In fifth grade we had lessons on Greek and Latin roots that we'd like, go through a unit in a book from every week, alongside grammar lessons and shit like that
We also read a book about the nastiest, deadliest diseases in the world
So I can bumblefuck my way through reading things written in Romance languages pretty well
Still not super clear on how leprosy works, though
#My comprehension for romance languages is by no means like. good. but again i can usually get the gist of things#fifth grade was a fun year#i also spent that year stealing large amounts of fluffy yarn from the supply room#we also learned a lot about brain stuff that year and my teacher had a newborn granddaughter who'd come in sometimes#and be our teaching tool for talking about brain development#that was also the year where in sex ed they sprung that fucking live birth video on us#Which I maintain they should have waited a few years on bc that shit was traumatizing
