Just finished watching To All The Boys I Loved 3: Always and Forever. It was ok but like . . . this felt very low stakes. Like . . . maybe it’s just bc I was in the closet to my family in high school but high school relationships do not seem that remarkable to me and the whole trope of like “Oh no we didn’t get into the same school! What’s this gonna do to our relationship?” is really played out and boring. I was really hoping that the focus would be on Lara Jean and her sisters’ relationship with Trina, Trina and their dad’s wedding, the changes in their house as Trina moves in and they come to terms with their anger over feeling like their mom is being removed from their home even though they know that’s not really what’s happening and they love Trina, and the feelings of disconnect to her Korean heritage that Lara Jean talked about in the first ten minutes. I get that it’s a a romance trilogy but that seems so much more interesting and compelling and maybe if you were really trying to focus on the romance you could’ve had more of an emphasis on Peter’s relationship with his father and him and Lara Jean confiding in each other showing that they also help each other learn how to better express themselves and become more mature.

how is Peter Kavinsky the epitome of a great boyfriend when he's literally just doing exactly what any boyfriend should do. The bare minimum.
