Don't get me wrong, I understand why Hiyoko's specific brand of traditional dancing is implied to be in nihon buyō to emphasize her family history, the implication that the Saionji clan is a nihon buyō school and the pressure that puts on her, and the general vibe that she's being raised to become a geisha. But I'd kill for her specialization to be in the type of odomi dances used in festivals.

#this is not making any sweeping statements about the legacy of geisha btw. i have no qualifications on that #but i think For Hiyoko Specifically #the odori dances are so much more active and sillier and casual #in a way that i think nihon buyo just Isnt for her #and i think having a group dance instead of a dance focused on her takes a lot of the pressure off!#i am in fact researching for hiyokos playlist. and i am having to physically restrain myself from putting suzume odori on it #look it up its so fun!!#i'll always have my headcanon that hiyokos dad took her to festivals when she was a kid #danganronpa
