23rd – 25th May 2025 for the first A Nice and Accurate Convention

We have hit our first Milestone. We can announce 23rd – 25th May 2025 for the first A Nice and Accurate Convention. Now is the time to start planning your trip to Cardiff, like and follow to keep up-to-date. Our aim is for everything you need will be in the venue, with everything else only being a few minutes walk away. It’s easy to access and has great transport links for those coming from far and wide. Though we would love to announce the venue, there is still a lot of negotiation to get what we want from it. Our goal is to create a convention for the fans by the fans. We want you to turn up and immerse yourselves in Good Omens fandom for a weekend full of talks, quizzes, workshops, auctions, and maybe even some live entertainment. The founders want to make this weekend special and filled with memories you can look back on in years to come, and hopefully, you will make some new friends along the way. We have also been busy working on the Tadfield Advertiser, and Issue No.1 is out. It contains interviews with the Founders and info about what to expect from A Nice and Accurate Convention. Within the pages of the TadAd, you will find a serialised fanfic, and be able to catch up on the shenanigans going on post-apocalypse in the sleepy rural town of Tadfield. Every Day, It's a-getting Closer!

Every day, it's a-getting closer! We have just come back from our initial meeting with the venue. We have everything pencilled in, now comes the time for the negotiating hat to come out and get the best deal for all of us.

This venue is in the heart of Cardiff centre, a few minutes walk from the train station with plenty of bus access. With lots of shops, bars, and even a library nearby. As we negotiate, more details will be coming this weekend and over the coming weeks. So, stay tuned.

It's a Charity Thang!

With the 23rd – 25th May 2025 confirmed as the dates for A Nice and Accurate Convention, it’s time to have a consultation with your 2025 diary. If it’s free, then make a note to attend the convention. It will be a fun-filled weekend soaked in Good Omens, where you can share a great time with fans.

All profits will go to RICE (The Research Institute for the Care of Older People), which helped Terry in the twilight years of his life. RICE will also be attending the convention to help host our Charity Auction, so it’s a good chance to meet with the fantastic people who helped Terry.

The Founders are trying to make this a con with a difference, as it’s all about the fans, and giving them a chance to celebrate Neil Gaiman’s and Terry Pratchett’s characters as stories. So put on your best Aziraphale and Crowley and join us for a weekend in Cardiff.

If you haven’t already checked out our first issue of the Tadfield Advertiser then you should. It has news about A Nice and Accurate Con, fanfic, and a chance to catch up with the goings-on of post-apocalyptic Tadfield and its residents.

Tadfield Advertiser #001 (Everyday It's a Getting Closer)

In our first edition of the Tadfield Advertiser, we start to explore the post-apocalyptic landscape that is Tadfield and the surrounding area. We get to meet some of the people behind A Nice & Accurate Convention, though this is no desert island discs (That’s in the next issue). We get an insight into why this rag-tag bunch of misfits and strange people from across the globe want to run this convention and what they plan to do with it. One of the Founders has a strange fascination with cheese and classifies themselves as a permanently exhausted pigeon.

You can also find out what the residents of Tadfield have been up to, and what strange things have been happening to the sleepy rural town. And why is the large white horse floating a few feet off the ground?  We also hear the Witchfinders are recruiting again, after Shadwell's whirlwind wedding to Madam Tracy.

However not to take away from the big news of the weekend, that is we have the dates for the convention finalised. The 23rd – 25th of May 2025 will be the first A Nice and Accurate Convention, and we hope there will be many more in the future. Well, the Founder plans on doing more, and maybe even nipping across the pond to the good old US of A for a weekend of Good Omens Conventioning.

What do we Want! How do we Want it?

Now we have the 23rd – 25th May 2025 as our convention dates, we should talk a little bit about the Founder's ideas and philosophy when it comes to running this convention. Some of us are veteran congoers and organisers, others are new to this way of life. We all share a common belief that this con should be about the fans, about what makes fandom great, and celebrating our love for Good Omens. We want to create an atmosphere that is welcoming and accepting a place where you can forget about your daily life and indulge your love of Good Omens with other fans.

Some of our most memorable convention experiences have been making new friends, sharing cosplay tips, and discussing what just happened in that talk by that scruffy-looking weird chap. We want this experience and shared love of Good Omens to be the core of the convention. After all what is a story if it has no fans who support it and want to explore it more by sharing their love of it with others? The fans are the most important component of Good Omen, they bring it to life beyond the page and screen, and we want to celebrate you as much as the book and show.

This doesn’t exclude any named guests, but we must be realistic as this is the first Nice & Accurate Convention and we have no track record. It won’t stop us trying. We have had some interest from people working within the sphere of Good Omens. We are not counting our eggs just yet as we have a long way to go and a lot of work behind the scenes to make this convention happen.

With your help, we can make this a convention to remember. Your likes, shares, and comments are important as we need to impress the algorithms so more people can hear about this. So if you’re like us you want to make A Nice & Accurate Convention great then do what you and help get the word out there.

Things are afoot in the sleepy rural town of Tadfield. We hope this happens, and we are crossing all of our appendages that it tours the world.

Now the cat is out of the bag! We have opened up Discord with unlimited Invites. Come and join the budding community of Good Omens Fans and start making plans for Cardiff 23rd-25th May 2025. It will be the first place we post any convention information and where we will gather most of our feedback, so if you want to have a say in what goes on, join us on Discord.

This is a great place to meet new fans, share fanfics, and cosplay. We are also trying to compile useful information about Cardiff and how to get there, so it will be easy to find your way and hit the ground running.

We hope that the presents you received were what you wanted, and in some cases getting that one gift from a distant relative who barely knows you. If it’s socks at least they are useful. Our next Milestone, the Venue Announcement Level

With a hectic week drawing to a close, we are now looking towards our next milestone when we will be announcing the venue. We will have all the details to share about the venue and accommodation. This milestone date is the 13th of March 2024, we should have issue 2 of the Tadfield Advertiser ready to go by then.

In the meantime, stay tuned for updates on how things are going behind the scenes. Other online events we might do along the way. We are looking to do regular chats on Discord to get feedback and see what you want from a Good Omens Convention. Remember this is as much a celebration of the fans as it is Good Omens and the life of Terry Pratchett. So, make a note in your diary for the 13th of March 2024 and the next thrilling instalment of the Tadfield Advertiser. Oh, and to get the juicy details about the venue for the con.

To panel or not to panel…

The Founders are busy coming up with ideas of what you might enjoy and what we think might be entertaining for the attendees. Coming up with panels and ideas isn’t hard, coming up with exciting and engaging panel ideas is hard. We want ‘A Nice & Accurate Convention’ to be memorable and for you to come away entertained with memories to talk about until the next one. We also want you to have a deeper understanding of Good Omens and its fandom.

One of the panel ideas that has come up which might be of interest, is a deep dive into the theology behind Good Omens. Though the show doesn’t follow any particular doctrine, it borrows from a fair few. We want to get a theologian and a local priest who are fans to debate the theological ins and outs of Good Omens. Are Angels and Demons anatomically correct Kens dolls? And other such questions might be asked.

We have a load of ideas some of which we will share to get feedback, we are also open to your ideas. If you have a panel you want to moderate or something exciting about cosplay, fanfic, fan art, etc. then we would love to hear from you. The Plot Twists have been Twisty

Plot twists will always get you. We have been taking a break from posting regularly after an intense week of promotion, normal service will resume shortly. However, venue shenanigans have been ongoing, and oh boy have there been shenanigans. Nothing that will stop A Nice & Accurate Con from happening in the way we plan, just more of a major plot twist way. The result will be the same, just how we get them has some different side quests. We can’t go into detail until we have a resolution, but when we do we will let you know. It is fair to say there have been a lot of colourful expletives thrown around. This is what happens when trying to organise an event in a small city like Cardiff, and we must roll with it and keep moving forward. But a quick positive update for now venue negotiations have also taken a surprise turn, we now have more options. For those interested in how to run a con, multiple venue options are very good. We have a situation where we can get the best venue and negotiate for the best price to keep ticket prices as low as we can and make sure RICE gets a big charity donation at the end. Watch this space as important updates will be coming in the next few weeks.
