I realized I never posted this drawing here and since it's 15th anniversary of Friday the 13th remake, I think it's good opportunity to post it.

It has a very special meaning for me, soo... if you are not interested in my mumbling, you don't need to read the following text, just enjoy the drawing 😊

This art was made especially for For the love of horror, which I visited last November. It was a long journey and not exactly cheap one, but I'm really happy I decided to go.

I met so many amazing people, so many awesome cosplayers and of course the main reason, why without thinking, I bought the tickets and only after that I was trying to figure out how to get to Manchester (it's quite far from my country).. I met Derek himself! And even after those few months I still can't believe it really happened. I can't even express how happy I was, when I saw him. For real, he is the kindest person I have ever met! 🥹❤️

He gave each fan as much of his time as he could, because he wanted to be sure to make everyone happy and feel special and appreciated! Just seeing him interact with fans was a pure bliss!

I was so nervous, because my English is quite bad, but the moment he smiled at me and said Hello, how are you? , the worries were gone and I just talked to him like a friend. Even after all these years, he is still excited about his role as Jason and it was so endearing to see him talking about it so enthusiastically. He welcomed me in the horror family and we talked about our love for horror movies and of course about Friday the 13th.

At the end he hugged me and took a photo with me (he is so tall omg!!😳) and then he asked, what I want to have signed. I showed him this drawing and he was like "Oh my god, this is drawing? You did this? That's so cool! How did you do that?" I don't need to tell you how happy I was when I saw his reaction. And we spent another few minutes talking about drawing and art. He was so afraid of ruining it by signing it, it was so cute. 🥺

I also gave him one print as a gift, and he genuinely looked pleased. And then he gave me one extra signed poster for that! I couldn't believe it. What an incredible person! ❤️ What I heard from other fans, he was nice to them too and signed more than just one thing.

And the next day, when I went for the official photoshoot, he greeted me with big smile and "Oh hello again! How are you today?" I'm not sure if he really remembered me, but I felt special at that moment. 🥹

I asked him if I can hug him for the photo and he said Oh, of course! and gave me the warmest tightest hug ever. 😭

Such a sweet sweet man ❤️❤️

I would never have believed that I could meet some of my favourite slasher actors, because most of them are from US, which is far far away. I could only dream about that. But last year I saw several of them during two days and met two of them in person. Best decision ever!

Now when I feel sad or have mental breakdown, I remember this moment and it helps me to calm down. Because even if everything goes to shit, I will remember meeting and hugging Derek Mears, my favourite Jason and comfort character.❤️

And I also got a kiss from Michael Myers, but that's for another post. 🤭

Never stop believing in your dreams, because they can come true when you least expect it ♥

Something seriously lacking in my art is the ability to tell a story in a single illustration.

I've gotten so used to drawing my characters standing around doing random things that I've never practiced telling a full tale/putting implications into my pieces that require more thinking/looking.

It also comes from a lower amount of details in my works by default [since I like to get pieces done fast], but I'm tired of using that as an excuse.

#vent #kinda #sorry I'm just having a rough one tonight but I'll recover lmao #I think the AI art thing is really getting to me cuz like.#Anyone can make pretty images if they study and practice hard enough #[not to detract from people who don't tell stories with their images!]#but something in my brain wants to fight back because AI will never be able to Tell a Story through its images.#It can't make narrative choices through its regurgitation of random elements. It will never tell a cohesive and interesting tale through #detail choice #the worst it can do is create surface-level 'pretty' images by smashing together a bunch of mushed up information #but storytelling? that's human touch #that's intention. Thought. Choices.#and idk it's really bothering me lately that my images almost never... speaking as someone who really enjoyed Barbie, I just don't think Barbie is deep enough to warrant all the dramatic takes and arguments on it

#like it's a fun movie!#the production design is amazing #i'm all here to gush about the filmmaking and art dept on that film #but I feel like it's getting hyped way beyond what it is #a fun movie that manages to say something and be entertaining despite being another big studio film only made bc it's based on popular IP #like Greta did make something entertaining and worth watching #she did manage to say something and give it personality when so many IP movies are soulless and meaningless #but it's not the big evil manipulative marketing people complain it is #becuase literally.....everything greenlit by studios nowadays is tied to some kind of IP or brand or intended to sell you something #i didn't see these complaints over the lego movies #it's not to blame for launching a big pointless ip franchise bc even if barbie had bombed you KNOW the other mattel movies would have #probably happened bc IP matters way more than what audiences are actually interested in #but it's also not like a revolutionary feminist masterpiece??#it says something yeah but it's not really groundbreaking and it's pretty simple #and it's certainly not like....revolutionary enough for all the negative backlash though we all know something doesn't HAVE #to be truly revolutionary or progressive for that kind of crowd to get all up in arms over the Woke Agenda #it's just like #it is what it is #a movie that would have happened whether competent storytellers and filmmakers got on board or not and at least they made something #worth watching which I can't say of a LOT of IP greenlight decisions #it's jsut like #I enjoyed the movie and it was well made and I'm glad it's doing well but every time I see a new argument about it or take #I just want to be like #it's not that deep lol #that doesn't include just analysis and discussion of the movie #that's different #i mean more discussion like it's bad this movie did well bc it's just an overhyped commercial!!!#anyways got that off my chest lol #i still would have killed to work on set dec for that film
