her face and once she looked at him with wide, hopeful eyes, he knew everything would be okay. “You’ve been with me through thick and thin, supported me when no one else did, and there is no one in this world whom I love more than you so, Uraraka Ochako,” slipping his hand out of hers and pulling the ring out of his pocket, he got out of his seat and down on one knee in front of her. He heard a gasp come from above and looked up to see the other covering her mouth with tears threatening to come out of her eyes. “Will you ma...r...ry...m..-“ his word trailed off as he saw something out of the corner of his eye, looking towards the front of the cafe where large windows gave clear view of the street. What he saw made his face pale and he pushed off of the ground with all of his might, quirk activating in the process and he jumped towards Uraraka, arms wrapping around her waist as he ran with such speed and power to the front of the shop.
They had made it outside just in time before an explosion destroyed the entire building, causing the ground to shake and for smoke to fill the air.
Gently, he let go of Uraraka, looking over her quickly to make sure nothing had hurt her. “Ochako, are you okay?” he questioned, relieved when she nodded her head and stood up next to him. Both looked around at the chaos taking over the streets, watching as civilians ran screaming in panic, as car alarms blared. More buildings collapsed around them and Midoriya flinched at the sound, trying to find the source of the destruction. He caught sight of five of them, about half a block away, walking towards the two of them. Turning to Uraraka, he saw that she noticed them too. “You take care of rescue and I’ll take them down alright?”
WIth a nod, she began to run to the nearest building to see if she could save anyone who was trapped. “Stay safe,” she called back to him and he responded in kind, heart falling at the thought of what could happen to her. However, he knew that she was strong and that she could take care of herself but he still couldn’t help but worry about her.
Another small explosion reminded Midoriya about why he was there, turning back forward to face the villains with gritted teeth. They were slowly making their way down the street towards him, the one in front seemingly leading all of them and setting off small bursts of what he deduced to be compacted energy that destroyed the buildings on the side of the road. A second, larger man created cracks in the ground with every step he took, shaking the street and causing some people to fell over as they ran.
The panic around Midoriya was contagious but he refused to let himself get pulled into it. Taking a deep breath, he slowed his heart rate before feeling the pure energy of One For All coursing through his veins. He had long since mastered using his quirk at full power and it came as second nature to him now.
His speed was too fast for any of the villains to keep up as he ran towards them, taking out the three in the back first whom were having their fun attacking some of the random civilians. One hit was all it took before they were knocked unconscious, splayed out on the ground beside one another. As he went to take down the man in the front, he was knocked back a few yards buy the others quirk. Thankfully, he wasn’t pushed back too far, feet digging into the ground to maintain his balance as he looked up just in time to see a fissure grow in the concrete in front of him, approaching him quickly. Thankfully, he was able to jump out of the way and to the side, trying to quickly regroup as he analyzed the two villains.
The smaller seemed to signal something to the other, who just nodded and took a heavy step towards Midoriya. Yet another fissure was created, approaching him again but he moved out of the way, only he wasn’t able to get far before another blast collided with his gut, sending him flying back through the air even farther than before. Unfortunately this time he wasn’t able to land gracefully, hitting the ground and gasping as the breath was knocked out of his lungs.
Groaning, he pushed himself to sit back up, upper body sore at the impact and mentally praising the two villains intelligence. Normally, he was quick enough to dodge almost any attack, One For All making him impossibly fast and he knew that those two weren’t able to keep up with him either but he realized that they didn’t have to, instead working together to lead Midoriya into the desired path that the leader was going to send a blast too.
Wiping a little bit of blood from the corner of his mouth, he watched as they readied an attack again, only this time not waiting until the fissure were to reach him, pushing off and heading straight for the larger male. He felt a burst of energy collide with his left arm, grunting as his shoulder screamed out in pain, but still maintained his momentum and shouting before his fist collided with the larger male’s chest, sending him flying backwards, hitting the ground and falling unconscious.
Once Midoriya’s foot hit the ground, he pivoted and swung at the other male, punching him in the side, also sending him backwards into the rubble he had created. However, as soon as his fist made contact with the other’s skin, he was thrown back as well, as if all of the other’s energy was being stored and was released as soon as Midoriya punched him. The blast was much harder than any of his others and Midoriya was thrown back into one of the other buildings, feeling the sharp edges of the debris dig into his skin, eyes squeeze shut and teeth gritting together as he tried to outlast the pain.
After a few moments, he started to regain his senses, feeling scratches and stabs send stings of pain throughout his entire body as he slowly pushed himself up. Opening his eyes, his vision swam, black splotches covering most of his sight at first as he blinked it away, mind still hazy after the force of the impact. Standing, he stumbled over his feet and the rubble, feeling dizzy but trying to shake that away. Slowly, he started to feel a bit better and his vision returned to normal, allowing him to look around, confirming that all of the villains were knocked unconscious. Sirens were heard and were growing closer, Midoriya breathing in relief as he saw paramedics and the police getting closer.
The blast seemed to cause a lot more damage than he expected and even more smoke filled the air as he tried to look around to see what else he could do to help. It was then that he noticed Uraraka nowhere to be seen and the relief he felt turned to panic again.
“Ochako?!” He started to scream and run about the area, trying to find where he last saw her. “Ochako!”
“He..lp m..e plea..se” the choked out voice of a child and Midoriya whipped his head around but couldn’t find the child anywhere. However, he heard coughing come from underneath some of the rubble and Midoriya forwent his search to dig the kid out, lifting large piles of rubble until he found them but what he saw made his heart drop.
The child was only okay because Uraraka’s body was draped over him, her back shielding him from the debris.
With tears poking at the corner of his eyes, he forced himself to remain strong as he pulled them both out of the rubble, keeping Uraraka close to him as he set the child down. Quickly, he placed two fingers on her wrist, feeling a thready pulse but at least it was present. After, he turned to the kid. “Are you okay? Does anything hurt?” he asked the boy, who shook his head while crying.
“T-thank y-ou” he said between hics and sobs, gripping the sleeve of Midoriya’s tattered jacket. Kneeling down, he gave the child a soothing smile as he saw paramedics run towards them out of the corner of his eyes. He gave the boy to them but continued to hold Uraraka in his arms bridal style. “I got her, you take care of the other injured,” he told the paramedics, looking around the scene and seeing other rescue heroes working before activating his quirk and running in the direction of the nearest hospital, pushing his aching muscles and internally praying that he would make it on time.
The rhythmic beeping of the the monitors is the only thing that Midoriya heard as he sat completely still in the seat beside Uraraka’s hospital bed. Holding her hand, he refused to leave her side since she’d come out of surgery. The doctors said she was stable, a few broken ribs, a broken arm, fractured hip, and a good bit of internal damage was all patched up by the surgeons but he still refused to leave for even a moment.
It has been a little over a day and yet she had yet to wake up, which is what worried him. In that time, he hadn’t moved, just holding her hand and crying as he watched the monitors, the only indication that she was in fact still alive. Now, all he had to do was wait but that was the part that he wasn’t good at.
Eyelids started to droop but he forced himself to stay awake, laying his head down on the bed next to her thigh and looking up at her. His fingers traced small patterns onto the back of her hand, trying to tell himself that she was strong and that she would wake up and come back to him.
This was supposed to be the happiest days of their lives but so far, Midoriya has felt nothing but anguish, guilt, and unquenchable sadness.
A small groan came from her throat as she started to stretch and Midoriya sat straight up on the edge of his seat, watching her with hopeful eyes. Uraraka’s eyelids fluttered open, brown eyes looking around the room and the other let out a choked sob relief overwhelming him as he watched her slowly wake up. “I-Izu..ku?” her voice was hoarse and she coughed after speaking but the sound filled him with joy.
“Y-yes, I’m right here,” he said with a bright smile, tears streaking down his face as he pulled her hand up to his lips, pressing them against her skin. She smiled back at him, it was small but it still made his heart jump. “How are you feeling? Wait, stupid question you can’t be feeling well,” he started to mumble. “Can I get you anything? Water? The doctors? Oh I should probably tell the nurse.” He tried to stand but Uraraka gripped his hand harder, keeping him in place as he looked at her expectedly.
She was quiet for a moment, taking a few deep breaths and gulps, trying to reorient herself. Her mouth opened and closed as if she was trying to say something but couldn’t think of the right words. “A-ask me aga..in,” The demand confused Midoriya for a moment, looking at her with furrowed eyebrows when it clicked.
“O-oh,” he didn’t know what else to say, face turning a little red at her expected gaze while looking away sheepishly. “I, uh, lost the ring, I’m sorry.”
“The r-ring doesn’t m-matter,” she said, chest heaving as her breathing was still labored. Midoriya looked at her with wide eyes and a soft smile before sliding off the chair, kneeling on the ground next to the hospital bed. “Uraraka Ochako, will you marry me?” His voice broke and he coudn’t help but smile widely.
His smile only intensified, nearly splitting his face in two when Uraraka nodded and smiled, coughing again in the process. “Always,” she whispered and Midoriya stood up to lean over her, pressing a chaste kiss to her cheek first, the nose, then lips playfully, earning a small laugh from his now fiancée before he pressed his forehead to hers, looking into her eyes.
Now starts the happiest days of their lives.

Tumblr took out all the times I pressed return so I’ll fix it later
You mind was a dark hole of nothingness. Until a small light caught your attention, you walked towards it. “Kacchan! Stop it… y-you’re hurting him!” The green haired boy squeaked, standing in front of the victim despite his shaky, tiny body’s cries. The bullies laughed, explosions popping in Bakugous small palms. The rest of the dialogue was hard to understand, you came closer for a better look at the memory. Soon enough, your past self’s tiny legs kicked off of the park bench and came to his rescue. The emerald eyed boy’s face was horrified, you were going up against Bakugou, the older kid sent a big explosion your way. Terrified when you disappeared, no where among the excess smoke, he stumbled back. “Kacchan! Stop!” A little girl sent a flying punch to the back of the explosive boy’s head, reforming from smoke behind him, finally saving the day when she grabbed Izuku's hand to flee. You grinned, wishing you could just go back. You were giving him a hug and telling him to stop apologizing for being so weak. “Haha. Don’t be silly, silly! ‘That’s what friends are for!” Your eyes started to blink open.
You were hoping it was a dream. Praying you wouldn’t have to wake up to the disaster that had occurred. You opened your tired eyes. Well, on the bright side, you weren’t completely wrong. You had no clue of where you were. Expecting to wake up somewhere with at least decent lighting, maybe even the infirmary if you were lucky. Nope, definitely not. You started to panic, and reached out a hand to bring it up to near your face. You’d always twirled your hair as a way to calm yourself as a little girl, may as well give it a try, right. But your hand never made it to your hair, not even close. You tried again, it was no use. Whatever they’d bound your hands with was some kind of rope, not quite though…. and it was, damp? ‘That’s odd.’ you thought, being desperate, just for a way to stray your thoughts away from the crazy situation you were in. Otherwise you’d start REALLY panicking, for sure. Your thoughts were interrupted by a feeling of the scary presence behind you. You were ashamed to admit it, but you winced, squeezing your eyes tight, sending tension to varoius muscles of yours.‘Gee, what a hero.’ Sub-consciousness scolded you, quickly, you redeemed yourself, whipping your head around bravely. Just to meet those striking emerald eyes once again, stripping that short-lived feeling of redemption away from you immediately. He noticed your cautiousness, backing off a bit, then started to state the obvious. “There’s a couch right there you know.” He tilted his head, pointing towards the furniture, his casual attitude failed to defuse the situation though. You were sitting on the floor, tempted but not motivated to make any moves. You could probably dissipate into nothingness anytime you wanted to escape, so what’s the rush. The midst of battle wasn’t the best time for a conversation, maybe now you’d get a chance to chat, maybe even convert him to your side. You crossed your legs, glaring into his green orbs as an attempt of intimidation. You weren’t any less hurt than before, but some of that emotion overlapped with your curiosity. What did they do to him? How could such a generous, and heroic person suddenly be molded into the boy in front of you. You stood up.“Why are you doing this,” you bit your lip, he transferred some of his weight to the wall behind him, and quit fiddling with his jet black glove. He raised a brow and sighed, the emeralds in his eyes rolling and landing of you again. Was he giving you…. attitude? You’d never had to deal with him like this. You growled, taking a stomp forward, catching the smirk on his face, and sudden excitement dancing in his eyes. “You. You-” already stumbling over your words, sadly the door he must’ve entered from was swung open. Some playful looking girl with two blonde buns bouncily walked through the doorway,“Deku Deku Dekuuuuu! What in the world are you doing?” Her mischevious aura had a sociopathic odour to it, it frightened you. She stepped in further, tilting her head and dramatic gasped, smacking her hands to her cheeks.“Oh my! Izuku! Who is…. this?” She questioned, on paper the phrase is a greeting, but her tone made it sound more like a threat. Jealously was practically drippng from the last sentence, she’s only been here for seconds and something about her wasn’t sitting right with you at all. Then your eyes darted over to her right hand, she reached behind her to draw a weapon of some kind, you instinctively backed up, gaining space for your quirk. Gritting your teeth, you attempted your quirk, the light made the knife in her fingers glisten, she walked towards you pace quickening with each step. She giggled and then laughed harshly, then you realized something.Your quirk wasn’t working. You heart began beating out of your chest, breath quickening. Your keen ears heard your hands sizzle in defeat behind you. You couldn’t transform because your makeshift hand-cuffs were drenched! This is bad, every attempt had failed, smoke of your hands evaporating much too fast for proper use thanks to the liquid. Your back hit the wall before you even knew you’d been walking, sweat dripping off your fore-head, the girl with murderous intentions was grinning in your face now, flashing her pearly white canines at you.You hear a knife clatter onto the floor, your mind was blank. Before you’d even noticed him lean off of the wall, he was gripping the annoying the villains wrist. You backed off of the wall, getting a better look at the scene. She tore her her wrist away from him aggressively, it looked like that’d leave a bruise. “Man, Zuku-kunnn, don’t grip so hard.” she turned around and whined, Izuku narrowed his eyes.“That pathetic hero better not be your girlfriend.” She picked up the knife, her tongue lining the blade. “She definitely won’t last as long 'here’ that wayyy.” She glanced back at us, and continued to walk out of the room. Leaving you two shell shocked. 'Was she just flirting?’ You sure hoped so, or she really REALLY wanted you dead. You gulped, sighed, and hesistantly plopped down on the creaking sofa. This place obviously isnt a safe one, you wanted to know where the exit was, you guessed there was plenty more villains though. Unless that 'was’ his girlfriend…. you blinked, snapping yourself out of the stupid dilemma of jealously building up inside you. 'Who cares.’“Man, she was-….lovely.” You swallowed your anger, try to get an awkward conversation going. Awkward or not you wanted answers. You wanted to get him out of this. You wanted to leave together. You wanted-He scoffed, his expression seemed depressed, underneath the crossed arms and intimidating look. “M-Mind untying me?” He exhaled, looking to the side. Leaving the silence to fill the space between you two. It was your turn to sigh, “I’ll take that as a yes.” You voice was cracking, he hated how such a pretty voice, could hurt him so bad. You were breaking right in front of him. His face stayed aloof to the silent air, he approached you and gently grabbed your chin, faces only centimetres apart.“If I wanted to untie you I wouldn’t of done that in this first place.” He backed off turning away from you, his eyes travelled to your wrists. “Then why? Why’d you do it in the first place.” You sat up, determined, and narrowing your eyes. “Tell me exactly why you left everyone, All Might even.” You bit down onto your to tongue, tears daring to fall down your face. He couldn’t quite tell why, but his chest was aching, looking at your pitiful expression was making him…soft.“Tying me up, and stabbing me in the back." your dry, humorless laugh shocked him. “Silly me, 'that’s what friends are for.’ R-right?" The phrase itself caught him off guard, it was contradicting own it's own. He'd sworn he’d heard it before. A glistening tear slipped from your eye, and he wanted nothing more than to hold you. What was wrong with him? He was considering leaving you in the rubble, beside your friend and teacher. He was guilty enough, yearning to just leave. He couldn't get your expression out of his head. Unfortunately for you, Toga saw you two fighting, and decided you shouldn’t be left in 'one’ piece. Then Tomura Shigaraki butted in, and said he had better plans for you, along with stating you were a wittiness. This was the best option. He frowned, and trudged over to you, slowly untying your bounded wrists, and hovering his head over your shoulder almost to comfort you. To your surprise the rope dropped to the floor. “H-huh?” Slowly but surely, arms snaked around you waist, he brought you closer to him. “Join me.” It came out like an order, but the weird tint in his voice made you know he was pleading you. That’s the sad part, the sincerity in his voice was so enduring to you. He jumped, startled when you’d returned the hug, you guess, villains weren’t very used to getting any sort of affection. You shook you head in his shoulder, and stood up from the sofa he’d been hunching over for you. His curls tickled your neck.“Since when was being a 'hero’ so important to you anyways.?” “Since you’d given up on being one.” He squeezed tighter, that was the truth, you’d never wanted to be any kind of flashy. But for him, it had been everything at the time. “Come with me, please. Come home already.” Your arms shake once again under his secure stronger ones. You knew he’d been bad for a few years, but maybe he still had a chance. A fresh start, maybe for the both of you.“I can’t, just like you can’t, I don’t really have the option.” He buried his face in the crook of your neck. This worried you, they could’ve tortured him over the years, brainwashed him, or maybe just persuaded or tricked him. But judging from how tight he was holding right now, you guessed neither of you would be letting go anytime soon.
There this got way too long, sorry if the ends shitty but as always enjoy….
